"So the first thing we don't like" and then there was a long rant about rulebook, monster movement, iconography, and whatever else. Then came "the second thing we don't like" 😆. Love it! Reminds me of an old show Ricky Gervais did where I believe he gave three reasons as to why he won't have kids.

Backed the first game on Kickstarter, since I love the PC Games and after a whole weekend of chore to play this game, nobody ever wanted to touch it. Sold all the stuff for my OG price, so no loss, but damn, after this Review here I am very sure to never ever look towards a Steamforged Game.

I'm with you, about those microscopic icons.

Another game that uses a decent stamina system is Batman Gotham City Chronicles. I like it and it feels thematic. More games should consider it.

Except that the game was affected by the usual KS bloat, unbalanced scenarios and a rulebook that, to borrow a phrase, was a pile of dogshit. With small, confusing icons to boot. Loved the game when I played it before the crowdfunding campaign, but hated it when it arrived. Hopefully the rebalanced scenarios and updated rule book will save the game when it eventually arrives.

I agree price tag is unjustified for new sets and they repeat contentacross the three sets which is bad business. Appreciate your perspective. But I love my dark souls death chucking dance of deathpush your luck and get good with what you have game. Have everything for it. It was our lock down game tho so I have some strong synaptic buzz in my head there. I prefer the new rules. You didnt mention mega boss expansions. Shortcuts allow you not to bother with some grind. That said I would like encounters to harden up a tad if you go into them again to keep them fresh and biting at your tail.

I agree and wish it were better, I have the original one and am a massive fan of Dark Souls. That being said, with some variant rules it is pretty fun to play once in a while as a one shot (if youre a fan of the ip).

I wonder if you'd like any of the new Shadows of Brimstone Adventures boxes.... Probably not lol.

Watched this because I am surprised you would try this game!

My wife has gone happily amiss for one of those girls nights out. I expect she will return inquisitive of my evening without her. I shall respond I have done bollocks. Dark souls may happily amuse us in the absence of our girls. I wouldn't make a habit of it though. Bollocks are like an indifferent wine. Rarely and magically visited. That's what the wife says anyway. Always an irritating joy to listen to you. Thanks for the hard work. It is always fun. I wish you well. I doubt you are a Tottenham fan. Somebody has to be. I drew the short straw. My son is Arsenal I am not unduly fond of him.

I read that it has much of the content of the previous version but not all of it for more money. It has the updated rules too but I’m not sure if it’s a v2.

The first iteration of this game was my first Kickstarter experience...several lessons were learned. I stayed far away from all their other videos game IP Kickstarters.

Most of the objections are clearly from people who don't even like board games to begin with. Since that's the case, why exactly are you here if it's not to simply be negative?

I owned every expansion of this game before they did the whole reprint with updated rules thing. Hands down, Dark souls TBG is the worst board game I've ever played, only rivaling Tainted Grail. Some crazy person bought it from me for MSRP thankfully so I replaced it with multiple better games. And the actual worst part? SFG made this pile of crap, then CMON made Bloodborne which is among the best dungeon crawler board games ever made, but somehow SFG got rights for Elden ring. Sad state of affairs is all I've got to say.

Dark Souls annoys me. I want so badly for it to be a good game, because of the whole Dying Earth/Book of the New Sun/Berserk vibe, but sheesh, it lets me down every time.

The Problem I have with Video game adaptations is why bother with set-up and tear down of a mostly mediocre adaptation like this one when you can pop in the disc and play in mmmh 5 seconds. I know diffrent expierience, nice miniatures etc. but it still bothers me.

The set up time for these types of board games are ridiculous, for the speed in which you advance. The resident evil ones are the same.

Looks like Bloodborne TBG is still a much better "souls"-boardgame.

This seemed horribly unappealing to me from the start. If I want to feel pain and anguish I'll play the video game. It'll take me less time and it'll be a lot cheaper.

Blimey , this game sounds utterly unoriginal and tedious. I was slamming my head in the fridge door by the second minute.
