I learned a lot from this reaction video. I never paid attention to the dancer in pink and now, that I have, I noticed her relaxed style of dancing. She was smiling the whole time.

If you were to watch more of this trio's dance performances, you'll begin to notice a pattern in their setups. Their looks differ each year and performance, so in reference here- Maria, the purple haired center - is like the "neutral". You can consider her style to be the flamboyant one. Miume, the yellow haired one - is the "masculine". Her clothing, while equally as stylistic, veers towards pants or the manly look. Her motions are also a little more subdued, but no less flashy. 217 (Niina), the brown haired one - is the "feminine". She dances more energetically, more so than Maria, and has a more feminine costume dress, with short skirts as a theme. If you find the respective blooper videos on the channel, you'll see how much work goes into each year's production.

Great reaction video. There are several live video versions on youtube of this song and another of theirs that has a great dance sequence, Tougen Renka. I like the way you break down the choreography into words that someone not familiar with choreography will understand. Gokurako Jodo is also one of the biggest songs for flashmob dancing out there. Several dance studios have made videos of their members doing it and there are several videos of teens doing it in Tokyo and other Japanese cities and they are very involved and seem to have a lot of separate moving parts. They even did one here in Brooklyn NY, at a major park in the borough, Prospect Park. You cannot help but get enthused by their routines.

I would really love to see you react to more Garnidelia! I think my favorite dance video is of the song Kyoukiranbu!

I think you would really get a kick out of Atarashii Gakko. A Japanese girl group that mixes jazz, funk, hip hop, and rock with chaotic dance choreography they create themselves. Check out their video Night Before the Exam (single take). I think you would enjoy breaking down their dance.

Seconded! I recommended Night Before The Exam - Single Take Performance before. It is absolutely insane because their is no production crew in the room with them, just a remote controlled camera drone so they can shoot a full 360 of them in the room.

I have notices that most japanese dancers of this kind dance to the rythm pf the lyrics rather than following the beat of the song

They do a variety of dance styles and choreography. The choreography and work with the arms and hands is very much influenced by Chinese traditional dancing that was imported into Japan several hundred years ago. Much of the footwork comes from a style of EDM novelty dancing common on Japanese internet posts over the last 15 years or so. Maria the sings/dances live. (The videos are all lip-synced.) The other two are professional dancers and do not sing. Maria is a particularly good singer. The singing style is a mix of Japanese R&B, EDM, with some City Pop influence. and occasional Jazz influences. The Japanese like to mix genres. Maria is also one of the better cover singers around. This video is more technical. Look up【みうめ・メイリア・217】PASSION【踊っちゃってみた第9弾】on the official Garnidelia channel. An unofficial live post: GARNiDELiA-Hysteric Bullet (LIVE) is on the AkeMio channel. (Much better than the Official MV in my opinion.) For a live R&B style ballad (no dancing) try GARNiDELiA-SPiCa (LIVE) 480P also on AkeMio channel. A 60s R&B throwback style song with dancing. Try GARNiDELiA-NEON NIGHT(LIVE) 480P also on AkeMio channel. (FYI: Nobody was doing Nancy Sinatra style stuff in Japan back in the day. It's Cosplay throwback) Note: She sings the primary vocals live. Backing vocals are prerecorded clicktracks- also Maria's vocals. They use a combination of live band and prerecorded extra instruments.

This is a new one to me. Seems lime their upper bodies are doing a mix of Pop Idol and traditional dancing while their lower bodies are doing a 2-Step! Lol! They look like they are having fun, which is all that matters. 😁
