This has such a different meaning now. It was incredible how he was able to tell 7 million people he is recovering from clinical depression. He is so lucky to have such amazing friends who supported him through this, and I hope others do too. As someone with depression, that is incredible for him.

Yeah this is so much more powerful now, I saw this before he posted the video and it made me feel proud for him Now I feel even prouder as he was able to talk about it with 7 million people. Also, he said he is no longer taking medication for his depression anymore and he feels more stable (I hope this is still true 2 months on) Aside from the depression, he genuinely seems more confident and open with himself, compared to the last few years (especially 2012) and I’m so proud of him for coming so far, obviously he may still have further to go, but he’s getting there 💙

Phil Lester, the one who became his best friend, and helped him through thick and thin. And even though it may not be romantic, but these two love each other and show the true meaning of friendship. Phil was the one who encouraged Dan (and all of us) to *Try New Things* Many Phandom members started off by watching Phil. PINOF was on Phil’s channel. Phil was Dans best friend. Phil really did make Dans life happier by helping him and encouraging him to go out and chase his dreams.

God, I love these two dorks. Theyve helped me through so much. Depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts... I love them. I really do. When I tell people that they think in weird to love people I don't even know but... Theyve done so much for me and I know I'll never get to meet them. I just want to meet them once. Just once. To tell them how much they mean to me. To tell them how much I love them and how much I will always love them. Just thinking about them dying makes me cry. They're the best people I know. If everyone was more like Dan and Phil... The world would be a much better place. I love them. So, so much... I hope I get to meet them someday. I hope.

Dan's smile is literally my favorite thing like it got to the smile compilation and I was just yelling at myself " *STOP CRYING GODDAMNIT CRAFT* "

Okay its time for a 1am ramble. I've watched this video hundreds of times, I always go back to it when everything goes wrong in my life. My mum has anger issues and gets violent with my brother a lot and I'm scared to leave my room sometimes. I never see my dad because he's always travelling. I was diagnosed with depression when I was 12, anxiety when I was 13 and in January of this year I was diagnosed with PTSD and SEME. I struggle with self harm and I'm two weeks clean which doesn't seem much to you but its so much to me, I've been on suicide watch twice. In my videos I act all out going and happy but I wish that was ethereal me. Watching this video made me realise how much Dan (and Phil) has influenced my life. I found KZread when I was 9 (ik I shouldn't have been on the internet) and Dan was the first youtuber watched. My sister said she could tell that I wasn't "just sad" before my diagnosis with my disorders but she didn't want to self-diagnose me. She told me a few days ago, that when I watched Dan she could tell that I was changing. Dan has changed my life. He's the reason I smile, I laugh and sometimes cry. I've never met dan or phil but one day I really want to just hug them and tell them how they've made me better. I'm so much happier because of them and I can't thank them enough for what they've done for me. It does get better I promise. Thank you for making this.

Every so often this video comes up on my homepage to make me smile, cry, and remember why these two random KZreadrs mean so much to me. Been watching them since I was 12, and I’m turning 21 this year, and I can only hope that Dan and Phil recognise just how many lives they’ve changed just by existing as their amazing, authentic selves. as soon as he started smiling I literally burst into tears, I’m so happy that he’s happy and can finally be himself ☺️❤️

Please don't cry but I'm starting to realize. Dan is not what he used to be. He would be dead. Dead if phil was never in his life. He actually said he was suicidel before he met phil but now he is not. Everyday we should thank dan and phil. And I don't think I should name any reasons because they speak for themselves. Thank you so much to the person who made this. And I just want to say that dan and phil are both happier because of each other, and because of the friendship, phil could have been dead by now two if dan never met him but dan and phils smile makes me smile. I'm so happy I'm able to see these beautiful people called dan and phil and I'm also so happy I'm able to see things like this. The edit is amazing. I hope dan and phil never stop being themselves because now they are who they are. They are happy. They are amazing. They are dan and phil. This has made me cry. I think since meeting Phil Dan has genuinely become a lot more comfortable and happier with himself and I'm super happy for him. I relate to Dan so much. All through primary school until now I hated myself. I saw my self as fat, ugly, I hated my smile, my voice, my laugh, my eyes and pretty much everything else about me. I was alone, I didn't have friends and I got depressed. Then I finally had the courage to make friends and I'm a lot happier now. I'm never going to be truly happy with myself. I hate certain parts of myself. I do have days where I really depressed and not in the mood for certain things. Unlike before I'm not going through it alone. I have lovely people to help me through it now. Sorry for the long comment but I'd just thought I'd get this out there to say things really do get better if you give it time and maybe try

I appreciate your comment ^.^ I had that as well. But somehow I think you get to a point where you accept yourself and say "This is me". And sometimes you just have to do something to change so you're happier with yourself. But I understand what you mean by that.

Laurenisnotanamazing PHAN I really relate to your comment, and I promise you it will get better. I recommend watching some of the youtubers The Sparkling Martins' videos as they are really uplifting and got me through my darkest days. They may seem a bit childish at some points, but they can really convey and good and uplifting message about yourself.

I feel weird going trough this comment section, because I never had that. I kinda always had friends and a wonderful family and was never depressed, I never hated myself. I am actually quite happy. ...does this mean that I'll eventually go through that phase as well? Is this what I can look forward to? Because it sounds really terrible.

Baguette Gott i wouldn't call it a phase.. its more like a giant hole that some of us get dragged into, and feel like there's no way to escape. but there always is, but some of us dont know that, thats the worst part of it all, thinking that you're all alone

I haven't cried this hard in months, and I think it's because I love dan so god damn much and it hurt me more than anything to see him miserable like he was. It brings me so much joy to see how he's grown up to love and cherish himself, and has found happiness in the little things in life. He's my hero, and I will NEVER deny that. I will always stand by him and Phil, and always love them. Thank you Daniel James Howell, For saving me, and for showing me that no matter what, there is someone there for me, even if you don't know that I exist. I love you Dad.

i really would enjoy if dan and phil did a reaction video to things like this. not the cringy phan shipping edits. but like, the ones that show how the best of friends they are, and ones like this that show dan through the years and how far he’s come. like this to sign the petition haha
