No, Yhorm's Large Machete is actually the best at 66 dex, because when you two hand it, your dex gets flipped, turned upside down and becomes 99 dex through the multiplication mechanic. This also applies to dead-angling and ghost-hitting and phantom-ranging with the Big Blade.

Potat.OS1 you mean the spiky helmet? I like my no helmet look because it looks so gentlemanlike. I need something along the lines of silver mask but without the mask and not the pirate style. But i will try the followers helmet

Lothric knight sword has S scaling in dex

The Sellsword Twinblade are quite good dex weapon too. Scales well, a 4 hit combo quite deadly, and very nice when buffed.

Yeah I agree. The bad thing is that it is pretty hard to get the opponent while the crow quills is an estoc with more flexible moves. Other than that the critical damage is insane.

the reason there is a "lack" of build diversity is that slvl120 meta by the time you get your vit end and vig leveled up to viable amounts, you dont have much left over to work with. you can easily 40/40 str and dex. but doing much of anything else isint really practical. yet the same people pushing for the min max glory 120 meta are the same people whining about build diversity, when they are the ones killing it to begin with lol. there are a shitload of really great weapons in ds3, but its hard if not outright impossible to get them to work, ie have competitive damage, when you need 100 stat points to achieve that but are expected to only use 60-70. meta level in ds2, at least when i was playing, was 150 and you saw alot of variety in the builds. that wasant just because of weapons or the lack of quality infusion, its because an extra 30 stat points is a massive difference in what you can or cannot do with a build. think build diversity in ds3 sucks? try making slvl 150 builds, see what you can make work then. see how many different viable options you actually have when you arent gimping yourself into the carthus curved sword regen build's ideal stomping ground tldr #minmax120metaisdumb

right there were "more" weapons in ds2 but they were more of the same. with minor differences to their stat line. but if you did a slvl 120 meta in ds2 guess what. you would find that most of those weapons werent really viable and that there were only a very small handful that would be meta viable. so a greater total number wouldnt matter. i will say this though i wish they had kept power stancing in ds3. i do feel that was a missed opportunity.

It would be nice if you could place the numbers on screen when comparing stats. You are a quick talker, which helps keep these clips to the point, but having to mentally go back to remember and compare stats, while listening for more information is a little straining. Just a suggestion.

Sharp Lucerne. Pure thrust damage w/ good range and the special sweet-spot mechanic of halberd and scythe weapons, making it amazing w/ Leo Ring. Has hyper armor, too. Only disadvantage is that it’s moveset doesn’t favor gang fights. Pair it with a curved Greatsword or large curved sword (carthus, falchion, follower Sabre).

The crow talons do more damage at 60 dex than 40/40, while Ricard's does not, what do you classify as a dex weapon? By your logic the blacksmith hammer is a dex weapon because it gets an A scaling in dex

I've yet to find a build to use with crow quills so when said here are some good builds I quickly screen shotted thxs man they OP

Astora Greatsword (Ultra Greatsword) has S scaling and Murakumo (Curved Greatsword) has S scaling too. with sharp gems of course.

Hey skillz, you didn't mention which one of the two builds is better in your opinion. Is the increase in damage from the dmb buff enough to justify the cut in hp and end?

Amazing video! I use Sharp Crow Quills two for my dex/ mage build! My only problem is how I can get the L1 attacks in since they are short range. Perhaps you could make a video/ guide on how to fulfil their potential as a weapon? :)

I have the same dex/int setup for the quills, I suggest not initiating with the l1. I do an r1->l1 then delay the follow-up l1 to roll catch, try that out.

Um no? I didn't say my dex/ mage build had 40dex and 60 int. I have 60 dex and 18int and faith just so I can use some 4 spells for invasions

I recently did my first playthrough of dark souls 3 (dont ask why i just started its a long story) and I decided to run a dex build (knowing that dex has always been really good when it comes to pvp and pve from past experience ) and when i found the crow quills I honestly fell in love with the weapon it is by far my favorite weapon in the game

Hello, PvPSkillz. Was at ur channel build with Moaning Shield +5 with Magic Shield spell? It's really fun works with Fume UGS because weapon has great moveset and quick strike after roll and attacks to shield make no reduce stamina AT ALL! It's awersome!

damn skillz I was about to do a review on this weapon and I thought the same, you definitely have to buff the weapon to profit more on damage and make your combos deadly in the arena. but I have a question if we can utilize the old wolf curved sword to make the r1 + l1 combo and the full WA combo with the r1 + l1 in the end even more deadly! this is useful or this is just a waste of cap? ps; I don't think the quills are op at all, just parry or hyper armor through every thing. pss; sorry for the poor English

quills are far from op. most people seem to feel they are lack luster. but they are comparing everything to 40/40 quality carthus curved sword regen "builds" or i suppose now the follower saber.

They are not op if they remove the huge stagger they have on second r1s and other combos. A poke weapon isnt supposed to have stagger at all, considering it can already hit for 500+ with leo ring. It's all over the same story again like with the estoc. A fast sword hard to parry than most others, lightning fast to hit while running r1, with a staggering weapon art and quick distance cover CANT also have benefits STR weapons should have. It should be either quick hitting or slow but staggering. But oh well should be either STR or DEX and not quality tho. From just totally made the game lazily and just too easy for casuals to adapt.

all weapons stagger more or less the same amount minus a few things like ultra weapons fully charged r2. its gonna sound cliche as fuck but if your having trouble fighting crow quills and think they are op. you need to get good. there are many more weapons that are much more powerful and much more "op" than the quills. if you are having that much trouble with them, then you really need to practice things like spacing and iframing more. also just because one weapon or type of weapon can counter your preferred build does not make it "op." thats just darksouls. there is nothing that is the absolute be all end all setup, that would actually be "op". even the mighty carthus curved sword has counters.

