This sounds like a weird version of the "Ondine" tale: It's about a couple of peasants that live in a swamp, and have a child, but the child drowns under mysterious circumstances. Soon they find a beautiful baby girl in the swamp, and decide to adopt her and name her "Ondine". Years later, a prince wanders into the swamp and finds a Ondine. She saves him from drowning in a sort of trap, then takes him to her parents' cottage. He falls madly in love with her and wishes to take her with him. Ondine accepts, but as she leaves she is confronted away from the prince by her true family, the spirits of water. They tell her that if she leaves, she won't be able to return. Then they whisper to the prince to take care of Ondine, for once he's agreed to love her there's no going back. The prince promises he will. However, back home while he spends a long time happy with Ondine, he ends up falling in love with a noble lady in court whose biological origins also trace back to the same swamp. He marries her, and during the wedding Ondine dissapears, not before blocking all the wells. The bride, who didn't have a good relationship with Ondine, decides to defy the girl's final advice and removes the sealing from one of the wells. Water immediately covers the whole castle's lands, and everybody celebrating the wedding drowns. As the prince floats up lifeless, Ondine swims to him, bids him farewell, then returns to her world and leaves him behind.

Yeah I actually knew this for many years. My mom would read the normal version to me. In preschool I got a Little Mermaid book. I read this as I barely learned how to read. I was shocked. One page ariel is barely in water while the prince is on a ship. She is holding a knife and looked scared. And the next page Ariel turned to foam. I cried and it's so sad.

I was like five when a very similar version of the story was told to me. Only that she actually went through with murdering the Prince and then herself. I specifically remember the scene she gets legs, something along the lines of: It felt like in every inch of her legs a dagger was stabbed into her. * something, something * It was like the skin was pulled from her legs and her raw flesh burned in the salt water of the sea. Like OH my dear god, how was I not traumatized by this

Well actually as far as I know Mulan came from a Chinese poem called 木蘭詩. There's nothing scary ab that. The story is pretty much the same as the Disney movie but Disney added a lot of stuff like mushu But the original poem is a little more about Mulan being obedient and stuff. this is the poem.

I know a somewhat different version: ok so basically the prince doesn't fall in love w her and marries a new woman. Well Ursula offers her a deal that if she kills the prince she can have her tail back and go back to the water w her sisters. She wished for the princes happiness over hers. She ends up dying but since she had such a good heart and a kind spirit she was given a soul and has to carry out 300 good deeds before she can go to heaven.

It wasn't the real story I know about the little mermaid. The one I know is like this: She fell in love with a prince, who she saved from a sinking ship and later on brought him back to safety, but he sadly didn't remember her. Since she wanted him so much, she asked the seawitch for a trade, where the little mermaid gives her voice away but gets a potion which allows her to transform her fin into legs. But the prince chooses another girl, because of this the little mermaid transforms into sea foam.

I recognise this story. I remember reading it in a book

Left out the part where the sea witch cuts out her tongue after the deal. Spooky.

Do not sight the magic to me. For I have already read it
Omg why do I remember reading this 😭
I was like five when a very similar version of the story was told to me. Like OH my dear god, how was I not traumatized by this
In one version I know, Her sisters tried to force her to kill the Prince but she couldn't do it so she drowned herself and went to do good deeds for 300 years
Can u do Mulan?

Well actually as far as I know Mulan came from a Chinese poem called 木蘭詩. There's nothing scary ab that. The story is pretty much the same as the Disney movie but Disney added a lot of stuff like mushu But the original poem is a little more about Mulan being obedient and stuff. this is the poem.
Hi u should do “Snow White” next! :D

She already did!😄
they told us this story in 3rd grade and it was really soul crushing for a group of 9 year olds.
How can you do THIS BEAUTIFUL DRAWING?!?!?!?! ! !?!
When I was like 10 my mom got me the original version. I HATED IT
I remember that when i was younger my mom was reading me this story and i remember something aboute that um the prince married someone else and i remember that Ariel died in the end
As someone that heard all the original stories before the Disney ones, this was not a painful video to watch. Only a sad reminder that nothing in this world is 100% pure.
Beautiful art btw!
Wow, Ursula actually is a likeable character in this....
*her telling the real story* Me finding out that my hole childhood was a lie.😂😂😅😅💖💖
I heard thag her foam spirit is still here, well she helps people that might drown and stuff. As a foam.
I actually know this version. I have a book of original fairytales and the little mermaid is in there.🧜♀️
When I was in kindergarden we would sleep after lunch and they would always bring some fairytale to listen to and they decided to get there some originals. I learnt how to fall asleep so fast because of this. The little mermaid was always the scarriest one for me
i’m not sure if it’s completely sure because i mean it’s the internet, but i saw this thing once about how the story was written by a man who was in love with another man but felt like they were in different worlds, thus the ✨story✨which was one of the reasons it was so dark. maybe not true, but i still think it’s kind of interesting

