It’s not a lack of value. It’s a matter of trying to survive from one day to the next. Sometimes it’s survival for that one day. Imagine a life so hardscrabble that you are willing to do whatever it takes just to manage a living that barely pays you enough for what we would waste on s Starbucks coffee. And since there’s nothing else to do daddy’s always humping mommy and whoops…there’s another mouth to feed. In some parts of India they are so poor that if a woman has a girl they will often times smother her or something else to take her minutes old life. Because girls cost to much. All these patriarchal societies are hell on women. So they kill them. If an old woman’s husband dies she is kicked out onto the streets-homeless. She has no skills to support herself because these misogynistic swine won’t let them get any education, so once she’s a widow she’s on the streets. No man to support her. “Another useless mouth to feed.” They are hypocrites in that they won’t let her get an education because she might leave the men! Yeah…ya think? But then she becomes a widow with no one to support her and the men who refused her education don’t want to take care of her either. So the man is risking his life because the family he despises still needs his support!
