Hi, I’m Elena the co-founder of MyCharleston and here are just some of my favourite 1920s steps that I love to dance:
Swivel & Flicks - These are the foundations of Charleston dancing where you swivel your feet on every count. Add them to your repertoire to make your moves look more flashy and dynamic.
Snake Hips - This is a fun one that involves wrapping the leg around the back and front of the body which creates quick changes of direction of the legs whilst the upper half stays relaxed
Fall off the log - Usually a solo jazz step this variation includes swivels in-between the steps to give it a more authentic 20s feel.
The Charleston - The iconic step which the whole genre is based on and a ‘go-to’ move for any classic vintage routine.
