@juanarkantos5 жыл бұрын
It's so rare nowadays to see a virtuoso so deeply concerned with music structure, cohesion and melodic progression through leit motifs. I can't think of anyone else playing at this technical level who is also as creative and expressive, except for maybe Guthrie Govan. This is to me the proof that technical proficiency does have the possibility of adventuring into new worlds of expression, but also since it's so evident that almost no one else does it like this, it's also proof that it's really rare for artistic genius and technical proficiency to meet at equal grades.

Just go buy a guitar and go for it. I've been playing more than 40 years, and I just can't do this kind of stuff. Kids are amazing today, not to mention how you can just go to KZread and watch and learn how stuff is played. I'm "pre-Van Halen" era, so the way I learned is so different. BTW, what's the tuning that these guys use?
@jaconova
6 жыл бұрын
Dave Lanciani while you may argue it is easier for more kids around the world to learn guitar, the effort is the same. Also, at certain point, youtube videos become useless. If you ´ve been playing 40+ years and can´t do this stuff is just because you never had real interest in doing so in the first place. My point is let´s not take credit away for current master players ("oh, now is easy, anybody can play like that with youtube").
@WZW1982

It's very true. I have been playing 15 years and hit a plateau that I think a lot of people encounter. It takes dedication and a lot of productive practice ( < very important) to go beyond that. You have to really want it. Or be so driven by expression that achieving it is not a decision but a natural step in your life.
