Sanguineous's soul wouldn't be dragged into the warp when he died, so I can well imagine his spirit continuing to fight the powers of chaos. And surely the bigE would join him too

Blood angels have been suspiciously absent from Vigilus. Good short story by guy Haley on Astorath post devastation. That’s about all the info I’ve found.

Remember, after the Emperor, Sanguinius is the second most revered/worshipped figure in the Imperium... And prayers can do strange things in the warp.

It's not the Prayer that powers the warp, but the Emotions and thoughts.(If I misinterpret something wrong please correct me) The Imperium loves the Emperor and the Astartes love their Primarchs. And i think that's what gives the Warp entities strength.

There's a theory that Sanguniess is the 2nd strongest psyker of the primarchs, just below Magnus the Red. So I'd say as well it was Sanguniess in the flesh per say.

Poor Dante needs his death he is weary and old , he craves the everlasting rest! I truly hope gw gives him that , as much as he is my fav character in the hole 40k series! Just read “Dante” a truly amazing read ... i recommend it from all my heart!

You need the express permission of a space marine to become a dreadnought there's a story of a dying marine coming in and out of consciousness while the chapter is begging him to just say the words to be allowed to become a dreadnought because they can't make him one without his permission

Ahh I mean power wise Sanguinius already beat a greater daemon in combat and people say that one of the few reasons he lost to Horus was cause he had fought so much more before he met Horus in combat so maybe if he does gain more power and return as a warp entity, I would say he might be above demon prince lvl, Lemun Russ had a pretty close fight with Chaos enhanced Horus.

@@reasonablekinda2269+ To be fair, Chaos Horus vs Russ was nor Horus completely em p owered like he was vs the Emperor or Sanguinius. Moreover, Horus was basically being worn like meatsuit by all 4 Chaos Gods by the time he fought Sanguinius and the Emperor afterwards, that's one Hell of a thing to be facing down - especially when he's just held the Eternity Gate non stop for as long as he did. Our Glorious Hawk Boy was legendary. . Honestly, I feel like Warp Empowered Sanguinius would be a great counter to Daemon Prince Angron who, should he return any time soon, would be so overpowered by all of the ridiculous levels of bloodshed, war and turmoil going on right now, that I can't realistically imagine anyone else being able to stop him directly - except of course, Arch Angel Sanguinius.

Maybe Sanguinius did beat Horus and it was a Black Raged Sanguinius that the Big E had to face therefor it made more sense that the Big E was holding back for a while due to love for his most loyal son. Who knows. It’s a much better theory than just for Sanguinius to lose to Horus like that.

This is heart breaking so close to peace yet to be denied for the sake of the imperium

It is beautiful to see how Sanguinius loves his sons...the way this has been written warms the heart

Sanguinius' soul was confined to the Vengeful Spirit, but there was a theory that his soul splintered, and one fragement brought back the Sanguinor, and maybe another few shards are floating about. I never want Dante to End. Ever. But with 1st Captain Karlaen apparently going to die soon and no successor named really its going to be tradegy.

My pseudo cannon is that a dying, remorseful, and chaos abandoned Horus blasted a Black Rage induced Sanguinius using his own soul as ammo. This splintered the fallen angels soul into 3 loosely connected pieces. One on the Vengeful Spirit, the Sanguinor, and one that went into the warp.

Dante will stop Abbadon killing the Emperor but Cipher has the self destruct button for the golden throne and then the Emperor will be reborn and ascend into the warp and finally finish the Chaos Gods

Important to note also as the only confirmed living and active Primarch, Guilliman believed Sanguineous to be the greatest of the Primarchs and that he as one of his dauntless few could help him win any battle. Guilliman's respect for Dante is such that he sees him as his equal not a lesser being or just one of the sons of his brother. Great praise for a demigod to see and treat you as their equal.

This made me tear a little, it’s palpable not only the reverence, respect and unbreakable loyalty each Space Marine feels for their Primarch, but above else , the love each son feels for their Father

It'll be real, remember how the emperor called ferrus manus "ghost" in the battle for the webway. Im willing to bet that really was Ferrus soul, same as sanguinius soul being around. Raises an interesting question is that what Eldar avatars are but given a body to fight in...and is that how games workshop may allow some of the "dead" primarchs to come back if not temperarily like the avatar of khaine.

