Dark Souls III: 183 Discoveries

Ойындар

The Dark Souls franchise is something special. Dark Souls III is teeming with details and I hope I've shown you at least a few things that you didn't know before - even you veterans out there! As usual, the idea is to break the footage down into small chunks that are roughly chronological, so that by the end it's like a complete playthrough rather than a patchwork of unconnected facts.
All of the music is from the game itself and I got all of the footage from the PS4 version (except where footage credits have been given). As for the discoveries, I've tried my best to give credit where I can, and ultimately this video would have been impossible without such a great community behind it. Thank you for watching and for being a part of that community!
"Only 183 this time?"
Many of the discoveries from the DS1 video carry over to DS3, but I've not included many of those because I expect viewer overlap. I was also a bit harsher with my quality threshold this time around.
Sadly, I don't expect I'll have time to work on another video of this scale for the foreseeable future. One day, however, tiny flames may again dance across the darkness. That said, if you'd like to go further than necessary and send me some money, you can do that here: www.buymeacoffee.com/lakeofmud
Don't feel compelled to; my content will always be free and a kind comment is just as good!

    Not only do the Cemetery of Ash and Untended Graves overlap, they are LITERALLY the same area, coordinate for coordinate. If you were to turn around at the start of Cemetery of Ash and jump up to the entrance (using hacks of course), you'd end up behind Oceiros. If you went back into the cemetery, it'll be Untended Graves. Going through the illusory wall into the area is what triggers the change from Cemetery to Graves. This is why Cemetery of Ash isn't connected to any other areas.

    About the Oscar like corpse: In Dark Souls 1, Oscar had an entire cut storyline where he was supposed to do the opposite of what you did. If you linked the fire, he'd call you a pawn of the gods. If you became the dark lord, he'd call you kaathe's servant. The untended graves with his corpse missing and the cemetery of ash with his corpse present is a subtle nod to the cut storyline.

    I like the idea of stars showing up at the last boss fight. Throughout the series it is really only emphasized that the sun and moon are the only heavenly bodies that matter to humanity's survival. Most times, when looking up form all points in the game, the anor londo, lothric castle, and even the sun is covering the sky, as if there is nothin else that matters. But here in the last twilight of the world, where the sun barely shines anymore, the stars appear, to come witness this last final battle between two nobodies, stuck at the end of of the world.

I would label the theme as Gwyn's theme playing, as I think it references Gwyn's power coursing the Lord of Cinder. Anri showing up at the end to bend the knee for you. I'm unsure if buying Anri's armor from shrine maiden will take the armor away during the cutscene. Loved this video, i will now go throw rocks at Horace from the bridge.

    Wanted to add for Gael hollowing that the Hollowslayer GS actually does extra damage against him so that's pretty cool

  • @nerfer200
    @nerfer2003 жыл бұрын

    Here's a few more little facts that I think are cool: The SOC bonfire, the Firelink Bonfire, and the Coiled Sword use the same model sword The Dancer and Vordt can be riposted after enough damage done to their heads The area leading to the Dancer (where the lance knight and the sword knight patrol) the lighting is different there, making colors look less vibrant and more muted Despite Storm Ruler working for Yhorm, it does not work for other giant-type enemies, only Yhorm During the boss fight with Yhorm, you do not use FP while using Storm Ruler The collar of Lapps helm disappears for other armor sets, making it so the head moves. This does not apply with no armor and the collar stays The Arch-Tree that makes up the SOC arena is actually the same Tree that Gywn and the others crawled out of Silver Knights leave corpses, Black Knights do not Silver Knights mimic Ornstien by using his two handed heavy attack Gael can be riposted, but only after a headshot from a throwing knife or arrow The Giant Archer uses the same voice lines as the Giant Blacksmith, just tone and pitch shifted back to it's more original voice Gargoyles with heads can be riposted, gargoyles with no heads can't The Murky Longstaff has a Murky Hand Scythe fastened to it Some enemies can be pushed back when you roll into them (Undead Villagers, Murk Men, Small Crabs) The scream of the Lycanthrope can be heard in Bloodborne Rotten Flies take double damage if they are flying There are numerous Berserk references: (Carthus Worm, Wheel Skeletons, Artorias' pose, Merc Armor and Watcher Armor) Gundyr is modeled off of King Doran from Demon's Souls; his armor even backs up this theory Ludleth has no legs Ludleth with dream of the time he linked the fire Ludleth, despite being on his throne, will warn the player and suggest they link the fire The Transposing Kiln is in the shape of the Dark Sign Attacking Friede or Vinheim causes them to disappear The area you fight Donyl is Priscilla's boss arena The Painter cannot die After you give the Firekeeper the eyes, she will begin to examine her burned hands Some enemies are hostile to each other (Black Knight and Demon-Ghrus) The Deacon's chanting are actually pleas for help in reverse The SOC has a unique grab attack with the Lance form The SOC can use sword attacks with the Staff form Gael's Soul is actually a humanity sprite that's been infected with the Dark Soul Gael's Soul is also remarkably similar to Manus' Soul Only the Tall Deacons with create the curse fog Using a weapon art shield without a weapon in the main hand will cause it to a bash, similar to kirks shield
