@@gnomebob I knew about the original before I heard this Danny brown track. The original sounds better, also it means pot in the fire in French. She also made the Dr. Who theme. Delia’s work was a lot of tape slicing and spices. Hours of cuts and slices to sync her experimental music… like days of it. She would record all the samples and dub them and re-tape em’ just to get a certain organic sound out of the sample. It’s pretty interesting how she constructed music. I used to listen to Nurse With Wound when I was a teenager, before I came across any of this. Which is another experimental collective. Same with SPK. I heard Aphex twin or Richard D James is very anti social. I’d imagine it would take a certain level of creativity to work with him… Ask Trent Reznor. They did some work together at one point. Reznor does a lot of experimental stuff for the most part… pretty much everything after Pretty Hate Machine was all layers of experimental work with Coil. Especially Broken and The Downward Spiral. Reznor himself is probably a spiral of pain and terror id imagine. 🤷‍♂️

There's such a potent nervous energy to the song. It could be renamed to "Anxiety Attack: The Song."

I think Danny Brown is sorely, sorely underrated. He is one of the best rappers out skill wise and I can't think of another rapper who is as unique and far out as he is. He's super versitile and changes things up but you always know it's him. I love how he is at a point where if he turned in some pop crap featuring Justin Bieber, he could be huge but instead, he sticks to his own musical vision. Danny Brown is the realness.

I understand where you coming from by saying Young Thug is unique, however, he is still a star in the pop sense of the word. Danny Brown is too unique and real to go the pop route at all. I would say he is in league with Ol' Dirty Bastard in uniqueness. I'm not saying that Danny Brown is at all like ODB, just that they are both always authentically themselves.

I think he built up a bigger fan base in Europe before America so it makes sense for him to sign to an English label. I agree Fools Gold probably would have released this probably not as a single though. Warp has a great legacy and that is probably and indication of the path Danny Brown's music has gone and will go.

Beyond the crazy intrumental, this song is so lyrically interesting, dark and sad. Strong sense of hopelessness

Could you imagine presenting this instrumental or the Ain't It Funny beat to other rappers and seeing if they could make something as amazing as this? Danny had the guts to rap over such strange and and experimental beats and the talent to surpass them and outshine them in every possible way. So glad I was born in time to experience this incredible album on release. Danny Brown is an utter visionary.

TheFerventPsycho I actually love Brockhampton and did listen to that song. They're some of the more experimental artists out there and they haven't put out a song I've disliked. Boogie 100% follows that trend. I'm hoping Saturation III is full of tracks like Boogie, Bump, Heat, and Junky. I'll be 40 soon enough. Copped my first album at Age 5 (Thanks, Mom, for the K-Tel rap compilation!). Been a fan of so many genres. Can remember blackout freestyles in my teens, destroying living rooms during the screamo heyday of the late 90s. Seriously studying Merzbow, Aphex Twin worship, doing AP calculus to Squarepusher, feeling my whole body freeze when I first heard Wrong Side of the Tracks, (literally) getting a neck sprain listening to Daily Operation. Drunken singalongs with Oi! bands just as much as "together forever" anthems with the NYHC stalwarts. So many memories and defining moments. I say all if this to say that Danny Brown gives me that same feel of passion and intensity. His art isn't just appreciated, it is needed. Thanks to the man for his work.

The lyrics are so fucking great, you can almost physically feel the pain that comes with living in a society that tries in every way to fuck with your head and make you feel miserable and misplaced. This and the high pitched new wave like synth with the badass trap beat that has some minimal sound to it and the awesome 90's rock inspired crescendo gives me chills. We'll be looking back at this project as a stepping stone in the hip hop revolution that is coming, danny brown is an amazing artist.

Amazon reccomended Danny Brown to me. I don't even listen to much hip hop. Nailed it though. Thanks weird all-seeing commerce algorithms.

That’s it. Out of the thousands of rap songs I’ve heard in my life, I’ve come to say that this is the best Hip-Hop song of all time. I’ll start with the production.. this is the most insane, left field rap beat I’ve heard in my life. The dark undertone in the background really feels like how it is to live in Detroit, it’s a scary, dangerous place to be in. The lyrics honestly took this song to the next level for me, the struggles of living in such a run down, depraved place has dealt real damage on Danny. You can take Danny out the hood, but you can’t take the hood out of him. The violence, the horrible water system, the theft. It was a struggle to even survive and have basic needs in Detroit. The lead showers double entendre is amazing too, talking about the lead in the water supply, but also talking about bullets, which are lead, falling from the sky. The insane beat definitely makes this song feel more chaotic, because that’s how it was. Damn.

It’s so sad that this album went red, but what an achievement in music

haha much love! life is pointless for most that dont realize its pointlessness.for those of us who can appreciate pain over nothing, keep appreciating that--because of pain we can envision the opposite and take moves towards it FOR OTHERS. dont strive for comfort for yourself, youll get addicted and deny your strength, and fall into the comfort of weakness and hiding. we can experience the way in fighting evil for those who dont know they are supposed to fight evil. be strong, be scared, and be willing to never feel pleasure. that way when the odds fall on you, you can love life without guilt--life is at least 50/50 those are pretty good odds in my book. peace!

looking back on this, you were very, very correct 2016 album of the year

If yall do your music history, Detroit native Danny Brown is showing the disco/house music and dancing that was prevalent in his city. Chicago is the same way. He shouted out "It's time for the Perculator", which is the name of a song that I heard all the time in Chicago, born and raised in that city. They have a dance called "Foot Work", which some of the dancers in this video performed. Talking about the 1980s and 1990s here.

This video is like playing an old corrupted VHS tape from the late 80s and early 90s that is haunted by a horror that is indescribable yet profound.

I saw danny live at soundset 2016,and I would suggest to go see him anywhere you can as soon as possible! He is amazing, the feeling his concerts get is indescribable and you will remember the feeling and time you saw him forever, you gotta be there to really get it, but this song is so dope and hard, can't wait for his new album, old was amazing, hoping somehow someway he can't top this, this song along with his others are many times better and more real than whatever the radio plays lol

JPEGMafia, Injury Reserve, FlyLo's Captain Murphy, Gracy Hopkins among others are so underrated for bringing so much experimental diversity with eerie sounds, new musical concepts and alternative ways of rapping. Danny is included in that niche ofc, these talents do not get the recognition they truly deserve imo, even tho some are starting to get huge. Some of their LPs should be considered classics
