Dance Tutorial (intermediate skill) - Fish Roll

Hi dancers! In this tutorial, we are going to go over how to do a fish roll, which is an intermediate level skill. I will go over the steps and technique from start to finish and demonstrate it for you.

    In this video you say to turn your neck to the left; but it’s really that your head is going to the right. Helpful video but that part could be really confusing for some. Took me a few tries of watching this to realize that’s why my dancers were confused.

    Not a fish roll, no offense, but a fish roll has an arc to it with a body roll as you come through the roll. Both feet end up coming to the floor together not one ending first. If you were to take a picture have way your feet would be towards your head. This is a split back shoulder roll. This is why students are continuously confused in class when they have teachers with acro training teaching them...

    Thank you for your opinion. But a fish roll ends with 1 leg still in the air. Maybe you are thinking of a “C” roll where your body makes a C shape and you roll through your whole body.

    I'm not in any way trying to be rude but when teachers start teaching acro tricks and not using proper names it makes it frustrating. We have students who are continously confused and this is why. Look up just for kix (who has been in the damce industry before I was even teaching and dancing when I was young), the amazing Vincent Vis, Kylie Thompson, just to name a few...
