I much prefer that they left the more ambiguous exploration of the Undead Burg in the game. If you started at the bottom, you would have known you would probably head up at some point. Whereas when you start from the top, you wonder if you'll be able to get down there, and when you do, it's super rewarding. I love Dark Souls for how the maps do this and how not everything is linear.

Having the Capra Demon as the first boss would have taught you that you can be skip a hard fight to continue exploring and come back later when you have better gear. Another thing is that the female merchant that sells the pine resins tells you to go down to find the lower undead burg, but that's where you are coming from, so originally the path to the upper undead burg would have likely been blocked off, and you would have been made to explore the lower undead burg first before reaching the short cut that connects the lower and upper undead burgs to the bridge leading to the undead parish.

Reminds me of how they stuck the Tree Sentinel outside the tutorial area in Elden Ring to teach players that it’s ok to avoid fights for later.

Quite a reference to silent hill 2.

It would've been cool if they left it in as a shortcut, although it would look a little strange.

Makes sense they removed it, think about it, you can go to undead burg, blightown, catacombs, new londo and valley of drakes. They are dark, spoopy places that wouldn't really work as places you want to visit immediately. Undead burg feels a lot more like a starting village in a rpg. So they probably removed it so the game doesn't feel like its repeating itself. You get me? Purely just speculation

Can you not shift the noclip camera around so much? If you scroll down, it lowers the motion speed
