Dan recorded this 6 days after his father passed away from cancer. His dad loved Elvis and this was his dad's favorite Elvis song. Imagine how Dan felt as he sang the words "So hush little baby don't you cry. You know your daddy's bound to die."

Your comment is exactly pure truth! This is absolutely true pure raw emotion that we are experiencing in Dan’s deepest saddest moments of that devastating loss of his Daddy in 2017 approximately Oct 2-4th…which is just before Dans birthday on 10/13 when he was turning 28 and he says that one of the hardest things has been that his Dad didn’t get to see his accomplishments and hard work/success! 😔

I really don’t know how he was able to perform this one just after the passing of his beloved dad. His father was his first and strongest supporter since Dan was a kid. At the end it reads “Sleep with God Dad” “See you soon”.

My heart just breaks for Dan every time I see this. Singing it so soon after his father died, and in tribute to him. There is no pain like that a son feels when his father dies... I know from experience. I'm 62, my father died 7 years ago, and I still cry for him... let alone sing a masterpiece from his favorite artist. We don't deserve Dan. He is too good and pure for us. Hail Vasc Nation 💪❤️✝️

He did this "For my beloved father Roberto" (that's what is written at the beginning) - you see him at the end with little Dan. You clearly hear and see the emotion in it. Thanks - and blessings to you. Take care 🕊️

Every time I listen to Dan sing this as a tribute to his Dad, I cry with Dan for the loss of my Daddy. Dan sings this with so much emotion. I don’t know how he finishes the song when he is crying. He is such an awesome man and an extremely talented singer. He is DANTASTIC. I’m a huge fan.

Dan's Dad was a Musician who Loved Elvis. His Mother was an Opera Singer. His Dad was his best friend. He went into a 2 year Depression after his Dad died of cancer. He sang this in tribute to his Dad right after he passed. He has a hard time keeping it together.Amazing Grace meant so much to him coming out of his Depression. The harmonica he plays in Amazing Grace was a gift from his,Dad when he was 7 years old & is very special to him. Dan advocates for people with Depression now.

Brilliant comments, brother!!!! I SO AGREE WITH YOU!!!!!!! This video shows another beautiful aspect of Dan’s heart…his desire to show honor and love to his daddy speaks volumes. Dan shows the transparency of his heart here, which shows great strength. So many people avoid or hide their true feelings…Dan brings his raw, authentic feelings all the time, and he always brings that into the music! This tribute is exquisite. I know that Dan’s Beloved Father was watching this up in heaven and was overjoyed and SO PROUD of Dan, and he will continue to be cheering his son on as Dan soars to even greater heights. 🕊 Thank you, once again for an outstanding video! Love and blessings to you, brother….you are amazing and doing an awesome job! 👏🏼😁

I couldn't watch this again until tonight. Dan has tears in his eyes by the end of this and it brought me to tears the first -- and only, until tonight -- time I watched it. I knew that Elvis was his dad's favorite singer. I knew that his dad had just passed away. And I knew he sang this for his father. That was enough right there, but knowing how much he *feels* the songs he sings made me very reticent to watch it. I did so tonight because I knew you were the one reviewing it. Thank you.

I agree with you my friend the struggle and that lump in his throat he released a few tears then managed somehow from the faith of God to blast out that last chorus! No one else would have been able to carry on! Or re record when less emotional. But like you said he shows his emotion and you see you go through it with him it certainly opens your heart and that is the difference between Dan and other artists he wants you to see him grieve because it’s normal we were all there with him praying he could get through that last chorus! He doesn’t cut that bit out (like most artists do who only want you to see them at their very best all sparkly and good) NO Dan wants you see him as a real person with feelings!!!!! That’s the difference and I much prefer A Real Person who’s not afraid to show emotion and how to get over that emotion and carry on!!! Great reaction ❤❤❤❤❤🙏🏻💫💫💫💫💫

Some of the comments below are a tad snarky, and I have been guilty of that myself from time to time. Yes, it was for his father, but his artistic choice was to pour his heart into this song, and the why is not all that relevant, these years later, and that outpouring is what most of us respond to. His version of Love Me Tender was NOT dedicated to his father, and yet it was dedicated, and it was at least as emotionally powerful, even though he had not met the couple he sang it to.

And I must say, that you are among a short list of those that totally get Dan the man, and Dan the singer/performer. I really appreciate your reactions to Dan, and you have easily earned a new subscriber in me. I just checked your channel and saw that you have not reacted to a particular song that Dan dedicated to an elderly couple. The wife reached out to Dan, and he responded. It is another Elvis song.
