Pianist and composer Daniel Pesca practicing Dongryul Lee’s Timestory for 13 soloists for the Grossman Ensemble concert on Dec 3 2021 with guest conductor Vimbayi Kaziboni.
The synthesizer is tuned a quarter-tone lower than the acoustic piano, so that the two manuals harpsichord-like instrument can function as a hyper microtonal piano which produces 24 tones in an octave. Composers like Jonathan Harvey, Enno Poppe, and Hans Zender already pioneered this way of combining the piano with synthesizer to expand the capacity and make it as a hyper microtonal multi-manual piano.
The concert will feature four world premieres by Baldwin Giang, Krzysztof Wolek, Dongryul Lee, and Amy Williams at the Logan Center Performance Hall in Chicago.
