Whoever said that evaporate was the worst song on the album is tripping, its easily one of their best songs period, granted its very fan servicey with the outro but thats what so great about it, its rare to find a song that has a medley of all the past iconic songs in it

Bro, that dude..who is a comment 1 above you currently. Said it was there worst ablum ever as well. I get not liking an ablum at all, but declaring it their asboultly worst is just false.

They have a lot of different genres in one band. “Shark Dad” is heavy, “Summertime Gladness” is funky, “Into the Sunset” is chill, and a lot if their songs are just upbeat and fun

Yep. I remember the first time I heard them with JC, I was like "eh, good but idk." Then slowly but surely they just became undeniable. Now it's just like "alright, how are they going to blow my mind this album?"

I feel like you should give Secret Band a try. They're super chaotic and experimental in all the right places. Same unclean vocalist, lead guitarist and drummer as Dance Gavin Dance. Just....heavier lol I'd suggest the songs Moon or Projectile Comet first

Great reaction! Really cohesive thoughts expression. You can do either Say Hi or Philosopher King if you want more of heavy DGD. The first one is probably the hardest track they've released with Tilian and Philosopher King is from the same album as Man Of The Year. Wanna hear more reactions from you!

Great video! Evaporation is a favorite for most fans because they do a mash up at the end from songs they've done spanding over a decade. Man of the year is one of my favorites for sure!

hey, u should look into the other two past singers one of there well known songs and a hidden gem from them, for kurt i recommend carl barker, then NASA or powder to the people (happiness album) and for johnny craig, so i told them i invented times new roman or elder goose and the lesser known one would be purple reign (downtown battle mountain 2 i believe)

Nice glad you enjoyed Man of the Year! If you dig the heavy, more chaotic stuff i have some DGD recommendations. Their entire debut album Downtown Battle Mountain lol but specifically Lemon Meringue Tie, The Backwards Pumpkin Song, Antlion, Surprise Im from Cuba, Everyone Else Has One Brain all have those features. Also recommend- Alex English, Thug City, Need Money, Heat Seeking Ghost of Sex, Carve, Demo Team, Shark Dad, Philosopher King, Petting Zoo Justice, The Rattler, and Say Hi, they are all pretty heavy and chaotic

I definitely disagree. Coming from someone that has been through all of their discography, and listen to plenty of bands within the genre, I’m surprised to see you calling most of those songs “heavy”. No hate, I just think they have only a select handful that you could truly call “heavy”. Such as “Say Hi”, “Petting Zoo Justice”, “Shark Dad”, “Bloodsucker”, “The Rattler”, “Philosopher King” and a couple others. There are plenty more that have very heavy aspects to them, like “Here Comes the Winner” or even “Awkward”. But if this guy is into heavy stuff, I’m not sure if he’s gonna like all those songs you recommended, but I think he could give a couple a try. Great songs nonetheless

Thanks for the feedback, i realize now I didn’t get my points across very well. I listen to DGD pretty much exclusively so when I say a song is heavy or chaotic/not repetitive it’s more in reference to the DGD discography and not other bands in similar or heavier genres lol. I would say these are the heavier DGD or “Secret Band type” songs- Carve, Shark Dad, Petting Zoo Justice, The Rattler, Say Hi. And these songs I would say have a more chaotic/less repetitive structure to them and louder/better mix for drums and bass (those were complaints from his reaction to Evaporate)- Lemon Meringue Tie, Backward Pumpkin Song, Surprise I’m from Cuba, Everyone Else Has One Brain, Alex English, Thug City, Need Money, Heat Seeking Ghost of Sex, Demo Team, Philosopher King. There’s definitely more to DGD than just being heavy and chaotic, I tried to recommend songs that I thought had those elements. As opposed to the funkiness of Happiness album and some other fan fave DGD songs. Anyways hope that clears up any confusion about my recommendations haha. And if you want heavier than DGD, Secret Band - Projectile Comet is insane.

I like a blend of good cleans and good harsh vocals... Some DGD songs have it, some dont, because of line up changes and what not.
