It’s been five , with three head coaches , garbage olines, and complete nobodies at reciever. Do you realize we went to the playoffs with the 28th ranked oline , and our top three receivers were Slayton , Hodgins , and James . have all hit FA and now make 6m a year , 900k a year , and currently not on a roster .😂😂😂 while Darnell Mooney and Gabe Davis , mid recievers, make 13m a year a piece . AJ brown and Smith make 58m a year between them . That’s what the league thinks of Slayton , Hodgins , and James . The biggest problem I’ve seen with Jones is for some reason he still doesn’t trust himself fully. He’s had countless times where the play is the there and he hesitates to throw the ball. I do think he is way more talented than people think tho and if he can just trust his decisions, he could be very effective.

The line was bad for everybody not just for Jones. Hell, we ended up with DeVito after Taylor got injured (due to poor o line play. The fact is that Jones played worse than the two backups under similar conditions. He’s not and never was a franchise quarterback.

Call me crazy, but the Giants are prepared to move on from Daniel Jones if he plays poorly this year.

It can't be said enough that the Giants O line last season was historically bad. Probably the worst we've ever seen in the nfl. Any qb behind that line was getting pressured every play and it got our qbs injured multiple times. DJ probably isn't the guy but let's not pretend any qb would've played well with that line

Guys, yes the line was horrible, but fact is DJ and Tommy were taking 8-10 a game, Tyrod more like 3-5. Tommy was a 3rd string guy never meant to take the field, him getting sacked 10 times a game can be understood, but Jones? If Tyrod started every game and stayed healthy, perhaps it would be closer to 60-65 sacks. Still disturbingly bad, but maybe not historically bad.

@@ericbutler739context matters here. It was a different lineup by the time Tommy cutlets took the field. Additionally- by that point, there was a seemingly different play calling attitude. Numerous reports showed that BD took over play calling a couple times. The entire season was a complete and utter shit show.

DJ truthers are going to piss and moan in the comment section and try to blame everyone else but there is no way to excuse these numbers -> 5:16 5:50 BTW DJ ranked 117th in average depth of target while at Duke. This has been a problem for him his entire career. He does not throw deep or outside the numbers consistently. He does not throw with anticipation. He doesn't get the ball out quickly or manipulate the pocket well. He has thrown for more than 20 TD's once in his 5 year career. He has been hurt in 4 of 5 years with 2 season ending injuries. Now he's coming off an ACL which will impact his running ability. Has been called out by multiple opposing defenders (49ers & Seahawks) as a 1 read QB. In 2022 he ran every time his 1st option was not open. By the beginning of the 2023 season opposing DC's had this figured out and filled the B gap taking away his running option. This lead to bad performances and a torn ACL. It's hard to see him turning things around now that he has been exposed. I can't say I'm confident he's gonna turn it around. But crazier things have happened. I think...

The problem this year is there were so many QB needy teams with the top 3 picks being teams that desperately needed a QB. So there were 3 options. Spend way too much to go up, reach for a QB just for the sake of getting a QB, stay put and build for the next QB you will get later. Just like after 2022, NY Giants were kind of just stuck with Jones. Next year, who will need a QB? None of the teams that took one in the first round this year. That's 6 teams that won't be in the running that NY had to compete with this year. Next year, so far, LV, NY and possibly TN will be the only teams looking for a QB. That's 1 possibly 2 teams, as opposed to 6 to compete with. Much cheaper to trade up, more likely a QB will fall, more likely we see a new vet starter and rookie QB on the Giants roster. The only question is who that QB will be after the 2024 season plays out.

How many chances does a qb get ? One good season out of six. It is great that he has cured his fumbling problems. But , he is a starting NFL qb. Dave Gettleman needs to be forgotten, along with his draft picks. If the Giants put Daniel Jones on the open market, what do they get for him ? I bet the answer rhymes with " othing " ?

Additionally, where he went with the ball, if you see… in typical DJ fashion… He gets the ball there, but the receiver drops it, while being absolutely wide open. It was at the very least… a decent 6-7 yards, maybe a first down. At best, also a touchdown. Nothing wrong with where he went with it at all.

