Use a rubber bead as a stopper and let the micro ring swivel slide over the hook. Discard the rubber! Less is more and more cleaner presentation.

I think he just likes using a d on his rigs like he has done with his d-rig variations from the IQ d rig and the hybrid stiff variations. I was thinking that the rubber allows the bait to move up and down more easily than it would do on a hook, which according to Neil spooner, helps the hooking properties of the rig. Go to the long range masterclass to have a look yourself.

I use 12lb naylon a 8 curb Shank hair rig 1 foot trace from bomb and 1ssg 1inch from hook love your rigs I don't think it would work but their not monsters like the ones in your brilliant fishery I seen that video , brilliant 👍
