    Is it me, or does this piece sound so much more appropriate on the pipe organ. I've loved this piece as a kid and this may be my favorite version.

    Few people know this, but orchestras were created in order to emulate the pipe organ. It's the perfect song for an organ.

    I will never take for granted the absolute privilege it is to have this beautiful music brought to my ears. The quality of the video and recording equipment can make you almost feel like you're right there beside Jonathan.     The percussive "chiff" of the stop at 0:35 is absolutely PERFECT for this piece. LOVE this rendition and this instrument.

    EPIC!!! I’m going to blast this from my house on Halloween. Why does this organist specifically play my favorite symphonies, like he knows which particular ones I want to hear?     @@JR3714 Oh my gosh, I just saw your comment and went there straight away. Man, Jonathan Scott is some kind of Sorcerer himself! I've never seen anyone play that many songs or symphonies on an organ like that. Who else can do this?! I bet if I gave him a whole Beatles album to play, he could do that too lol! Simply amazing. Bravo to him and his brother on the camera and audio 👍👍

    Danse Macabre literally means Dance of Death... it certainly has that spooky tone that lets you imagine a ghostly waltz to go with it. And on the organ, even more so.

    I'm running a Curse of Strahd D&D campaign right now and I plan to make my players dance with Count Strahd's brides to this. Then later when they fight the brides it'll be a metal version.

    I would agree, but, the video has been up for seven months now and only has 16 dislikes, as opposed to the 2k likes, which is one of the best like to dislike ratios I've seen

    @scottbrothersduo - Just to let you know, there is a typo in one of the stops under the Great division. "Cornet IV-C (T.C.) 8" should read "Cornet IV-V (T.C.) 8". I'm a student of the organ and was struggling to understand why that Cornet stop had a "C" there...haha. :] Thanks for the video!

    In fact the notes being black (or dark brown) and the sharps/flats white was the de facto standard in baroque times on organs and harpsicords.

    The first time I heard this played on the organ was by Ian Tracey in Liverpool. As far as I'm concerned, it is now a piece wasted on an orchestra and the organ version is far superior.

    Saint-Saens music is so aesthetic and beautifully unique. Would have wanted to change the title to The Dark World because the original sounds really creepy.

    @@andrewgreenwood8554 I looked for one of my views several months ago, of a group of organists around the world that each took a section of a chosen piece, and played it in their respective churches. I was mesmerized. But, the one organ and sound that I enjoyed the most, was THIS one! Whenever I listen to Jonathan playing this piece, my throat closes up!

    Preset stop settings can be triggered by either a thumb press or a foot press - at 2:23 thats likely a toe press trigger

    Probably a preset piston, where you can preset stop settings and activate them with buttons either on the pedalboard or beneath each manual
