Got tons of respect for the Japanese. Haven't seen many lockers nowadays, it's like a completely underground culture but Japan keeps it real and oldschool. You have all of my respect! Keep on locking!!!

you will never see black folks doing a Japanese dance - new or old - we don't steal other peoples culture - we create our own
@Mr-Tibbster
3 жыл бұрын
It's not stealing. The original Lockers shared this dance with the world and wanted people of all backgrounds to learn it. Besides, the statement of "black people don't steal other's culture and don't do Japanese dance" is 100% wrong. Many black people (and other colours) DO practice and even teach Japanese things. A prime example are tradtional martial arts, such as Karate, Kendo and so on. There are some black Americans who are "masters" and own Karate schools, Kung Fu schools, and so on. By your logic, that shouldn't be allowed because they are not Asian. There are also black classical musicans and writers, both in the past during the baroque era, and in the modern day. There are black ballroom dancers too, of which classical music and ballroom dancing both has white Euopean origins. Of course, I would not call it "stealing", just as I wouldn't call this video "stealing" . It's not appropriation, it's appreciation. Literally every single colour on the planet take part in activities and traditions which have originated in other lands and cultures. There is no crime in that, it's racist to say otherwise. The only time something is stealing, is when someone claims to be the inventor, and they are not (this happened a lot in America's history, where white aritsts stole black songs for example, and claimed to be the original writers). But this is not that. If we all lived in the mentalilty that only people of a certain colour were allowed to take part in activities that were invented by their own colour, then we'd not have any modern black music or dances at all such as Funk and Locking, because they used white instruments (bass, guitar, piano, etc) to make their music. You might not be aware, but the black dancers of early America also borrowed Irish and British dance steps when they came up with Tap dance, Buck dancing and Jazz dance, back before the 1900s which lead the way to modern street dance over the years. It's not a "pure 100% black" creation at all. History is not as "black and white" (literally and figuratively) as you think, there are no need for divisions. Coming together has lead to all the great things we all enjoy today.

@@bigdaddyozone8574 Lol what? Where did these people ever claim to be the inventors? Every Locker I've known, no matter their colour give credit to Don Campbell (R.I.P) and the Lockers. You're being racist by tarring everyone with the same brush. Yes there are racists and approriators out there, but that doesn't apply here. You culture was not stolen, it was honoured and raised up.
