Phillee89 what came first drugs or house/techno, house/techno, white people in Britain turned it in to a drug/rave scene. Before it was a dance thing and a black thing. The music has so much heart and soul too it but a fiend like you wouldn't know that.

Jack Darwin I'm not American. Listen to Laurent garniers red bull music academy interview when he's asked about the punters in the hacienda. Before his mandatory service in the army in France he dj'd in front of an all black crowd who were their dancing and getting into circles and 'jacking' after he returned from his service he saw the crowd drastically change. A 90% all white crowd completely f'd on drugs in his own words. The boom in ecstasy had lead to this and Britain spread the message of raving in its most druggie ways spread across the globe. I'm not using this to create any racial tension. But in Britain we live in a society of excess. Be it money, sex, drugs cigarettes and alcohol. I get upset when people associate the techno scene with drugs like it was always a drug thing and the music is only for druggies. There is much heart to the music and I'd hate a comment like ketamine to give the wrong impression there was a time when people understood the music and techno was the source of empowerment to the black people of Detroit in a capitalised and alienated city

Nik Nak Firstly Nik thanks for the balanced and polite reply. I'm just fed up of this world where so much emphasis is put on race that I took your comment in a certain way (and assumed you were American). Techno is something I'm very passionate about also, drugged up or not (the latter more often these days) it's been my life for 15 years or so. I obviously can't empathise with the way that the older generation feels about these changes because I haven't experienced them, but I can understand it. Things change, we can't look back with resentment we can just look forward to it bringing more joy to peoples lives.
