That’s because the production was rushed when tilian joined the band. They wanted to get him in and get him out ASAP so they could tour the album. It happens, the OG album was still amazing as fuck and in my opinion the Peak of their writing abilities. Josh Benton really compliments Will swans abstract playing style and it shines heavily on this record.
This song was already perfect and they somehow made it more fucking epic.

I think this band will forever be my favorite. Every time I go on a listening spree I find something new to love in each song. I've been listening religiously since 2013.

Somehow the drums in this version is sooo much better!
Songs like this can power the slow bridges and verses that they have Tilian do so well.. this The Jiggler, the Rattler for example always hit home. Then Jon amplifies it all

Jake Fuji i saw them open for devil wears prada and drop dead gorgeous when i was 13 crazy how 14 years later dgd is still going strong
Never could really distinguish the start of the song being a choir sounding off alongside the instruments. This mix also has a lot more of Tilian's vocal texture too.
the thing that i always appreciate about this song is the "jazzfusion" the feels in the vocals, guitars and drums
I almost teared up at 4:23, it sounds so, so, so good
