They are extremely well defined. It's just the netcode in ds2 isn't very good so it causes phantom range. If ds2 had 100% perfect connection 100% of the time then the hitboxes would be extremely accurate every single time.

In non-laggy pvp matches I have noticed some amazing dodges of arrows/throwing knives/spells/thin weapons (like the whip and rapiers) but most of the time you're gonna have some level of lag that is gonna make you not rely on such hair-thin dodge tactics.

It's not about the net code or online play, the game itself has serious issues with the hitboxes. Giants can prove that.

Lethal Potato (going back to your first comment) I don't get how somehow the newer system/engine doesn't hold up like the old one, and I'm not even talking about Dark Souls 1 I'm talking about Demon's Souls somehow everything works if I swing my sword the person has to be in the blade's range for it to register same goes for them no extra foot of invisible blade and if I summon someone they're here in like 30 seconds no waiting a few minutes for a "Summoning Failed" sign, maybe my connection is good but so far I've been playing it recently for a few weeks thinking "Ok probably a 100% chance everything is broken" and not once have I gotten a laggy session with anyone and this is coming from a 5 year old game, explain this to me!

#1 wasn't a parry of a backstab attempt. That is just how the 1h-R1 looks of the Popsicle.Great submission, still! And awesome countdown!

SunlightBlade that number 1 wasnt a backstab attempt :p just so you know that was just one of the moves you can do(the start of the swing looks the same as a back stab so that might made it a bit confussing but overall great vid)

he didn´t parry a backstab. the host tried to backstab and failed and it ended up as a normal attack and the phantom parried that. not a backstab.

Thats the battlecry of the solar carachters in boss fights or Pvp with friends (but in the pvp no thats not my battlecry i prefer do a fair and honorable 1Vs1 not 2Vs1 thats not fair)

Oh, also, #1 was not luck. That was skill. He clearly practices a lot of parrying.

number 1 wasn't luck. 3 parries in a row isn't luck. that is actual hard earned skills

Nah, he got freaking lucky. The lag was in his favor that time and it actually registered his parries vs the opponents attacks. You have to be skilled enough to get the timing generally correct but anything involving online play is 30% luck.

literally the easiest way for a parry i get nearly everytime is throwing knifes agains ugs. you just throw a knife 90% of the enemys will make a rolling attack, after throwing knife jsut press the parry button instantly. i got one host with this 6 times in a row, just stood there let him heal. those 6 parries only cost me 6 throwing knifes ;)

#10, BABY! Thanks for featuring me in your top 10, SLB. One of the subtle details that makes my clip truly insane is that I was using the chaos blade, which causes damage to the wielder with each hit. So the fact that I survived with *additional* damage from the chaos blade had me freaking out when it happened. But that #1 was absolutely insane. Every time I try to parry a backstab I get.... Well.... Backstabbed! Nice countdown, though. There were some seriously amazing clips here!

The amazing thing for the Number 1 Submission is that if he wouldnt have cast warmth to gain back atleast that tiny amount of health, he wouldnt have been able to block the first r1 of the second phantom; the block damage would have killed him. So it was literally as close as it couldve been o__o

tou hou That's what he's saying... It's not a backstab. You can't parry BS-whiffs. It's the normal 1-handed R1 for the Crypt Sword, _not_ a BS attempt.

tou hou _Going_ for a BS, yes.. but that's not what was parried. Kesler62 was just pointing out that it wasn't a BS animation that was parried, and he's right. Host made an attempt that did _not_ connect, thus resulting in _no_ BS whiff animation.

for #4 something similar actually happened to me back in dark souls 1. i was casting gravelord greatsword dance and i ducked under a soul spear because of the casting animation. since the next one is top 10 ranged kills i'll have to break out a bow build again i suppose ;)

Thanks for the vid SLB! Can't wait to see some ranged builds! I actually miss fighting ranged builds from dkS1. Not sure why but people don't seem to use bows in pvp these days :/ perhaps that has to do with no DkS2 version of the ninja ring that changes the roll animation?

That white phantom's kickass move was a powerstanced dual majestic greatsword L2. God I love these Artrollias loops and spins.

In the last clip, he did not parry a backstab attempt. It was just a normal attack, but the crypt black sword's funky animations looked like one. Regardless, it's still amazing he parried all three of the gankers. A+ Invader.

The "gankers" at Number 7 looked more like they were just two friends trying to get through that level on NG+, rather than being outright gankers. Also, the host wasn't really overconfident, the Mock gesture seemed like more of a "Sorry about this, man." Then again I don't know what their exact intentions were, I just don't think your ridicule and disrespect of them wasn't justified.

I had a similar moment to 4. I did the majestic spin flip over a great resonate soul (maybe climax not sure since it missed) and nearly landed on the host. I've also parried a back stab attempt in dark souls 3, but the #1 submission was much better.

#4 happens a lot in ds 3 with the black knight greatswords launcher attack, I can't think of many other examples rn but I know you can make a lot of the attacks from the silver knights by Anor Londo whiff with good timing like the electric lance charge and the first hit before the launch. I use that area for farming a lot so I try out some stuff occasionally though it's possible that only occurs because the knights are so tall and a normal player character probably wouldn't whiff as much if at all

Its called Majestic Greatsword, its a left handed greatsword from the 2nd DLC

It's the Charred Loyce Greatsword, from the Ivory King boss battle (drops from the knights you fight there).

Number 4 happened to me alot, especially when I was "crouching" with weapon's attacks or anything, also from gesturing xD

I think i would have taken a 10 min break after that fight (nr 1 spot). Good video.

on an unrelated topic, I used to parry a lot, and I remember id always parry once I see an animation for them trying to hit, but yesterday this guy knocked me down and once I got up I saw him charging me with a spear and I tried to parry, and I did, but he crazy thing was it was like AI parrying, like parrying in PvE, so why was I able to parry him even though thetiming wasn't right considering its online, im on ps4 and hard wired, please any response would be helpful, Im very confused

alot of these in my opinion alot of them are just knowing alot about the game with the special attacks and lightning the backstab parry and the parry baits but great video non the less very entertaining :)

I love #6, little beats the joys of co-ordinated co-op :3
