Quin Rose + Indian Red, along with all of them with Phthalo and ultramarine blue - beautiful. Thanks for sharing!

Very nice mixes, especially the complex colors mixed from Indian Red. For a more neutralized mix, Denise Soden from In Liquid Color suggested mixing Indian Red with Cerulean Blue (if I'm not mistaken) for soft and granulating greys and it works very well!

thank you so much! :D and yesss that's a lovely mix indian red and cerulean blue. i've been mixing those for a while too but i'm glad denise is making it known. i think she likes hers to be non-granulating but i prefer granulation and colour separation. beautiful either way :)

so much goodness here! i never would have thought to mix indian red with other reds, they are stunning! that DS indian red seems to be a lot less opaque and intense as the roman szmal, the RS overwhelms me sometimes. i love all the phthalo blue mixes and the indian red + reds. i'm not drawn to yellows/oranges and only keep a couple basics but there are so many possibilities with mixing - definitely need to embrace it more because the phoenixy vibe ones are really beautiful. thanks for doing this one!

you and me both! i hardly indian red with other reds or say… ultramarine blue with other blues. but this swatching exercise was all in all a great discovery 😁 yeah i have the RS indian red as well and your comparison is spot on. also, the DS indian red’s granulation is much more apparent than RS. i love the phoenixy mixes too!! 😆

@@PaintinHiding i love these simple yet exciting discoveries, the ones we normally wouldn't do because they seem so... mundane? and turn out to be totally not! so thank you again for this little experiment!

Those Indian Red mixes are stunning. I actually own the paint, but I never considered mixing it with some of these. Clearly, I have to use it in more mixes! Haha

I am definitely in love with some of these mixes! The Indian red and ultramarine were stunning, and the quins just seem to have a magical quality to them regardless with what you mix them. You really seem to be loving these Daniel Smith paints!

Wow Daniel Smith's Indian red looks so nice when first painted out. Nice to see the different mixes. Quin burnt orange is one I've never tried before.

it granulates more than rembrandt’s, mijello’s, and roman szmal’s. quin burnt orange is quite nice although i think a transparent red oxide would be okay in its place.

@@PaintinHiding Haha, yes and no! 😂 I think the Indian Red is very similar to the Lunar Red Rock I already have, so if I'm gonna try that one that's gonna be sometime in the future after I've used up the tube I have. I definitely want to try the Q. Sienna after this! So that one is now at the top of my list. But I also love the Q. Burnt Sienna 😂 I might wait with that one.

the Quin Sienna is such an attractive love on its own! however when I see it is a 3-pigment paint, I do not want it anymore :( always love the Indian/Venetian kind of colors, especially the DS versions for the granulation
