I agree that in general CBU3 does a good job of this, but at the same time what you're not seeing as a new player is the ~7 years that Living Dead went unchanged despite it being almost universally hated in the community (from what I hear yoshi-p left it unchanged because of lore reasons.)

Oh yeah bro, it only took 7 years for this change to DRK, changed SAM that no one asked for, boring ass healer roles, physical range SMN that's so brain dead that you can make a 1 button macro and parse purple and trash ass MCH that has 0 purpose in the game but griefing any party they're in. They TOTALLY listen to community feedback. You're overly positive about getting thrown scraps.

If you have complains, use the in game support. It’s working well though. But try to be more constructive and respect l, otherwise it’s just like shoving to ppl face for that.

To be honest, I always thought SE doesn't watch Xenos because they don't like him. But after seeing these changes I would advise dollar tree Kratos to shine that gorgeous head of his, Yoshida might indeed be watching.

While to some he might look negative he still have solid criticism over tank jobs and sometimes other stuff too. I think the FFXIV team in general is open minded enough to take any form of criticism even if they disagree with some. Feedback is feedback good or bad and if u run a live service u live or die by that feedback.

As much as I like the changes theres still quite a lot of work left to do like fixing Salted Crap, Lolblation and Dork Mind just to mention a few not counting TBN being totally outdated compared to other job's equivalent, so no, its not an A and more of basic fixes that should have happened years ago

I immediately thought of Xeno when I saw the drk changes. The change to living dead is exactly what I felt it should have done from the beginning and I love it so much.

Props to the editor! I really like the old-timey effect you put on the inserted video clips from the past. It gave the video a lot of extra character.

Thank God, DRK is my main class, anything with a greatsword is my go to.

I did some test in e4s unsynced no echo as it starts with a TB. With 77k hp, every hit I did healed 21k hp (crit not counted) so whatever you do, 4 hits will cleanse the debuff 100%

I only got to test living dead once and with a massive group using an aoe it was healing close to 10k per hit. Rebirth activates literally with only 1 second passing lol.

GNB main here to weigh in on greedy wants: Sounds like a lot but... I'd like a 50-100% increase in healing potency for HoC and Aurora. An extension to No Mercy wouldn't hurt either, but the core rotation feels good right now. Also for those that want to quibble over that being potentially too much... Bloodwhetting, Equilibrium(+Thrill of Battle), and Clemency would still probably outstrip GNB sustain even with those buffs.

@@starbard691 Yes damage reduction is good (but the same could be said of the rest of the tanks at raw mitigation), but health sustain is not. There's a reason you can do no healer runs as a WAR where you might not with any other tank, and that gap was pretty wide until PLD started catching all the buffs.

in case of gunbreaker they should add a protection to your gnashing fang combo where if you started but then you need to move the boss and double weave you could go back to your main 123 or any other gcd without interrupting the combo of course they also need to increase the duration of no mercy but everyone including xeems have been saying that and in case of dark knight's sustain I've got couple ideas 1- take the description of oblation and put it on dark mind(oblation will be an upgrade to tbn) 2- combine abyssal drain with salted earth and add a debuff to enemies inside the dot pool making every damage they take( even from the party) or a percentage of it goes as heal to the dark knight and of course the button changes to the second ability 3- oblation just takes current tbn and adds a heal either if the shield breaks or not if it breaks you get 10% of max hp as heal and if it doesn't break the remaining of the shield is converted to hp with a minimum value of the former 10%, meaning for example if there is 3% remaining shield you still get 10% heal and if 12% remaining shield you get 12% heal now we could argue about the value of the minimum amount of heal you get from it but that's just my idea

Everything that normally goes through tank invulns this ain't exclusive to dark knight every tank invuln is the same

You can 3 gcd heal if you have a combo'd souleater as one of hit.

I haven't tried DRK yet since the fix. I'm hopeful. DRK was my first tank, and my favorite until just like 2 months ago

also I don't see this get mentioned but with blood weapon change and early level stalwart souls dark knight actually now has a normal aoe routation that actually feels good with you being able to hit 5 blood weapon normally now where as previously you need to use your single target routation or do some weird delirium shenanigans to hit 5 blood weapons with aoe.

DRK and WAR got all the major changes I wanted, so fuckin hyped for this patch

@@DeeFourCee if youre soloing old content, then id assume youre doing it unsynced, and depending on what it is you should be able to mitigate through a tank buster rather than use living dead. But the basic principle is the same. No matter what content, you should theoretically be able to heal yourself out of living dead so that you wont die after its duration, as long as there is an enemy to hit

@@DeeFourCee for stormblood EX, i actually did the 4lords (i think thats what its call) to farm with my tank friend for his mount and we were able to double tank each boss and it was doable that way. When trying to solo SB trials, it might be possible but i was never able to meet the dps check as a tank. To be fair i only tried once or twice solo

3.0 DRK was definitely something special but I'm really glad you're getting to enjoy it now

Warrior getting an easy fix to inner release stacks while rdm over there still have dualcast cast canceled by sprint and pots

The pld changes initially made me so excited because you could move your Valor combo around. In my mind you could have it so you could have double Valor under tincture. But someone on the balance did the math and said it was worse. Oh well, I think it'll allow for some nutty optimization in the future.

There will likely be a fight or two where you can gain a DPS edge abusing it but as mentioned its mostly fat finger insurance. PLD is the lowest DPS tank still I think and missing Confiteor/blade combo was probably too punishing to casual PLD players. That and the new combo changes make PLDs a bit more flexible in using their support kits, though that doesn't really apply to savage.