Honestly this is the true tragedy of the Blood Angels, the greatest of the First Founding Chapters, and Dante seemingly cursed to an entire lifetime of war, his rest will only come once he defeats Abaddon in the Throne Room on Holy Terra where they both mortally wound each other and Dante gets the final blow against Abaddon but it kills him doing so and the very last we see is Sanguinius and the Emperor each lifting his soul from his body and saying "rest now, my son, my avenging angel", that would be such an emotional moment and almost a reenactment of Horus vs the Emperor

I love Blood Angels so much. Personally I choose to believe Sanguinius spoke to Dante. I hope we get a wonderful new model for both of them :)

It's implied that at least a portion of Sanguinius's soul is trapped on The Vengeful Spirit.

@@kelman727 In Talon of Horus when Sekhander, and his trope, find the Vengeful Spirit and make their way through its halls, they notice ice figures sprouting from the walls. Each Ice figure represents each person who has died on the vengeful spirit, hence the name of the ship. One of those Ice figures is that of Sanguinius and when one touches the ice figures they get flashbacks of their deaths.

Poor Dante just cant get a break. If anyone deserves a rest its him. Shed a tear when he was begging his father for death. Hes done so much for the imperium. Literally given his entire life to service and has fought war after war. Hes just exhausted. But the imperium needs him now more than ever. Hes one of the greatest heroes if not the greatest hero in the entire 40K universe.

Keep this up my man! The book parts are awesome!

I love the possibility of the Emperor having another world/level of existence like the Chaos Gods do. They have the Garden of Nurgle and the Palace of Slaanesh...why can’t the Emperor have some sort of realm in the Warp of his own with his Greater Angels like Sanguinius and Ferrus Manus? **RECOMMEND you re-read the Master of Mankind** Wolf Lord Rho--there’s a scene in the Battle where the demon created from the First Murder, presented as an extremely powerful demon, is coming for the Emperor and he responds by going out to fight this monster....and the scene depicts the Emperor blasting the hordes of demons with fire and the fire having figures in it which resemble dead Space Marines and even hints at Ferrus Manus being represented here too....maybe a manifestation of the Emperor’s Angels battling Demons?? That could be another great video to make-that scene where the Emperor fights the demon of the First Murder?? And his interaction with the Custodians involved, and Rha. GREAT scene!! Love your channel!

There actually is an excerpt in Index Astartes III where Ferrus appears to the Iron Hands following the Emperors death. Where he was he was getting stronger. He then promises his sons that he would return.

@@alastair4839 Because that daemon was born of the first murder among men. I think it was the emperor's uncle killing his father. The daemon is tied to the fate of humanity, destined for the only purpose to kill the Emperor and destroy the hopes of humanity. That is why he could not kill it. It's just that powerful.

I think it's a vision, because it's so Angelic it fits that Sanguinius would contact Dante even in Death!

Other hints include the direction of the tears and the floating. He was clearly part of the warp, his soul had returned to his primarch. This is a major canon plot point... I think the writers and GW is gearing up for some major hitting reveal of the true power of the Primarchs in the future.

By the blood of sanguinius... I'm in complete shock. I'm at a loss for words.

Devastation of Baal was a great book. Wonder if Dante will get the Primaris treatment like Calgar.

Have been binge listening to these videos for the last 3 days...epic content. I tend to think that the vision of Sanguinius is probably a part of the collective unconscious of the Blood Angels. Like Carl Jung alludes to wisdom being found from within, the same is true for Space Marines, but the wisdom is vividly represented by the form of their Father Primarch's.

Dante, one of my favorite Space Marines with Gabrial Angelus and Pedro Kantor.

This passage got me choked up a bit. Dante is vastly one of my fav characters. One that keeps making me want to build and paint some blood Angels.

Of all of the characters in the canon of 40k, I would say that Sanguinius is the most captivating and terrifying of all. And Dante.......so heroic yet tragic. I know no other literally character you compare him to except Cirdan in Tolkiens lore. Wanting to pass over the eternal sea of eternity but having one last thing to see to, but so long away. Even Gilliman called him as close to a living Primarch as there ever could be.

I come back to watch this all the time and it his father telling him to keep fighting until its time to come rest by his side with the emperor at the golden throne.

That was very sad. This whole thing has the Blood Angels mood.. and Sanguinius is just so.. himself.

Dante's like a millennium years fuck old. Of course he saw That awesome Hawk boi, he's a badass geezer who's so old the warp's movin in on that prime territory!

