This Disney On Broadway Concert Series performance features 2 stars from different Disney broadway musicals. This Disney on Broadway Concert features Ashley Brown and L. Steven Taylor. Ashley Brown plays the role of Mary Poppins in the Disney broadway musical Mary Poppins. L. Steven Taylor, on the other hand, plays the role of Mufasa in the Disney broadway musical of The Lion King. Ashley Brown is basically the original Mary Poppins in the musical. Whereas L. Steven Taylor is like broadway royalty and has basically been on The Lion King broadway show for 9 years.
Ashley Brown & L. Steven Taylor perform the Disney on Broadway Concert series in the EPCOT Festival of the Arts on the following dates January 26th, 28th, 29th, February 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 6th.
Ashley Brown and L. Steven Taylor began their performance with Ashley Brown entering the stage first and started singing the song everyone loves from Mary Poppins which was Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. And then at some point L. Steven Taylor appeared on the stage to join Ashley Brown in singing the rest of the Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious song. Also L. Steven Taylor attempts to spell Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious while Ashley Brown was doing the classic choreography dance routine. And plus Ashley even attempts to spell it out while singing it.
Before they carried on with the rest of their performance, Ashley Brown and L. Steven Taylor basically introduces us to their band they have on stage with them.
They got Jeremy on drums
They got Nick on base
They got Steve on guitar
They got John on keyboard
And last but certainly not least, they got their amazing musical conductor and arranger Mr Jim Abbott.
Then Ashley Brown sings the song Feed the Birds from the broadway musical Mary Poppins. Plus this is the first time she's ever sang that song to us for the Festival of the Arts. The song "Feed the Birds" is not only her favorite song but it was also Walt Disney’s favorite song as well. Walt Disney himself would have the Sherman Brothers, it was a true story that Richard Sherman told Ashley while they were putting the show together in New York. Every Friday at 5 o'clock, Walt Disney would have Richard Sherman and his brother Robert come to his office and play the song and it's how he pretty much ended his week every week. Mary Poppins learns so many lessons. Ashley Brown feels that the song "Feed the Birds" resonates with her the most because it's about finding the joy and acts of kindness that even the smallest gesture can have a profound impact.
Next, L Steven Taylor performs the song “He Lives In You” from the Disney broadway musical of The Lion King. The song is deeply linked to family in him. L. Steven Taylor was raised by his grandma in Indiana and he was closer to singing this song when he learned his grandma passed away sadly. The song serves as a celebration and a reminder of her and his ongoing relationship with her every time L Steven Taylor sings it.
Additionally, both L. Steven Taylor and Ashley Brown sing an awesome medley of songs from The Lion King. So basically you’ll hear them singing songs such as “I Just Can’t Wait To Be King” , “Can You Feel the Love Tonight?” and “The Circle of Life”.
Then they perform 2 songs from the same Disney broadway musical The Hunchback of Notre Dame. So L. Steven Taylor sings the song Heavens Light and Ashley Brown performs the song Someday. These 2 songs from The Hunchback of Notre Dame are basically about how we see ourselves in the world and also about how we can help others to feel accepted and to fit in.
Then Ashley Brown and L. Steven Taylor conclude and end their performance with song the called “Come Alive” from The Greatest Showman. The song Come Alive is about never feeling shy to be exactly who you are.
Thanks for watching the fourth Disney on Broadway Concert series performance during this year's International Festival of the Arts in Epcot.