Crow Quills have another big weakness, specially in 1v1 duels: the weapon art followup R2 is very easy to parry once you learn its timing. I have never lost against it since I did, so use it carefully. (But don't tell anyone plz :p )

The Crow Quills is a pretty awesome weapon. My only issue with it is that it's L1's are pretty much useless compared to the R1's since the range on the first two hits on the L1's are so short.

One more thing about the crow quills is that the weapon art follow up can be delayed so long that your opponent will think they can move in and attack

I totally agree with you. Super good weapon especially when paired with Darkmoon Blade on a faith/dex build. It just rocks. But it's a bit difficult to use imo so a nice guide paired with this video would be awesome.

I am trying to do pyromancy with a dex weapon but I don't know if I should go full pyromancy and just have a fire gem infusion on a good weapon? If I go faith build then I should do a blessed gem infusion, right?

Nice video! But I think you should write all the numbers (Like when you are telling what dex lvl have what damage) on the video also becouse you say them so fast and I forget those more easily.

I think you're right. Even though Chaos blade has higher damage and it's standard katana draw stance battle art can help you trick your opponents and hit multiple people, it's self damage can be a problem especially since even attacks that just miss also take away your HP in pvp. Crow Quills look really good, I think I'll make a character around them.

I could have sworn you had an ultimate strength/quality build video with various choices to make this build from. But now I'm trying to respec my character and I can't find this video anywhere. Did you remove it or am I missing something?

Dex just got buffed so it might be interesting to look at this again.

I like the one eighty meta level because people at that level usually use a variety of weapons, and magic builds have more than two health as well as non-magic characters being able to hold more than just a toothpick and a pocket knife.

Totally agree, for fuck sakes, it's not a bad thing to be able to put points in many stats. As of now, melee builds are full melee because they can't incorporate spells, buffs, etc. Mages have to invest so much, so most of the time they die quickly, have low stam, or can't rely on a weapon. I also found that most people in the arena die way too quicky. We need to raise meta level so people level up vigor even more.

***** No, he is making more since, whilst i don't agree with the vigor because of diminishing returns, I agree with the raising of meta level since i play at 180 and find plenty of chivalrous people, and sorcerers are viable. Plus, melee builds can become sudo sorcerers, or have more then 2 fp while being able to carry a lot.

yeah if you like having two health, shit casting speed and only being able to carry a lunch box and two medium sized twigs

Used it in combination with Freide's scythe on a 40/30 dex/int build. I feel like the weapon shines best with a int/faith hybrid since you can buff it, but that never kept me from just whippin it out unbuffed/bundled to poke someone with as the damage was pretty great anyway.

the build i am working on at the moment is a Dex/miracle build. But i am only using the darkmoon blade miracle. My main stats will be 50 dex, 30 int, 30 faith and the rest wherever mainly vigor and endurance and enough attunement for a slot or 2. hopefully going high vigor (above 1000hp base)

Try using claws in your offhand as a parry tool instead of caestus, it weighs more but makes your parries less predictable

I actually agree with Scott Jund about this weapon, that its damn good, has lot of unique moves, but the point is that the good things about it are not unique at all (R1) and unique things like the WA deal around 0 damage (rarely someone falls for a R2 follow-up) or have no range like the first L1 attack. I've played with both crow quills and the chaos blade, and yes, quills perform better in duels, but all you do to consistently win is just press R1. Chaos blade may be a bit worse in case of performance, but it requires more skill to use and, most importantly, you feel better when winning with a chaos blade.

PLEASE do one for strength. Thanks Mr.Skills

leo ring helps chaos blade a lot as well, it procs on the running attack.

Old vid but ricards is pretty op on a dex faith build. "Ricard's lunge and press" applies the buff multiple times unlike the regular "lunge and press" so with pontiff right eye and leo ring you can 1 shot most people with th full wa , stack the old wolf curved sword for even more damage

I really like the crow quills too! But i always get parried the second i press L1, because neither L1 nor R1 combos into L1, so people can just roll away or parry. Another thing is that the throwing knives part of the weapon art deals no damage, well, mayby 7-14. Still nothing. The stab part of it is cool though. Although a bit hard to land. I also find that i get outranged by everything. A good greatsword user is impossible to beat. And it cant fight Follower sabre very well either. I dont have the stats for buffing my weapon, so i just use resins. Although it really doesnt help very much, from what i can tell.

you're right about that. that weapon its extremely op like the most new weapondry. for a dex build its op but only 1v1

can someone explain me how the new dlc arena works in regard of SL? i have a SL180 char and he is likely to go even futher with more ng pluses. am i matched against characters with SL close to mine or is it random? i am pretty sure they match me with people around my SL, but i want to be sure, not that i play unfair against "weaker" enemies...

The other big weakness of the Crow Quill is that you can parry it really easy. Multiple times now ive beaten people using it purely because i parry them.

I think that Exile Sword might actually be better with refined gem, since that gives it both A scaling in strenght and dexterity. And since the thing already takes 24 strenght to use propperly, I think it makes a difference, especially in low lvl builds. Also: How come you forgot about lothric straight sword, it is unlocked at the first location in the game and has S scaling in dexterity, does not use a lot of stamina, really good range for a straight sword (especially on its pierce/stab attack), low mass and can be buffed on top of all that

I absolutely love your stuff and you're a very nice guy but gods do I hate the aftermath. Much like Gundyr's Halberd, which was a favorite of mine, people start using things you mention left and right and that fun ''Yeeey, I'm one of the few doing this in the sea of Follower's Sabres'' is gone.
