I generally recommend renting and firing a pistol before you buy it. If that is not possible, I recommend putting hands on it to make sure your hands can reach the controls and that you like the trigger. Not all pistols have good aftermarket support to correct deficiencies in control reach or bad triggers. This is not an exception to those general recommendations. My Daniel H9 delivered what was advertised. I have other guns that I like better. You might check it out and make sure you like it before ordering one on GB.

Got mine day 1 and have been loving it! Put about 400 rounds through and I had the issue where sometimes it would cycle and not go fully into battery. I think its because the recoil spring is tuned softly to reduce perceived recoil and also because the grip is so high, the slide would rub up and cut up my hand. Once I shifted my grip to get my thumb lower it runs fine. Cant wait to get my holster and see if the battery issue will be persistent in drawing.

Great review for what appears to be a great DD pistol. The technicians at Daniel told me the gun is manufactured to tight tolerances, to lube it (there are 18 lubrication points), and run 100 rounds through it for the break-in. My H9 arrives in a few days. They are quite difficult to find. As soon as they hit a store, they are gone. BTW: the only non-reengineered component in this Daniel H9 is the sear spring lever...that's it. There is no compatibility of parts for Hudson H9 owners...sorry guys.

I can’t wait to get my hands on one of these. Probably my favorite gun to come out of Shot Show this year. The Walther PDP SF 4” might rival the H9 for how much I want one, but the new SF Walthers are $1700 for the standard non-competition versions. Which is just over the top. The H9 is the kind of innovation we need in the gun market. Well-earned new subscriber!

Thank you! It is certainly different. In a world of polymer frame striker fired pistols different can be good. I'm amazed at how what is old is becoming new again. We're back to the 1911 with a refresh to being a double-stack 9mm. There are new lever actions coming. There were some new revolver offerings I saw coming out of SHOT... I can say all that but Staccato still hasn't offered a reversible magazine release. I'm upset with Staccato for not complying with my demand for them to take my money and make me a reversible mag release for the CS!

I lubed it after the 2nd consecutive mag w/the same issue, but unfortunately it never went away. I'm told that could be an extractor tension issue, but again it was a rental gun, so who knows. I have a little over 800 downrange my h9. Flawless performance. Which was surprising because I did have the battery issues during dry firing with snap caps and cycling rounds from the mag. Also the slide not locking on empty. But when it came to live fire. None of those issues presented themselves. 700 fmj and 100 jhp’s give or take all a mixture of 115 and 124. Jhps were all 124. Only gripes are the cheap feeling mock grip safety beaver tail that bites the web of your hand and no rsmc plates for carry dots like my eps mrs. I’m sure someone will handle that down the road but that was a letdown. Otherwise DD did great bringing the Hudson concept back to life better and more reliable that the original.

I'm happy to hear your Daniel H9 worked well! The buyer's remorse when a new gun does not work well is terrible. I've found it is hard to regain confidence in a gun even after a trip to the factory. I did not mind the grip. My reservation is with the trigger. I think it is more like a mediocre striker fire than anything to do with a 1911. Full disclosure, I am a bit of a trigger snob.

@@HollyrockFarmI feel that completely. Pdp prolly has the best stock striker triggers I’ve handled. I’m a big 1911 guy myself. Got a really sweet custom Wilson cqb commander. Between that and my s2c’s sa, no striker could ever compare obv. And yeah thankfully I’ve only ever had that w a cheapy baby rock. But after a lot of work and some sweet 14rd para mags it seems to be sorted out. Thing would jam up every other jhp round everytime. But a 14+1 lil 45 albeit heavy is pretty nifty 🤷🏻‍♂️

@@damonspinelli1352 Those double stack 1911s in .45 were great when they ran. I used to have a Springfield Hi-Cap that would only eat ball rounds and not all that reliably. I ended up selling it. I wanted one or the Para-Ordinance 1445 LDA pistols but I was a young broke honest cop that couldn't afford one before they went out of production. I've not messed with the PDP. I may have to check them out.

@@HollyrockFarm yeah man I highly recommend. My mom got the pdp f and I was kinda poking fun at her. Then I tried it and the trigger is seriously amazing. Super crisp, nice reset. None of that normal spongy take up you feel on most striker triggers. I really want a SF Q4 later this year if I can swing it. Handled one and it was really well built.

Seems like a great gun to me. This version is compact & light enough to carry, but hang a light on it and maybe some brass grips, and it'll really just sit there and rip. And it'll be easy peasy for them to do an all steel match version. If you'd have done that 520 round burn down in an Alien, you may have needed an oven mitt.

How is the slide to frame fit on yours? I just received mine and there is a good bit of play between slide and frame. I can shake it and hear a pretty good rattle. Barrel lockup is tight though when in battery, so I expect that accuracy will be fine, but was very curious how the slide to frame fit on other copies of this gun are.

There are a lot of companies that end up with their personnel making politically convenient statements in times of turmoil only to end up making their customers upset. I would think it would be in their own best interest to generally remain silent and stick to serving their customers rather than loosing an opinion to appease an opposition force. They end up with the same opposition force still after them and some angry former customers.

Good 500+ round test. I think this is conducive to your sample of 1. It’s awesome that yours ran well; however, City Arsenal had a dead trigger on their 4th round and did not address it in their video. In addition, you mentioned other people having concerns in the break in period. Taking a non-reliable pistol, repackaging it with DD’s name on it and rereleasing it doesn’t sit well with me. Will it be better than the original, possibly but only honest reviews like this one is the only way to find out.

I'm 99.9% certain my issue with the failure for the slide to lock open on an empty magazine was my thumb placement. I'm lefthanded and slide stop levers were never a problem because I never had them on the right side of the gun. I'm not sure if he was having a thumb placement problem or some other issue.

That would certainly help cut down the need for delayed gratification. No one really wants to get a new gun and wait a few days to set it up. Then again, I don't like having to wait for the thread locker to set before I get to run the gun with a newly installed red dot.

So did not see you test for key hole issue which is pretty high on reports. This is a general stand in a spot yea it bangs review. Do some drills and push its limits. Also 1k rounds of 9mm is very doable for about $500 bucks. Any pistol I buy it goes minimum that number before cleaning. Yea if doing a channel might put a dent in. I would not be picking KZread as your only source of uploading to. Maybe in a few years more to offer may be seen, but this was pretty generic test. I stand and shoot maybe two mags to get a feel. After that I’m testing rapid shots, trigger technique potential, feel on the move, walking drills, and so on. Not to mention quite a few very well established channels putting a lot more behind the test and review. If you’re going to join the ring bring something to the table. I’m not getting paid to say cool vibes, just crash launch channel approach. Wish you luck as it’s a high bar on guntuber world these days.
