9:50 "Gankers" are using lighting spears because before the nerf they were extremely efficient in PvE for the damage and amount of casts you got for attuning them. Some of these people are just co-oping and trying to finish the level, the red phantom invading is just another enemy they have to put down. The way I see it, some of these people are co-oping and it's not their fault they got invaded when they weren't looking to actively group up on invaders. Others just waiting solely for invaders and NOT finishing the level are gankers. Isn't their a fine line between gankers and co-opers?

Man, I wish I could have been recording when it happened... One day I was dropping signs in the Iron Keep with my Little Mac build, bare fists with the Vanquisher's Seal. I was summoned to face a mage wielding Dragon Tooth and his two Avelyn/Katana summons. I tried to fight them there, but the Avelyns were too much pressure, so I retreated to the area before Smelter with the Alonne Knight snipers. One of the white phantoms rushed ahead while the other two sniped at me, so I let him chase me just into one of the knight's aggro range, turning to hit him with a combo just as the knight did his lunge attack. He went down, and I continued to retreat to the far side, with the drop down and the ladder leading up to an isolated platform with the Alonne Knight Captain sniper. They shot him down quickly, so I played the waiting game, avoiding their lightning spears and arrows, getting off a poison on the other white phantom with poison arrows (although the host summoned back his other buddy, who again rushed me and was easily killed). Finally, the host comes over, dropping to the platform below where the ladder starts. I took my chance, dropped down as he was Estus-ing from the fall damage, and backstabbed him for a one-hit kill before his phantom could reach me. It was so satisfying...

hey if you get invaded do go looking for him and make it so he has the upper hand or do you hold and wait for him to come to you where you can beat him if you would rather lose because you wanted to get that flame butterfly thats all well and good but if you do not want to take the risk and win the fight then you bunker down

Scottinmire Sooo, what I got was if we get invaded you want us to go look for "him" and give the invader the upper hand? Or we could lose and get a flamebutterfly? Umm, but I already have 50+ butterflies, and last time I checked you don't get anything for losing in a fight. Also, how will bunkering down save anyone in an invasion? Maybe I'm just looking into it too much, but I'm generally confused.

Oh the lovely look when a havelmonster is all alone after you've taken care of his 2 sunbro summons, and he starts turtling and walking backwards, makes me laugh every time.

***** Even weak lightning spears used to be fairly strong and had plenty of casts, a normal lightning spear would easily out damage a mage using similar tier spells before the nerf. The better sorceries like the soulspears had about the same damage as a great lightning spear, but 1/4th the uses. Unless you managed to hit a soul geyser it would be unlikely to go anywhere near the potential damage output of a sunlight spear. The only reason that miracles weren't nerfed way sooner compared to sorceries is because of how ridiculously easy they are to dodge.

Thanks again SunlightBlade for posting this fantastic compilation of brave undead combat. If only my combat were so brilliantly incandescent to shine upon your top tens. Sadly I have no luck in PVP it seems. Nor I a way to capture my play. Keep up the good work, friend. Praise the Sun!

Today I got my first "gank spank", if that's how it's called... I'm not that good in pvp, so when I saw the host summoning a phantom to help him i thought I was done, but then I remembered all these videos I saw, how the players incredibly were able to avoid the hosts traps and take the victory, so I didn't lose faith and kept playing, getting both the sunbro and the host, after a long chase... And man, the happiness that gets after winning such a fight... It's huge...

Know what's fun? Having the level TPK everybody trying to follow you without even once trying to fight back. Works wonders in Lothric - plenty of endless puts and long falls. Spanked two ganks that way this week.

That last one was awesome! I love how the host lured him as an invader and had sentries ready to fire great arrows at him. So authentic.

I think I was part of a gank once. Someone summoned me to help fight against a red phantom in Iron Keep and all I did was sit back and watch as the host got rekt. I'm a terrible ganker...

this actually happened on the opposite side for me in DS3. I invaded and was fighting this guy near a boss door. be runs and starts spamming summons. when the guy shows up and see that he was summoned for this and not the boss he just sat back and watched and applauded me when I beat the host. it was great.

whenever i get summoned to help someone with an invader i sit back and let the host fight them. if there's an invader mid-coop, i try to duel him if the host doesn't

@@StilvurBee of course they SHOULDNT be able to deal eith an invader. Invaders are geared and specced specifically for pvp, while the host is likely using a pve built. The only reason an invader shojld ever lose is serious lack of skill. The only time i wouldnt help is when someones hqnging out in a pvp hotspot wanting to pvp(IE ironkeep bridge) and summoned because they were losing. Anything else is a dick move basically saying "hey, im gunna watch this guy reset your progress"

Seeing the damage against the Havel Monsters pre-patch again makes me appreciate the change even more.

THIS, is what Dark Souls PvP is all about. Also, your commentary makes it almost feel like I'm watching a real sport, so major props for that man.

The Reaper Within's cosplay of the Ruin Sentinel was really cool! Although I probably would've used the archdrake mace since it looks more like the hammer things the Ruin Sentinels use. Such a shame you couldn't get their boss weapons. The shield looked really cool, and would have been perfect for a Solaire cosplay.

I found the last 4 or so just astonishing, awesome submissions and spanks.

Okay, yeah, that last one was fucking epic. Also a huge amount of respect for number 2, for being able to parry so well. That hose must have been panicking hard. Seeing someone that knows and is actually ABLE to parry first hand, twice in a single fight that crowded even, is a huge blow to confidence. Every attack is weighed down by the knowledge that it could very well be parried and that's the end of the fight.

That song at the end is awesome. I know it, but can't remember what it's called. Anybody know the name?

Usually when I see multiple summons I usually just throw myself off of the nearest cliff. Suprising to see people actually trying in these scenarios. It didn't convince me to try in those scenarios but it's nice to see that.

Oh, what build is the host using at number 1? I've never seen that build before! The katana plus resonant weapon! So unique!

It's times like this I wish I could record my playing, I'd have a couple good gank spanks to share. That being said, I don't think I could compare to the number 1 spot, that's amazing. Great countdown, as always.

Never played any of the DS' games, so do the different colors of the Invaders (red, blue, ...) and Summons (white, gold, ...) mean anything? Or are they only there for distinguishing reasons.

hilariously enough, the great arrow to the face for number 4 saved the red phantom's ass from two attacks that would have destroyed him, the four soul spear attack (I don't know the name of it) and a lighting spear sailed just over his head while he was flat on his back.

What class was the person in slot 2?

You forgot to mention that No 8 is a Ruin Sentinel cosplay, invading before the actual boss fight! That alone deserves extra credit!

Was the host on number 9 using a hacked gower's? It is supposed to break after a few hits

I think in the number 5 spot, the invader actually knew who the host was the entire time, if you notice he seems to target his parries on the same guy each time, also targeting shows the name of your target (so he might have paid attention to the name of the host when he entered the world, and found out which white was the host that way). Still quite impressive but I wouldn't think it was blind luck.

Why did you delete your DLC videos?

one thing I never understood with ganks and white rings and all that is the overhead health bars display names so when you join in, you know who to go for... I don't understand how the red phantoms in this video got confused like that

you can see the name when you lock onto one of them, but when you spawn and there is three people running at you, you don't have much time observe the names carefully

Wish I was able to defeat ganks like this XD I tend to get caught out by phantom range more often than not.