When you think you're done but somewhere in your deepest minds or through your mentor, "Not yet, One more time." And you resist the urge to keep going but it's almost automatic / instinctive that you must keep going. Your body instinctively gets ready for the "One More Time" yet again. That's what the video and reading of the passage made me think about. Very insightful and sorry I'm late to the video. :(

Beautiful passage it really shows that in the universe of Warhammer 40,000 there is no rest for the weary. Sacrifice is the greatest and most noble act in an age of endless war.

I enjoyed Dante I'm not a big bloody Angel fan but the book of where how Dante becomes a bloody angel and just the whole lore behind him this you got to enjoy them even though you're not if you're not a bloody Angel fan you have to respect Dante son of dawn on that thank you very much I enjoyed the lure I look forward to the next have a good evening.

If anyone could live on after death (besides the Emperor, beloved by all) it would be Sanguinius. I hope we get to see him, the Emperor, and all the other loyalist Primarchs for the final battle.

currently reading the Devastation of Baal. I dont count myself among the ranks of the Blood angels. but man I respect them, and can relate with their internal and eternal struggles. I think thats what makes this book and the story of the blood angels so powerful.

I sometimes wonder if the Sanguinius from Dante's dream is actually the Emperor and Dante is actually Sanguinius. Especially with that reference to Dante being he's "Greatest Son" it kind of makes me wonder if Dante has always been Sanguinius's reincarnation from the beginning and is only now, starting to slowly comprehend this through dreams and visions. Perhaps Dante will only comprehend the entire truth when he lands up fighting to protect the Emperor once again from someone like Abaddon.

@@ninjaturtle574 I didn't mean that Dante is a Primarch as Dante is clearly only a normal Space Marine. But that the soul which inhabits the body of Dante is actually Sanguinius come again. Who knows with Calgar becoming a Primaris, who is to say Dante can't become one as well and if Dante can become a Primaris, then couldn't future story allow Dante to evolve further. Perhaps even eventually becoming a Primarch and coming full circle arriving at Sanguinius himself?

It was not a dream it was real. Dante for all his accomplishments would never call himself the greatest of Sanguinius's sons. Sanguinius truly loves his sons and you can hear the pain in his voice asking Dante to live. As death and the ability to be with his father is the only thing Dante wants. What would be interesting, if Dante was infused some of Sanguinius power when he forced him to return. Knowing that Gulliman would need it in the coming years.

The warp is the field of energy/consciousness from where all life springs and where all souls return upon death. We even visit this realm when we dream. Therefore Dante literally spoke to the soul/spirit of Sanguinius in my opinion.

Dante seems to be a literal reliving of Sanguinius. A warrior without peer and a noble soul without equal... One who knows he must suffer and struggle who gives everything for humanity and the Emperor, despite wanting nothing more than to rest. It's quite beautiful, yet so deeply sad... Just like the Blood Angels, and their Primarch father. Any citizen of the Imperium who loses heart should look to the example of Dante, and fight on like the greatest son of the Angel.

100% real. Sanguinious is psychic and can affect others by his psychic power and emotions. He used his power to revive Dante, and the Primarch's demeanor is exactly like the loving angel we have seen before. Great read!!

Primarchs were made by some degree of warp energy, and Sanguinius aside from this brother Magnus had some warp powers aswell particularly the power of foresight... It is said when he died, he send psychic ripples through the minds of all his sons... I would say a powerful psyker, A PRIMARCH Psyker no less, would have some measure of presence even after death (not to compare anything but even Star wars had force ghosts for great jedi) If they were to bring back Sanguinius this has to be one of the best ways to bring him back, like he is back...but back as something completely different...he is more like an ACTUAL ANGEL now, where he needs to gather energy inside the warp to manifest himself and maybe 10x As powerful then before...but at the cost of not being able to stay and lead his Sons like he used to, only able to muster and manifest himself during great battles Everyone always knew that the Sanguinor WAS the ghost of Sanguinius I would say this is much better then simply making the dumb 'OH BUT SURPRISE OUR HERO WAS NEVER DEAD!' plos twist that hollywood and marvel love to do so much these days

Poor Dante. He deserves rest but no-one wants him to die. I truly hope he gets to fulfil his prophecy of giving his life to save the Emperor at the last. Nothing else would be a worthy end in my opinion unless it's resurrecting Sanguinius somehow.

GW needs to really bring this guy back.