You mean Hans Christan Anderson? Who wrote the story as a love letter to a man (Edvard Collin I think it was), but the feelings were unrequited.
I didn't knew this story, I only knew that in the original version she turned into foam but it's good to hear the whole story
the dark ending that i know is that the sea witch also takes her life if the prince won’t marry her, and then prince marries another person and the princess dies.
Is it only me who grew up with the original version of the story
I know a somewhat different version: ok so basically the prince doesn't fall in love w her and marries a new woman. Well Ursula offers her a deal that if she kills the prince she can have her tail back and go back to the water w her sisters. She wished for the princes happiness over hers. She ends up dying but since she had such a good heart and a kind spirit she was given a soul and has to carry out 300 good deeds before she can go to heaven.
Do Sleeping Beauty. It's one of the most messed up ones.

Rapunzel!! That's my favorite princess that's why I have long hair
Am i the only one who grew up with this story?
off topic but your drawings are amazing. truly amazing
Idk about y'all but I grew up with this
I actually grew up with this version-
I’ve read about the dark version and it’s sooo good
I grew up with this version
OMG THAT CHANGES EVERYTHING
Anyone else think its scary and interesting at the same time that we don't realize its digital drawing until this person brings out the "abnormal" brushes (the ones with like shapes and shit-)
I have a storybook of a version almost exactly like this, but she turned into sea foam because she doesn't have a soul. And no, in this version, she didn't stab herself, she just waited out the time limit until she died.
I remember the needing where she turned to foam in a book I read, good book btw
U forgot abt how her sisters gave up their hair for legs. But when her sister dies they did as well. They all played with the children of the sky. That's how he put it.
To be honest I like this version better it's it's bit more realistic then happy ever after everytime
the person who made that story was H.C Andersen, wich lived in Denmark, i was born in that country and i still live there, the true story IS the one she is telling you about, but, at the end she turns into bubbles in the ocean, go search it up if you don’t believe me, H.C andersen was a really good writer, he made lots of books that are now solled in other countries.
I knew this one first actually! Btw Areal was also a siren and she had to drag him in water drown him and wash her legs in his blood :)
i would…like to see this as a movie or miniseries
Cinderella. I'm the original book, one of the step sisters ends up cutting her toes off to try to get the shoes to fit.
I heard this when I was younger....THIS WAS THE VERSION I HEARD 😭😭😭
I heard the original when I was five😢.Bro I almost cried😭
When that's the one you knew since little:👀
You should do Cinderella or the princess and the frog!!!!
Ngl I thought this was the version everyone knew
I actually was watching this one when i was little I thought it was completly normal-
It wasn't the real story I know about the little mermaid.
The original writer of most of the fairytales are Hans Christian Andersen ( I think) my favorite was the little match girl tbh it was better than Charles Dickens Christmas Carol, you should check his book out!✨
I actually grew up with this story instead of the one from the disney movie.
I actually read this story when i was 6 and in the story, not only ursula is the one telling her to kill the prince but also her sisters and the rest is in the story told here
I thought that was paper- 💀
Can you do rapunzel’s story please? I love her so much!!
Pls do sleeping beauty or cinderella
Do the beauty and the beast next pls
If Ariel killed the prince, took the throne and freed the women. Would have been an awesome story
In the original Ursula can’t magically take her voice so she cuts out Ariel’s tongue so she can’t speak anymore
Can you do Beauty and the Beast next? I love the live action version!
Well , could u do smth scarier and creepier , please ?!🙏❤
Here’s a dark end I remember hearing(but I only know the end tho): it was something like, at the end of the story, she sewed her legs back together to go back to being a mermaid but she still ended up dying tho
I grew up knowing the twisted one not the one with a good end
Side note: the original Disney one was about the writer (who was a man) falling in love with the prince even though he was a mermaid
I love your channel
please do beauty and the beast next
her: prince captions: *price*
Who else watched her paint and not listened to the story Lmao 🤣
If there is a toddler show that’s animated you know how creepy it is….oh yeah,I forgot about the animated KZread toddler videos
Me who grew up hearing this version:
Do Beauty and the Best next
You should do Cinderella!
Pinkfong actually uses the original little mermaid story.
please do Cinderella!!
I always liked the "original" fairytales (not Disney version) more Some days ago I found my old book and really enjoyed reading some of the storys again