Why are you ppl obsessed with DJ?. Tired of being wrong about him? How about letting the season play out. I year removed from leading Giants to playoffs and a Wildcard win. Last year was last year. Healthy and the team around him is better. Finally has a #1 WR prospect and very good complementary WRs that will open things up if the additions to the OLine work out. He'll be ready for training camp and Lock isn't good enough to beat him for QB1. Lock was drafted same year as DJ and is on his third team. Please kill that noise. Lock is just a cheaper Backup than Tyrod. Hopefully a healthier one too. Tyrod missed multiple games to injury in both his seasons with Giants. DJ will be the QB despite all outside opinions. Plus the fact Giants tried to trade up without a sufficient trade offer says NOTHING! Pats said you would have move heaven and earth for them to trade down. Giants were never going to give up that kind of draft capital. So this narrative of they wa t move on because they tried to trade up is nonsense. Accept that you were wrong about the draft even though JS was hinting at WR all off season. Every time when asked about DJ future he responds DJ is our starter unless he experiences a setback in recovery. He hasn't. Move on. Try to predict how all these pieces are going to come together this season for the better. 🤔🤔🤔✌🏾🤦🏾‍♂️

Can anyone name a qb who has been good with such a bad supporting cast without being a pure running qb (has anyone in recent memory even had as bad of a supporting cast)? Daniel Jones came in with slow eyes and mental processing, both can be masked but only so much. He needs a top 5 OLine and WRs that can separate because he doesn't throw the 50/50 ball no gunslinger mentality for all his physical tools he can't carry a team like Eli Manning could. And while that may not be fair but Eli was a gunslinger and trusted his receivers to be open where they're supposed to be Jones doesn't trust his arm or receivers no pocket presence as well... The man is broken like David Carr broken

He played like 2 games with saquon and Andrew Thomas and has a top 3 worst schedule and had the worst o line of all time

The issue with the plan you laid out is if DJ does what he has always done. Be mediocre at best. Mediocre QB play with a healthy defense with an easy schedule might get you a seven seed. That gets you a lower pick and thus harder to trade up. Remember they could not get up from six to three this year to take Maye.

Forget last year as the starting qb of the NY Giants. This will be his last year as the acknowledged qb1 starter on any nfl team. He might get a "chance to compete" for the job, but I think that will go about as well as it did for Sam Darnold in Carolina, Desmond Ritter in Altanta, etc., wherever Oh Danny Boy (the sacks the sacks are calling) ends up. That said, back-up qb has become a pretty important position these days, and Jones seems like he could be a very good back-up for many years to come, with this high completion/low risk/on time style of play. And he already got the big contract, so who knows? Maybe he spends another decade in the league going to wherever suits him because he can afford to "only" get paid a couple million per year, collects a ring or two with a team or two, and retires with a shit ton of money and most of his brain cells. I'd rate that as a very successful nfl career. Of course, I'm not a Giants fan.

He's had no offensive line and no receivers that can gain separation. Of course he gets sacks and is a conservative passer. Dak Prescott? Seriously? If the Cowboys don't want to keep him, why would the Giants want him?

QBs can be really hard to grade on the stat-sheet alone too. You can't get overly carried away, but sometimes there are 'good sacks' and 'good INTs' lol. Like nuking an arm punt on 3rd and a mile is whatever. Getting picked off on a screen on your own 20, possibly for a pick-6 is, a disaster. Eating a sack on 1st or 2nd down is better than forcing a throw that wasn't there and possibly getting a BAD interception. You can always try again next down 😅 BAD sacks are ones that knock you out of reasonable FG range and take points off the board. I can't knock a QB for trying to keep the drive alive if you're outside FG range already tho, or like on the 5 yard line and just trying to get the TD in.

If the guy somehow pulls a Phil Simms and wins a SB MVP for the Giants, enabling him to stay with the team as the starter for the rest of the decade, that's where other certain conspiracy theory becomes believable. Wishful thinking on my part though. Only consolation being had is that Haskins turns out to be worse.

I think they are going with Drew Lock. Lock is going to get all the Pre Season reps. And the injury clause in DJ's contract could potentially guarantee his money for 2025. DJ might not play this year at all. But, we'll see.