Hell of a step in the right direction for DRK, just sad it took this long for some of these changes. I'll see you in Patch 12.1 when they finally finish tuning DRK. Still got the shit trait for the pet/dot/thingy, and the Asmon Special(plunge recast). TBN is still worse than the rest of the other tanks' short-term mitigation.

And DRK's actual "HP regen" ability is tied to a 300 second cooldown. For reference, WAR has the exact same ability on a 25 second cooldown.

When I saw the living dead change, the only thing that came in mind was your reaction to it.

Maybe this is a stupid question and since I'm still leveling warrior that's probably the case but why does warrior not get an aoe gauge builder until the 70s? Am I missing something or does it make as little sense to other people as it does to me that you get a spender way earlier but not a builder? Wouldn't that just mean I should be saving my gauge for single target then, at least until I can easily replace it? I'm confused.

No it's just stupid. One of the few times I think the developers were 100% idiots. The best you can do is use infuriate in aoe and then inner release at 70. If you have gauge during aoe use it since it's not hard to gain anyway

I think drk should get overtime healing for standing in salted earth, then it should get a burst heal with salt and darkness for every enemy hit by it. Plus the range of salted earth should be increased

Just tried it, if Delirium is up it’s an automatic cleanse. It’s a straight death otherwise if you’re reliant on that for the cleanse.

No that's not correct at all. It doesn't matter what gcd you use the heal will always be 1500. So any 4 gcds will slef cleanse

Any 4 hits. So an aoe that hits four targets is an instant it seems like.

The Kaiten removal has been overblown anyway now that SAM can still meld Direct Hit and it matters since Midare and Namikiri only Critical Hit instead of _Critical Direct Hit._

@@Grav53 except we didn't just straight up loose 2000 dps... the values, if I read the notes right, were moved around on sam so they'd still be outputting roughly the same damage, but differently.

@@aliciafraser1835 Look at FFlogs and say that again. The notes say one thing but math and results are another. We lost 2000 dps because of the potency loss from Kaiten, and the shift in potency to our other attacks do not nearly make up for the loss. Going from a 990 potency attack (with Kaiten) to 600 is a gigantic nerf compared to just critting on a 990 potency ability. Even if you Crit direct hit every single Midare , you're still losing out on several hundred potency just from the 360 potency loss alone. If they really wanted to keep it the same, they would have actually done the math. Instead we got fucked.

Xeno i did try to do solo E12S as drk with the new LD i used on the tb and i could solo heal myself out from the WD with the weaponskills i got as furtherst to like the titan phase

Not going to lie, when I saw the changes to Dark Knight I immediately thought, "I want to see how Strummer responses to this"

So now, TBN changes? Either Edge/Flood need to have their own cd and mp cost removed or vice versa for TBN. Delete Oblation and just rework Dark Mind to function like that. Can introduce another skill/ability/trait for removing Oblation….or re-introduce an previously deleted Drk skill/ability from past expansions.

Nah TBN is good as it is. I have no desire for that ability to just become another tank CD. It's unique because of it's risk-reward system and super low cooldown that makes it extremely versatile in a prog setting. Oblation sucks, but they just need to add a self heal onto it or something and I think DRK will be fine.

@@ethanhenderson3942 Tanks that use magic for offense and defense: Clemency - 2k mp The Blackest Night - 3k mp Holy Spirit/Holy Circle - 1k mp each (dmg and self healing) Edge/Flood of Shadow - 3k mp each (if Dark Arts not active and just dmg) Don’t think it would hurt for Drk to see at least a reduced mp cost for whenever they use those magic abilities

I am not sure abr ir changes. Optimal would probably be super close timed prepull ir moving my timings (only relevant current tier though) but getting all 3 stacks off being super close is...probblematic.

When I played DRK I never touched Living Dead because it was too easy to screw it up, mistime it, any number of things could go wrong and not only did I waste the CD, but now I'm on the floor dead, from an ability that's supposed to help prevent that haha. I'll certainly try to learn to use it more properly now.

Now we only lack Sole Survivor, Tar Pit for sustain, delete dark mind and restore Shadow Veil, cut the mana cost on TBN turn the spells into weaponskills, separating Carve and Spit/Abyssal Drain CD and, maybe, work on that unmend trait.

That intro stole my sub while I wasn't looking

Call me fanboying or whatever, but we're a a little bit of clunk cleanup on GNB away from pretty much being in the golden age of tanks. Probably some other nitpicks to clean up with DRK and WAR but with the 6.1 changes, it's hard to ask for much more.

That glorious intro lifted my mood a bit after getting written up for having an earbud in walking to the lunch room for break. Otherwise, I'm kind of fuming.

Living dead is basically benediction in trash pulls however the healing part will disappear once undying rebirth takes affect so mitigation is needed to not drop to low health again. EDIT: They had living dead in such a state for so long that most healers don’t know about this change or think I’m trolling them.

When I looked into the note especially fix of living dead and then I just realized Xeno is god. The solution was exactly what he proposed in previous video. Now it's an qualify skill and remains class style as Dark knight.

Imo all dark knight really needs now is a bit more mitigation. Maybe tack something onto dark arts. Make it so when your blackest night is absorbed you get like 5 to 10 seconds of say 15% damage mitigation. Or maybe make it so dark mind blocks more than just magical. If that happens dark knight will be perfect

Finally. I can play DRK again.

most of the sensitive 14 players hate xeno but i still like him because he speak the truth. DRK is SAVED, even the self mitigation is still need a lot of improvement but the LD rework and Blood weapon is good enough Edit :Most sensitive players.

@@Sammysapphira what I meant of improvement is like drak mind mits at least make it can take all dmg. Ofc in raid everyone prefer DRK because they do dmg and have quite short invuln. And tbn is good with flat mit. But in dungeons is another story.
