The story didn't need a war of genders and a 'all men are evil' storyline. The cinematography was great in this too, some great shots. Starts a bit slow, the end is kind of rushed but the part in the dragon's den/cave is better than most recent horror/survival movies. The CGI is great, there are some very satisfying scenes which stirred my emotions so overall was very much worth watching it.

I think Millie Bobbie Brown has a lot of potential, but it just seems that she is too keen in pushing herself in similar roles and wants to be the next Salt or Atomic Blonde. Which is fine but, none of her other roles, besides maybe Kong (which was very minor albeit), have a distinct aura from her Stranger Things role. They all showcase she is a tough and capable girl in fantastical settings, even Enola Holmes, where she is supposed to be much more intelligent than her brother and diminish the men's role to elevate hers. I think she should start diversifying her range to other types of roles and films. Maybe one where she is the antagonist? She certainly could pull off being the bitchy, but likeable mean girl. Or maybe a serious crime film, not as a cop, but maybe as someone who is investigating the crime on her own/from her perspective. I think she should leave these roles behind for a while, and maybe come back to them in a later future.

I think it refers to Keira and other actresses who pout a lot and act like models in a photoshoot, preoccupied with making their face and expressions 'pretty' rather than just acting true to the scene. The best actresses aren't afraid to 'ugly' it up a bit. It might not be the most flattering if you were to freeze the frame, but the acting feels much more realistic.

I love heroine journey type of movies, and so I really liked this movie. I don't need a "well rounded guy character" to have fun in a movie. I think this a very strange argument, usually coming from americans. I think people need to start thinking movies are not actually made for women or men, but It can be enjoyed by both genders, just like the Barbie movie did. I do agree the plot is a little thin, but for me the movie is really fun.

Yeah I don't understand that argument too. I think movies shouldn't have a gender, that's a very limiting mindset to be honest. But I am not an "american" so perhaps that's why I find odd this way of thinking.

@@MiguelPlata26 I'm an American who finds it odd too. In America, we are not homogeneous, all very different. Yet, there are these outspoken groups who try to speak for everybody. That's what is really odd. So much diversity here, everyone should really just speak for themselves. But there's also this need for an overarching narrative, so many try to tell the one true story.

I feel like I missed some depth to the story. I wish to have had just a little bit more bonding to the people (not much) Elodie's dad decided to sacrifice her for. So, I could live with him through that decision. Also a little more knowledge about his process in deciding to let the marriage come through, despite the consequences. And the relationship between the prince and Elodie and his character development. Because their bonding time was short, clearly because the family didn't care about their relationship. Nevertheless I would have found that interesting. So pretty much everything before the wedding had a fairly quick pace in my opinion. I would have liked to have seen more of the prince. As he seemed to start working his way out of his family system by not wanting to share the blood connection with Floria and refusing to sacrifice her. Also shared his wish to travel earlier (was that maybe a way of wanting to escape the system already and stop passing it to the next generation?). To me that felt like it could have been the beginning of a storyline, but they never came back to it. We don't know if he was just a coldhearted prince or making bad choices under the influence of his mother. I would have liked to see more development about that, whether he still would have ended in the dragon's fire (because after all they decided that his part was unforgivable) or maybe got a chance to fulfil his dreams afterwards, because he got some grace. I guess the storywriters had other priorities and it's their job, so I might be totally wrong, but I feel like I would have enjoyed it more with some of the elements written above. I also feel like that would have given Elodie as main character more depth, because we could see her emotional connection towards them. P.S. They did make great shots of Millie, which showed her as a beautiful as well as a strong character. And it seems that she found a challenge in the physical execution of the stunts, etc. Which is great.