He probably won’t play this season. There’s an injury clause in his contract that makes him not be able to get released without paying him a bunch of money and they tried to replace him by trading up in the draft so my guess is they sit him this year and play Drew lock who is a comparable player who is way cheaper and keeps Daniel jones nice and safe to get cut after the season so they can draft their own guy

The Giants are playing thr long game and i think you are right. It's not like they are going to the Superbowl anytime soon, why even bother digging a bigger hole when you can just wait a year and then get everything you want. And you cant push the ball downfield when youre running for your life. And the average depth of target in the NFL is 7.7 So can we stop acting like DJ is 6.8 while everyone else Average depth of target is 15 Because its not even 1 yard more

Then youre not made to be a QB in this league.. look at some of the BEAT DOWNS Eli took, when you were actually allowed to hit the QB. He not only took it but thrived under it and rose above. Daniel cries in the corner, and shrivles.

The team is going to be bad this year. He can put up a career year, if they have a top pick, they’ll replace him next year.

Giants are building a team for the next QB. You cannot Jones this season. 7 year to draft Wr. 10 of consistently worse Offensive line. Also we're in committee for RB.

I will be surprised if DJ makes it through the season as a starter. If he starts to falter, in will come Lock. I don't view lock as a better QB, just someone not named DJ. Our oline is better, how much remains to be seen. We definitely have a better wr group. The running back might be a step down, but SB always seemed to have a big run or two to make his yards per carry look better than they really were. One thing SB never seemed to do was get that yard or two when we really needed it. For a back that big he seemed to go down pretty easily.

I’d be happy with Lock. Daboll can work with him. DJ always made me nervous and now he is injury prone..his legs were his asset and I don’t think he’ll get them back after a torn ACL.

Not for nothing , but I can’t stand when random people breakdown film and say qbs missed throws . Do you know the play call ? Do you know the progressions ? Do you know the design of the play and why they called it? That play you said he missed Hyatt was a first down play and Hyatt was obviously used to clear out the safety and line backer to give space for the rb to make a play in space, and as usual a giants player drops the ball. . If you take any qb , including Mahomes you will see open recievers that he didn’t throw to , not because he missed them , but it wasn’t the design of the play . I’m not trying to pic on you but it’s ridiculous for people to breakdown a play not knowing the intent of the play

@@TankZappa well that’s true , we are both wrong , I’m just saying that’s what it looked like . The point is neither of us know . Daboll even scolded a reporter for saying Jones missed throws . He asked the reporter , Do you know the Progressions ? Said Jones did exactly what they wanted him to do

Daniel Jones is decent, he just isn't worth his contract.

The Giants have had a bottom of the NFL roster since 2019 and that includes Jones and by not drafting a QB in a QB rich draft the Giants will continue to be awful

it all started when Judge got hired as HC, and Gettlemen broke the bank handing out big contracts to everybody, wanting to 'win now'

Daniel Jones will get one more season unless he’s great. He won’t be, and they will be looking to the draft next year.

DJ is one of the worst quarterbacks in the league. I get his o-line isn’t good, but good quarterbacks can almost negate that. His apparent best season was 15 touchdowns to 6 interceptions. The team was being ran by Barkley that year and it’s not like the Giants were even that good with a 9-7-1 record. DJ is funny to watch though so I am excited to see him fail this year again

I hate to make excuses, but he’s had zero help at wide receiver and the worst oline I’ve EVER seen- by far. I’m sure he’s ruined at this point.

Why commit to Daniel Jones? He won a road playoff game. The last time the Giants won a road playoff game was 2012... Eli won a road playoff game with significantly more weapons than Daniel Jones had. Road playoff wins with no offensive line and one difference maker on offense in which the defense is going to take away is no big deal😂😂😂 It wasn't even 2 years ago also... Please try harder to sell me Daniel Jones sucks He also was the only quarterback in history of the NFL to pass for 300 yards throw 2 TD passes and rush for 70 yards on the road in his debut playoff game... Again with Saquon Barkley being taken away... Just over a year ago... Daniel Jones critics are stupid

Hilarious you guys wanna act like it really means something that it's been six years when at no time in those six years you have put a team around him. You should start there first. Some of you hypocrites were more patient with Kerry Collins. Team around Jones has never even been THAT good, and that wasn't good....
