Dancing on Water: The Chinese Art of Bamboo Drifting
Спорт
To balance on a single piece of bamboo on the water requires exceptional balance. So does ballet. Combine these two athletic arts and you have “ballet on the water,” an impressive variation on single bamboo drifting. Once a mode of transportation, single bamboo drifting originated in China’s Guizhou Province and requires a person to stand or sit on a single piece of Mao bamboo while performing graceful movements. It’s a performance you’ve got to see to believe.

I'm American but I want to try this and it probably doesn't exist here. And if it does then it's probably private and in the middle of nowhere or it's very expensive and on the other side of the country.

Joy Unindicated yep! In china we are a lot more open minded to these kin of things. It isn't cultural appropriation here. As long as you understand it and you don't just do it to mock them or try and claim it for yourself.

you-are-the-pelican-man lmao the libtards man... ik many chinese people (ethnicity wise) and none even find it offensive. How chinese see it, if things like ballet and piano(from Europe) can be done by chinese, why can’t it happen the other way around. Trust me, people will like it.
This would seriously be a cool Olympic sport, that and the Sky Dancing~

Everytime I see something as beautiful and demanding as this it is like a window opening to the fact that human kind has always been able to surpass its own limits for good reasons. What a reminder of what we can be...

from what i know the Mao people of China are one of the rarer tribes. While there was the "one child policy" back then, i heard the government still encourages the Mao people to have more than one child (if im not mistaken though).
These people took walking on water to the next level
Russia: invented ballet France: popularized ballet, invited complicated techniques China: put ballet on top of a bamboo floating on water No matter what you do there's always an Asian better than you.
@julieautheatre

Just a little heads up here: ballet wasn't invented in Russia, as a matter of fact, it goes back to the Italian Renaissance, then was popularized by France during the reign of Louis XIV (the guy loved dancing and being admired on the stage). Russia picked it up later, mainly because culturally, Russia really looked up to France (they even spoke French at the Russian court). This is why all the ballet vocab, the name of the steps and so on are in French, no matter where in the world you learn Ballet :)

It's Southwestern Mandarin like Sichaunese. It's not an entirely different Chinese variety like Cantonese or Shanghainese would be. It's still very different from Standard Chinese ("mandarin") though.
