‘Dancing Queen’ May says austerity is over - with a ‘good’ Brexit deal
Theresa May danced on to the stage at the Conservative Party conference to announce that the end of austerity is in sight.

The prime minister said that support for public services would go up next year, but she didn't explain where the money would come from and said it depended on a good Brexit deal.
She appealed for unity in her party, warning her critics that if they split over their "own visions of the perfect Brexit", they might not get it at all.
We talk to Brexit Secretary Dominic Raab and Brexiteer and former Tory leader Iain Duncan Smith.

What the entire UK doesn't seem to understand is, that before even (officially) starting negotiations about a future trade deal, the very seperation of the UK from the EU will have to be agreed on. Don't try to make the second step before the first, it won't work.
Say that again to the homeless, the children of poor British citizens who no longer get free school meals and starve, to the unemployed as they had to suffer with your cuts to essential funding in benefits for food and say it to those who lost their jobs in the public sector due to your Tory cuts. The debt must be paid in action not words, fully fund the NHS now, build more infrastructure, reduce and remove tuition fees, encourage actual contract jobs not zero hour contracts, reduce council tax on the working class and actually fully fund the councils, stop cutting public spending and stop cutting taxes on the rich the ones who can actually afford to be taxed. Maybe then you can say austerity is over until then you are nothing but a liar.

Flugschüler Fluglehrer Sadly you are quite right and I contrast your remarks with many of those Brexiteers who cannot wait to see the EU collapse. However there is a good reason for them wishing that. The one thing that Brexiteers fear more than anything is that in 5 years from now the EU will still be there and worst of all from their point of view, thriving. If that is the case people in the UK will be able to compare their own progress with that of the EU and in my view by that stage we will see the EU far ahead and the pound worth a lot less than the Euro.

Austerity over?! some one should have told the Chancellor who seems to contradict May.
This image of politics is like something from the 1800s. Top hats, monocles and walking sticks. It's so outdated it can barely be measured. This is why instead of making progress we are actually going back in time. There are no progressive parties who recognize and act upon the direction the world is changing, but it is. This seemingly fall of Empires is the inevitable result of politics fighting the inevitable. Sooner or later this system will fall in on itself.
Her chequers plan has been rejected. She's waiting for counterproposals but the EU doesn't have to give her any as Uk is the one leaving. In the end, UK will crash out with no deal and she will blame EU for not giving what she wanted (which is pick the bits of EU legislation that suits her). It’s already been said this conference represents a party devoid of ideas. Personally I think that’s unfair. Why fix something when it’s not broken? It’s taken years of dedicated and coordinated hard work for Tories to get the population of this country exactly where they want them - on zero hour contracts, living on the streets and reliant upon food banks, gross personal debt sustaining an economy for the richest, tolerating massive corporate remuneration, tolerating massive tax avoidance, in-work poverty, fear of old age destitution and loneliness, stratospheric with no protections, poor quality unaffordable housing, mental health ignored, under-funded state education, a NHS that needs people dying on trolleys in corridors before it’s given inadequate investment, student life-long debt, working young adults needing Help to Buy (inflate) to afford a f*cking house!, and toleration of a vile Tory owned press that has regular meetings in No10 to coordinate attacks on our democracy .....this, and much much more, is a Tory success story that needs celebrating not correcting with silly and pathetic Corbyn-like ideas. Pull up your ladder, vote Conservative.....For the Few, Not the Many.

🤦♂️ 1975 referendum was never actually a vote to join the EEC, but a failed attempt to leave. The Conversatives had already signed UK up in 1973. Instead of "leave/remain", it was "yes/no". Labour was also in power with 17 seats short of a majority. "If Britain were to go it alone, we would be free to buy what we want - but too poor to afford it; free to buy wherever we want, but powerless to get a good bargain; free to say what we like, but too weak for anyone to listen" Heath, May 1975. Hmmm🤔 Deja vu? "It would be traumatic to come out. ....it would be a leap in the dark. We should not know or have any idea, of the trading conditions to which we were coming out of or the effect on sterling."😳 Project fear? Only it wasn't probably called that at the time. "....for Britain to abrogate a treaty (EEC membership) is bad for Britain and bad for our relationship with the rest of the world, and bad for our future trading relationships." Thatcher, April 1975.😳 Project fear, again? "Why should we reverse the decision.... and wish to go? ... our troubles have not been due to our membership of the Community (EEC)" Howe, April 1975.🤔hmm... The quotes are taken from an old newspaper article from 1975 that I came across on the internet. static.guim.co.uk/sys-images/Guardian/Pix/pictures/2015/6/4/1433413944390/Thatcher-9-April-1975-001.jpg It is interesting to compare the issues during the EEC referendum in 1975 with Brexit now. I see some similarities in the rhetoric between then and now. Maybe both sides of the debate need to ask themselves what the REAL issues are instead of listening to political rhetoric?🤔
Does anyone on the face of the earth take Ian Duncan Smith seriously?
