Yes they use scripts but it doesn't mean that they can't actually do all of the stuff they're doing without using cheats and especially on other games. Most of the stuff they're doing is impossible to do without using cheats and scripts. They are basically using everything you could ever imagine to their advantage; in which, they put everything together for one whole advantage... speed.

The problem was never with any of the skips that they do. As I’ve stated in another comment, the problem stems from the bunnyhop script, changing host timescale, and manipulating item spawn RNG. The bunnyhopping they do in this video is not possible to do in a single segmented RTA run, there is way too much room for error. The timing between hops changes when there’s change in elevation on the map. With practice you can get good bunnyhops, I’m not denying that, but you’re not going to bunnyhop uphill like they do on the first level in a RTA run. They also use host timescale which gives them more time to react than they normally would. This gives them a huge advantage over RTA runners, because their aim and reaction times are going to be nearly perfect. These runs are also segmented, meaning they take their best time for each level and use that in the video. All of this combined means these runs will always be faster than RTA runs because of the advantages they give themselves. So then people see these runs then compare them to RTA runs because they don’t realize the difference.

Its still true. But they have their own way of speedrunning. And they use every command they can to make it easier to complete which helps them get their best time. I don't care what they use, its more entertaining the way the call speedrunning in their technique.

I get what you're saying but please stop saying it makes people look bad. The first time i saw their videos, i tried it and it didn't work until i used their script. So i already knew it was impossible. That's why their videos give me motivation to bhop on other possible games, for example portal 2, because the way they show how you can do this in any way possible no matter if its using cheats/scripts. There's also no possible way to bhop and gain the velocity high enough to go that speed so i totally agree with using scripts for this game.

All Snipers do 90 damage.. Everyone had a Sniper. 90x4=360 And I believe a Tank on Easy is about 2,000-3,000.. so it takes like 5-10 shots each to kill a Tank.. i gotta try this on versus smh

For the sake of RTA, non-TAS, no scripting, sv_cheats 0 runners like myself, all I ask if that you please make it clear in the title what this run is. Nobody reads deep into the description and I'm probably going to get even more comments now that you've uploaded this. Also, you should mention that you have cheats enabled and are using a fairly slow host_timescale, because that's a pretty huge deal too. I don't see that anywhere in the description, but this was clearly played at a very slow timescale.

“Speedrun is not fully TAS” That didn’t even make sense. It’s a TAS run or it’s not, there is no in-between. It’s known that they use a script to bunnyhop, they manipulate the item spawn RNG, change the host timescale, and the runs are segmented. This makes it way easier to run the game. However, this isn’t really the point. They have a big fanbase when you consider how many people play the game, so for a lot of people these are the runs they think of when they hear L4D2 speedrunning. So when people see RTA runs they are wondering why they aren’t completely perfect. This makes RTA runners look worse than they are, and it becomes really annoying when people don’t understand the difference. Just imagine you’re a casual viewer here, you see times that are between 4-6 minutes for the game then you see an RTA run which are generally in the 9-12 minute range. You’ll probably think the runner is bad.

You can't break the game and enable cheats "Just4Fun" and then upload it as a legitimate speedrun, you do it personally and it stops there. When this is deceptively put out there for uninformed viewers to see, they think this is what the game really looks like when speedrun in a real environment which couldn't possibly be any farther from the truth. As MrFailzz said, there is no "fully TAS", it's either assisted by tools or it isn't. Just the bhop script alone starts a TAS classification, never mind *enabling cheats!!* to play the game at half or less time and editing maps to get favorable spawns. No average viewer knows the incredible lengths the game has been modified from its legitimate state to be played like seen here, and it is a disservice to the entire community to upload it as if it's a real speedrun. The fact that cheats are enabled for timescale should be clearly labeled as well at the very least, if not even discontinued in use entirely. Do you see the guy saying "Absurd aim O.O"? This is misleading him. It is misleading everybody.

Ah, hey, the convars have been added to the description. It still doesn't mention sv_cheats 1, however, which is also a command that was changed for this run. Considering cheats are enabled I do think that should be in the title as well since it isn't a simple TAS as I wouldn't consider cheats a mere tool.

So, when people see this and then find an RTA they end up comparing them without realizing there is a huge difference between the two. So you’re saying it’s better to take some of the most challenging aspects of running this game away because it takes a lot of time? This is only my perspective on this, but I don’t see the point in doing something that’s supposed to be challenging if you’re going to remove a lot of the challenging aspects. (RNG, Bunnyhopping, without changing host timescale) Also, changing the FCVAR_CHEAT flag is essentially the same thing as enabling cheats to my understanding. If it was flagged as a cheat command originally then it’s a cheat command, plain and simple.
