Sunrise
wake up stand up look into
Red eyes
Stayed up all night thinking of
Reasons why
I can't feel your skin
Is this plaguing your brain?
Is this plaguing your brain?
Couldn't brace yourself in the morphine hallway
lying on the ground with a heart as a ball and chain
message to the bird I know your wings will be fine
spread them on the floor, learning to heal will take time
Close the hatch and lock us inside (Now breath in wide I'll forgive you later)
Close the hatch and lock us inside (Come on it's time just stand aside)
All these reasons why
I am reaching wide
I am sticking to all these one liners
and all this means
and all I have to say
Stay till my word
Because I can send you to the side
Cut off these ties
till this is why
we were holding to one night
breathe in without love
hear me form these lines
falling in love
I have been reading lies.
Watch this turn to dust
I won't know when you've fallen
Now it all takes shape
I won't go until you follow
Couldn't brace yourself in the morphine hallway
lying on the ground with a heart as a ball and chain
message to the bird I know your wings will be fine
spread them on the floor, learning to heal will take time
I don't even get the movie
cold ice feels so soothing
I don't even get the movie
cold ice feels so soothing
Watch this turn to dust
I won't know when you've fallen
Now it all takes shape
I won't go until you follow
I don't feel anything, stuck in the passing lane
I don't feel anything, stuck in the passing lane
Break, wait, stop, back off the bitch
Break, wait, stop, back off the bitch
Break, wait, stop, back off the bitch
Break, wait, stop, back off the bitch
Block out the sound of the police beckoning
duck in the back and the lights will shut off again
You can go for it just don't ignore it
ration the wine, laughing in revelry
You can go for it just don't ignore it
caution I'm drugged, we'll here comes the symphony
the rapist gives God a hug.

***** That's a difficult thing to claim if you listen to their song structure from their first two very influential albums. I can point to at least 3 songs in WISIRO where the music meter is slowed to give it a more bluesy sound that allows lyrics to be sung instead of belted or screamed like the genre was used to. You can find this in "It's safe to say..." and this song as well. From what I remember Will saying in an interview, he would compose the song and Jonny would write melodies into them. So the band made it possible to get the R&B sound out of Jonny's singing style. Since Jonny left, the band stopped writing like this. This is also evident in Jonny's change in singing styles. I always think the last time he really wrote an inspiring bit was in "She makes dirty words sound pretty"

***** _"they pretty much HAD to write how they did for it to sound good."_ Er, no.. All the vocals are written after instrumentals, so the songs weren't structured entirely for Jonny's style. Jonny just applied his style to the instrumentals. DGD is just always changing their sound, it had nothing to do with Jonny.

I feel like I found this band for a reason. It's really been helping me destress so far. I'm not really into post hard core but this band is pretty bad ass. 10 out of 10 would recommend to a friend.

Going through some shit after I just opened up to the girl/best friend i've had feelings for for over a year, and these lyrics are so fucking relatable. I guess it's true that you start to understand songs when you're feeling down. But the title is sticking with me a lot. I've got to open my eyes, stop dreaming, and look forward to what else is in store for me. She's not the last person i'm going to want to be with and I can't act like she is. Sorry for the sappiness, but i'm really high and i'm so glad I got to hear this song again.

What's great about Dance Gavin Dance is the fact that they can put everything together. If matt had some pots and pans, will had a cardboard guitar with ghetto ass nylon strings, and Jon and jonny got sick, they'd STILL find a way to put everything together into something that sounded beautiful. That is their gift. That's why they can make the music they do.

Sunrise Wake up stand up look into Red eyes Stayed up all night thinking of Reasons why I can't feel your skin Is this plaguing your brain? Is this plaguing your brain? Couldn't brace yourself in the morphine hallway Lying on the ground with a heart as a ball and chain Message to the bird I know your wings will be fine Spread them on the floor, learning to heal will take time Close the hatch and lock us inside (Now breath in wide I'll forgive you later) Close the hatch and lock us inside (Come on it's time just stand aside) All these reasons why I am reaching wide I am sticking to all these one liners And all this means And all I have to say Stay till my word Because I can send you to the side Cut off these ties Till this is why We were holding to one night Breathe in without love Hear me form these lines Falling in love I have been reading lies. Watch this turn to dust I won't know when you've fallen Now it all takes shape I won't go until you follow Couldn't brace yourself in the morphine hallway Lying on the ground with a heart as a ball and chain Message to the bird I know your wings will be fine Spread them on the floor, learning to heal will take time I don't even get the movie Cold ice feels so soothing I don't even get the movie Cold ice feels so soothing Watch this turn to dust I won't know when you've fallen Now it all takes shape I won't go until you follow I don't feel anything, stuck in the passing lane I don't feel anything, stuck in the passing lane Break, wait, stop, back off the bitch Break, wait, stop, back off the bitch Break, wait, stop, back off the bitch Break, wait, stop, back off the bitch Block out the sound of the police beckoning Duck in the back and the lights will shut off again You can go for it just don't ignore it Ration the wine, laughing in revelry You can go for it just don't ignore it Caution I'm drugged, we'll here comes the symphony The rapist gives God a hug.
