I think this is the way it should have always been sung. Not melancholy and morose like most artists do it, but uplifting, transforming, and making you want to shout the glory of God.

Yes! I am a sucker, even a stickler for the old hymns, sung the old way. It's how I worship. Except for this song, which is my favorite hymn. This right here is now my favorite version of my favorite hymn!

I have seen numerous folks like yourself get out of their chair and walk off. In my opinion, there should be nothing. God has the power and he will use it in mysterious ways and this is one of them. Thanks for your reaction, my jaw hit the floor like yours did in every one of the 100 or so times I've listened to this. I'm considering a civil suit against Dan. I am sick and tired of the goosebumps from toes to ears, the shirts stained with tears, and the time lost in complete and utter disbelief at what I just experienced after EVERY SONG HE DOES!!! It's exhausting!! I know I am not alone...

Disturbed basically owns Sound of Silence for many years to come, but hey, we're all allowed our own opinions.

Disturbed's version is very good, but, I prefer Dan's beautiful voice over that one. It's just personal preference in voices for me.

I discovered Disturbed in like 2010 when I first heard the song Indestructible. I wasn't even a heavy metal fan back then, but I liked the quality of David Draiman's voice, and being very ill at the time I adopted Indestructible as my anthem. The first time I heard Disturbed's rendition of The Sound of Silence I was walking my dog listening to the Immortalized album (2015) for the first time. I didn't read any reviews or look at the song titles, so I was completely caught off guard and blown away when I heard The Sound Of Silence. I knew Draiman had a unique voice, but I wasn't prepared for just how truly superior and mature his voice could sound. Draiman voice started pure and hauntingly, then he masterfully built up the level of drama using his signature rasp/growl, and then a poetically gorgeous finish. Standing there on the sidewalk, with my dog sitting on my feet, I must have looked like a goof, because I listened to the song at least three more times in a row, and I'm not a person who is easily impressed or emotionally moved.

Oh wow, this is such an amazing rendition; I was hesitant to watch as I haven't listened to the song for personal reasons, but I thought it would _have_ to be so different from Elvis's version it would be safe to listen to, emotionally; and I'm glad I did listen to it. This song was my first introduction to Dan and I was just oddly curious how a metal singer thought he could sing this hymn with the reverence it deserves. Not only did he leave me with my mouth wide open in astonishment, he convinced me that Metal Music is a valid style of music. Always thought it was just bothersome noise and screamingI I have since watched many of his other covers and haven't found a bad one yet. He is a one-in-a-million talent.
