Dance Gavin Dance - Blue Dream

Oh, let's start it over
As I go back and forth
Through the causes of my mistakes
Well you said it over and over
"Don't come back, don't come around my kid!"
Well I'm already in, and we all...
Give it, give it, give it all, slow it down.
Give it, give it, give it all, slow it down.
Give it, give it, give it all, slow it down.
Give it, give it, give it all, slow it down.
(You'll go far on the back of a potato,)
(Making French fries in the snow,)
(Then you'll steal, then you'll borrow,)
(You'll be red, you'll be gold,)
(Then you'll steal) [x3]
(Then you're right, somebody getting farther than getting to the better of the betting, alright?)
Smoothin' out the street.
Move your fate.
Let it out, let it out, let it out.
Place the blame on my head
let it out, let it out, give it all...
Give it, give it, give it all falling down,
Give it, give it, give it all falling down.
(You'll go far on the back of a potato,)
(Making French fries in the snow,)
(Then you'll steal, then you'll borrow,)
(You'll be red, you'll be gold,)
(Then you'll steal) [x3]
(Then you're right, somebody getting farther than getting to the better of the betting, alright?)
Stop, let it go, oh wonder.
Do, do, do, do, don't move
Baby stay put.
I don't know what I'd do,
If I ever lost you.
(Hey man, I'm bumping bleedo,)
(Blee blee doe.)
-Hello?
-Hello...what color are your fucking eyes?
-Mine?
-Yeah.
-Blue.
-They're blue for sure, right?
-Yeah.
-Alright, bye!
-Alright let's go.

This was essentially the song that drew me into DGD, I'll never forget it. There are very few songs that I instantly fall in love with, and this was one of them, but I didn't yet know the entire new realm I was stepping into. At the time of discovering this band, I was feeling so much pain in my life from low self esteem, anxiety, and such, but this band's sound helped me get through it. DGD has such a whimsical melody of funk, groove, and soul that puts them in so many genres other than just post hardcore. The band's weird lyrics and fast paced sound gave me a musical "high" that would get me through downy days, and I indebted to them; they helped me keep my sanity intact, and helped me not care about the pains of life as much. Dance Gavin Dance is my favorite band, and I love every one of their songs. I know there is a stigma of post-hardcore with some people, but DGD transcends labels. Whenever I am sad and down I just turn on this song; bathing in nostalgia I can shout, "MAKING FRENCH FRIES IN THE SNOW" and be all better. Thanks guys!

I personally see it more prog-rock than anything mentioned. Prog rock transitions through many sounds without sounding awkward. I don't know many bands that could pull off that transition and sound completely flawless

You assume most lyrics have a single dimension because that's as far as your tiny noggin can comprehend. Even the most popular pop music has theme and rhythm. If you think these singers of counterculture dont draw inspiration from other music you silly af.
This song is an emotional rollercoaster. Starts out chill and slowly gets heavier , then out of nowhere it gets funky af

I don't typically listen to dgd but this song is one of my favorites. the leads vocals towards the last half is amazing.
My first dgd song. I'll never forget this.
I found DGD in 2016 when KZread recommended me 'Inspire the Liars' and thought it couldn't get better than that song. Little did I know at the time, they've never not just drop bangers no matter who is the lead vocalist. With Tillian now gone I'm confident it will continue to be the case. Goddamn this song is so good
I freaking L-O-V-E this song! DGD is one of my favorite bands.
This song is so damn soulful to me! I fucking love it! Just can't get enough!
Is anyone else utterly confuzzled by these lyrics but still completely and utterly in love with this song??
Still one of my all time favorites by these guys, they never get old! One of the few bands that can not only survive multiple member changes but actually capitalize on it.
THIS is the best song of DGD. Its Got great vocals.. its got great screaming.. deep message.... its got a slow/fast tempo.. and the best transition in flow..
It's like RnB screamo. It's different.
You can hear the instrumentals now, so there goes that crowd of haters forever. It was well worth the near 4 year wait DGD. You guys created a masterpiece; I commend you all.
This song was just at the right moment of my life. Life was moving so fast, falling apart but so knew and yet held together by my strength all at the same time. This song was the glue at that moment that helped me.

I remember first listening to this song like my senior year of high school? Lol years later, and my friends were all singing along to it because they grew up and loved it. I was nodding, and just vibing, and as the song just kept going I kept finding an additional aspect to the song that was so awesome. The main singer sounds so damn great and different than what I'm used to hearing. That guy just mentioned a potato? Then there's a funky part? Ends with the guy calling his girl asking for her eye color? I thought this song was just so damn great, and it's one of my personal moments in my life that I'll never forget. Loved the song, and what the group accomplished early on and even their material later on. Honestly kind of underrated but still what an amazing experience I had 9 years ago
