And people say damon's character didn't had a great development, Damon was in a internal fight every single day, trying to be a better man for his brother and the woman he loves, but dealing with the vampire, the evil, inside of him. 1x01 Damon and 8x16 Damon have nothing to do with each other, and you can't prove me wrong.

Thank You. This is something I wanted for a very long time. Damon Salvatore is one of the greatest tv characters of all time, his story is about tragedy, pain, anger, love & most importantly redemption. He didn’t change for Elena, he changed for himself. I truly believe that he loves Elena, but he needed to know how to be better for himself, & that’s exactly what he did. I hope years/decades from now, people can look back and reminisce TVD.

I always say that he did it for himself bc if it had been for anyone else he would’ve brought up every time he did something good but instead he just did good things and didn’t feel the need to look for praise. I believe Elena inspired him to let his humanity show bc she saw the good in him and showed him love/compassion when nobody else did but nobody could make him change if he didn’t want that for himself to begin with. He always had good in him, he just needed to believe it himself.

@@skylar6709 So to fully explain. Damon has always been a good person. But purposely suppresses his true self with an evil persona. Damon would also use this evil persona he created as a way to make the tough decisions that need to be made for the protection of those that he cares about, much like Klaus. Which is why he always falls off the wagon and welcomes hate whenever he makes a tough decision. Because it’s his only way to justify it and he’d just learned to embrace the hate. And so it’s as you say, his love for Elena is what truly helped him learn to be selfish and stop acting evil to protect the people he cared about. Elena taught him to put his own desires first and it was his desire for love.

Damon hands down is my favorite character, Ian did a great job. I really miss this show and its characters!

One of the best Damon analysis videos I've fans have seen in awhile. Even though I'm not the biggest fan of Damon being redeemed, they're some good points to it.

This is art! My God I'm speechless at how amazing this was you both did an incredible job captured every single aspect of his character and after watching it I kinda like damon now. Your first part was so intense with being the big bad vampire but that ending was beautiful really loved your use of quotes for this one especially "salvatore's unshakable bond. The way you showed the relationship from hate to love and love to hate and back again was perfect definitely made Stefen death alot more emotional. Really enjoyed this one you both have created the perfect masterpiece for the TVD universe 💙

This seemed like a film, just...the narrative and themes that carried on throughout the video. Well done!

i feel like Damon is often misunderstood… people think he’s selfish and evil but that’s because they don’t realize or don’t understand his struggles, yes, he made mistakes but which character didn’t make mistakes?yes he often didn’t care about people but that’s not because he was evil or bad, thats because he thought just like Katherine… “it’s your life or theirs” and he made those mistakes to survive and cope with the pain to live as a vampire, to keep going since his own brother made him turn when he didn’t want to. He is one of the most selfless characters in TVD, he always protected those he loved all the time, always protected his friends, the women he loved and his family aka Stefan not matter at what extent he had to go through to save them, even if he was hated he still tried to protect those that he cares for. He also went through a lot of pain, being a second option when i came to the girls he loved, always looking like the bad guy for his decisions when he always had a reason. He deserved his happy ending. Thank you for making this edit, it made me smile. 🤍🤍🤍

God, this video made me smile and cry my eyes out at the same time. It made me realize how much i love Damon. More than any and every fictional character. He will always be my favourite. "He's The Better Man. He's The Right Man."

Damon’s character showed a streak of emotion and personal growth but stephans character regressed he was always going to yo-yo between being good a ripper. He wasn’t going to get better than he was. You could feel the chemistry between Damon and Elaines first love scene. That didn’t look fake.

Elena didn't change Damon. He made a conscious decision to. He realized pretending to be bad and being impulsive hurt him a lot more than others.

