I haven't been able to confirm this, but I recall that he used to be in the top 100, but fell out when he started devoting less time to tournament chess? Well, probably a lot of GMs in the 100 to 500 range are like that - they could be inside the top 100 if they devoted themselves to tournament chess more or less full time, but that's just not the best career move for them, so they don't. And probably a lot of people from 20-100 could easily fall out of the top 100 if they spent less time playing tournaments and more time teaching or making content or whatever, but for whatever reason - they're still dreaming of getting to the top, they have family money or generous support from their federation, or they're the top player in their country - they don't.

DANYAAAAAAAAAAAA LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Moves 30 through 40 were the key part of the game, from Qb3, to the c5-Nc4 idea, to the weakening of the b2 pawn, to getting a strategically winning position right as the time control was reached
I'm very happy for Daniel

My two favourite chess KZreaders: Daniel and Daniel!
Well done
Danya is the most wholesome figure in the chess world
I love Danya
Crazy how consistency is what separates the elite from the rest of the pack. Danya is getting close though.

Danya is slick, amiable, and talented.
Didnt know Pete Sampras plays chess
Yes
Everyone is saying wholesome but I think it's him being genuinely positive and kind. Wholesome would make sense if he didn't include his "change my pants" comment which was hilarious
He is the only GM who loves chess the most
great calculation

We chess fans root for daniel coz he taught us how to play beautiful chess.