Can't wait for Sanguinius and Vulkan to get back and start turning things around for humanity. Of all the loyalist Primarchs I think they care the most about the Emperors dream of a better life for all humanity and actually creating it rather than just defeating their or the Emperor's enemies and calling humanity improved because it's safer. I honestly think the three of them together is better for running the Empire than Johnson,Guilliman, and Sanguinius were. Johnson is good for war and NOTHING else, he doesn't relate to or even care about anyone or thing else except in the abstract and it's all expendable to serve his desires. Sanguinius, Guilliman, and Vulkan have Noblese Oblige, the responsibility of a ruler to their people. The other loyalist Primarchs don't seem to see themselves as having an obligation to make life easier and better for All of humanity. The others seem to rule because they are the most powerful and won't be subjugated by anyone, rulership by default. Sangunius specifically educates his Blood Angel's in art, philosophy, and literature to make them better well rounded and insightful (post) humans, Gulliman built the 500 worlds of Ultramar and set about educating his people and marines in state craft and science, Vulkan perhaps even more so than Guilliman entrenched his marines with his people so they maintained the "common touch" and bond with baseline humanity (as much as a 300 yr old giant obsidian skinned biologically engineered death machine that occassionally plays stickball with the kids can be considered as just another member of society). To me at least, Dorn, Manus, Khan, Johnson, Corax, and Russ don't seem to have the same regard and reverence for humanity or view of leadership as a responsibility to those ruled. Admittedly I could be wrong on my view of Manus as I don't know his story as well as the others, but it has never come across to me that he would be a compassionate even if necessarily harsh ruler.

I think Khan might also be one of the better leaders, and that it's just lack of knowledge about him keeping him from your list of the greater primarchs.

@@jackfrost2978 possibly. I really like the Khan but I do need to do more looking into him. Personally I don't see him making a good leader for humanity, and that's specifically what I'm talking about, he doesn't seem to have a desire to be a ruler and Empire builder. He lacks a vision for All of humanity as a single entity. His own planet he didn't set out to improve other than more fair rulership. I think the Khan would be a great custodian for humanity if he had to be, I don't think he'd want the throne and it doesn't suit him any more than it suits Russ. Not saying he or the others would do a bad job, just some would be better than others. So far as general Primarch evaluation I put the Khan among my tops. He doesn't brag, he keeps his actual martial prowess to himself, I think he'd surprise a few of his brothers on a battlefield. Curze, Russ, Angron, Sanguinius, and either Khan or Corax would be my picks for best fighters one on one. Probably one of the smarter Primarchs imo as well. When Horus ,Alpharius, and The Khan confront Malcador about the plinths it seems to me Horus is being played by Alpharius against Malcador to see if Horus' inevitable tantrum will get Malcador to let anything useful slip. Like a game between Varis and Little Finger in game of thrones and Horus is so mad he doesn't see it, but The Khan does. He seems to be the only one listening to Malcador and trying to put together the bigger picture, and keep Horus out of too much trouble. Horus is his hot tempered best friend practically. Horus is wound up in his pride, Alpharius in his plots and information gathering( how much does Malcador know I know?), Khan hangs back and takes it all in. Again, just my opinion and I do need to read more about Jaghatai

After reading the new siege of terra book, the emperor saves the khan. He could not save sanguinius by the preset lore but if he saved his soul and made him essentially another god

I think it may be possible that the emperor foresaw his own and the fall of sanguinius at the hands of horus, so I think he allowed it so that he could save sanguinius' and his own soul in the warp for a greater purpose than GW has currently revealed.

Sorry to rain on the parade guys but this was clearly a dream.

Could the angel come back? What if Russ finds and brings the angel and corax back?

it was definitely real. the evidence to me is how many times the Sanguinor has interacted with Dante. the only time the Sanguinor has ever been recorded to speak was to Dante. and even if it was a dream, it could still be real. I also really love the idea that the Emperor, Sanguinius, and Ferrus are in the warp together holding back the ocean of chaos. maybe even Konrad and Alpharius are there too, that would be nice.

Everybody always forgets the powers of the warp hold such a strong middle finger to multitudes of logic. Even against death. There's no one else except GW, who could say anything otherwise on the matter. So to me, i feel it was Sang, by fact, not opinion.

It was Dante's subconscious speaking to his conscience. It touches on Dante's "Ego" embattled with Dante's Persona. Being humble doesn't mean you're blind to definition and reality. But, I think that was Dante confronting himself in that he is tired BUT knows he is not done, he knows of no other Blood Angel brother that could carry the mantel. Dante came face to face with himself where he could admit how tired he was. My opinion...

Your opinion is contrary to nearly every great work of Blood Angel lore. I have never read anything that would suggest Dantes "Ego".

Let Dante rest he has done enough.