@@TheToxicBishop A lot of people misunderstand Damon but not completely. They get some things right. He is in a mental battle every episode. But it’s because Damon has always been a good person. But purposely suppresses his true self and wants people to believe that he is evil. Damon without hesitation was always ready to sacrifice himself for the people he cared about, even early on. Throughout the series, it wasn’t that he was learning to become a better person. He was learning to just be himself. And every time we’d see him being nice or do good is the true Damon that he normally suppresses. Throughout the show, Damon has always been the most selfless character in it, despite the bad things he would do. This was the realization Stephan came to at the end when he sacrificed himself for Damon. He realized that Damon had always been the better brother but was corrupted by him. This is why he, like Elijah with Klaus would try to help Damon be better because both Elijah and Stephan realized that they were the ones who corrupted Klaus and Damon and made them that way. Klaus for example is the same, where he had always been a good person as shown by his human flashbacks but due to his taken on responsibility of caring for his family, he sacrificed himself and became a necessary evil. Klaus made himself become desensitized to murder and the horrors of the world in order for him to effectively care for his family. It’s why he built such an evil reputation, he did it to make people scared of him and in turn scared to mess with his family from fear of what he’d do to them if they did. Literally without Klaus all of the Originals would be dead from their mistakes and stupidity yet they blame Klaus for daggering them. In both instances Klaus and Damon are the truly compassionate and kind hearted character but allow themselves to be painted as the villain so that the ones that they care about can live well. They are so selfless that they don’t care if everyone hates them and in fact welcome it because it’s the only acknowledgment that they get from all that they do for the people they care about which is sad and why they turned out so “evil” as vampires because they embraced the hate and started convincing themselves that they truly were the fake “evil” persona that they created.

Touching story.. I can't ignore how brave and gorgeous Damon is..

This is genuinely the best Damon Salvatore edit I have seen till date!! You truly encapsulated the real aspects that every Damon Salvatore fan felt and loved him for! The fact that you literally made it in much synergy that explained every layer about him… I’ve always thought that probably people who despise him and always make us count about all the horrible things that he has done perhaps couldn’t really comprehend with who he was exactly. Yes, he did unjustifiably horrible things but he did it because he thought he was entitled to do it, because probably that he wanted to accept who he was; a monster; what exactly a vampire does and he had fully buried the human side of him but then gradually he started realising that being a monster is not exactly who he is. The caring and the wisest one with a pinch dark humour was the real him! And I won’t just give credit for that to only Elena or Stefan, It was many people; liz, Alaric, Bonnie, rose, enzo, caroline (towards the end) and the more than anything I loved how you showed when he said to matt that I’ve always liked the sheriffs of this town shows that how much he grew. Damon is a very emotionally layered in a very multidimensional way! Truly loved this edit will keep it with me. Kudos to you!!! It is really meticulously and beautifully presented. I hope someday Ian himself watches this particular edit. More power🤝

it’s almost 12 years, when i used to watch this show weekly but it just feels like yesterday and this show is so much connected to me that i cannot even think of moving on from this show and The Originals

After watching many TVD KZread videos, I think some fans have ignored what this show is about. These vampires are heightened versions of their human selves, and as such, would make mistakes as humans do. Fall off the wagon, revert back to old habits, be tempted as people often are. And in making these mistakes, forgiveness is understandable and very much necessary. No vampire in this show is without fault. Not only because they're part monster, but because humans are flawed, after all. I just watched this series for the first time last year, and I have to say... Damon is by far one of my favorite characters of all-time, and it's mostly due to his character journey. He made the show worth watching for me. Thank you for creating this great video, both of you.

Bruh your editing always hits you really capture the essence of what the show is trying to portray and not in a flashy way. It’s amazing and you’re so talented. I am always excited for your next upload because I know it’ll always be good.

I love Damon and I will always love him. His character growth is everything. I love his relationships with Stefan, Rose, Elena, Caroline, Bonnie, Liz and Ric. He cared, and he did his best to protect those he loved.

As a the firstborn child Damon was always put second. His mom never protected him, and his dad practically despised him. And In turn, always put Stefans needs ahead of his own, looking out for him, protecting him. Trying his dam hardest to ensure Stefan had a better childhood than what he had. Damon Salvatore has been the second longer than anyone else. When it came down to it, he wanted an end to it all, and Stefan took that away from him. So many seem to hate him for the way he treated stef, but did you forget? Damon treasured Stefan, he was the first good thing Damon ever had. And, yet again, was stabbed in the back over and over. Hurt by the one person he loved more than anyone. *Promising an eternity of misery to the brother who continues to stand in the light.* Second to the “hero,” remaining the “villain.” All that pain he experienced began at a very young age, and later swallowed him. Damon has so much loss, so much betrayal. He learned to make the hard choices, to numb the pain, and not be suffocated by emotion. He survives. When Elena comes into his life, she shows him what it means to be loved. That he deserved it from the start. In death she’s the one who made him, finally feel alive. Even though he is her second choice, he will *always* be her last. As Niklaus once said… “He is your first love.. I intend to be your last.”
