Nowadays it can take me weeks to build a kit like the Lancaster. And yet, when I was a child all it took was one weekend. Of course, when I was young the results where not very good. Excitement and a desire to see the model completed were a huge driving force. I am really keen to see if you race to the end in order to achieve your self-imposed deadline. Good Luck!

In hindsight I wish I'd spend a day of two longer; but I knew I just would never finish it unless I set a deadline - sometimes it's fun to do that! 😂💜
Congrats from Mexico City!, very nice and awesome build!..

Fantastic build! I really need to pick up one of these. I have a Dambusters Lancaster but it is the old 1970's Revell one that I did and reminded me of the old tool Airfix kit!

This was really fun! And proof you can do it in a weekend! 💜💜
It does feel mad that Airfix are like - yo, have a starter set... Oh, and a behemoth 4 engine bomber.... Also. A Lancaster in a weekend?! You are mad and I love it!

Well done, looks great and your so right a model is for the builder so it can't be wrong. I'd like to follow in your footsteps but as I'm getting on my eyesight isn't what it was and now as a result I don't build anything below 1/48th scale.

Thank you so much! And hey, there are 1/48 Lancasters around! Even 1/32 if you want to spend your entire life savings! 😅 But seriously - you could do it just ignore the interior detail. Not like you'd see it most the time anyway! 🤔💜
An excellent build, I built the kit that came with the airfield set, also your cat Archie could be my cat`s twin as they have exactly the same colouring. yours Steve...

Good taste in cats and planes then! 💜💜
We are getting ready to move and I found my model stash in the basement. I have not built anything for since we moved to this house. This Lancaster is there. Been there for around 25 years. Once we get to the new house, I'll build a few small kits then try tackling this one.

Honestly, don't be put off by it! If it's the older Lancaster it'll be a bit of a pigs ear - but tbh you don't see most the internal detail, and bar it having a lot of glass they're not as intimidating as you think they are. You got this - and if not; crash diorama! 😂💜

@@MsModeller Back in the day, the big kits didn't scare me, I have built B-17s, B-24s and B-29s in both 1/72 and 1/48. Also, the B-1 Lancer in both scales. A Stirling in 1/72, as well as the huge RB-36 as well as a YB-35 and YB-49. Now, I'll restart with single engine, tail dragging fighter kits from Academy and hope my ability can match my vision.
I did this kit, it was a pain in the backside, you did a great job 👏🏻

After watching your Airfix F35B build, you gave me the inspiration to build one myself and what a lovely little kit it is, so Thankyou for inspiring us to have a go xxx

@@MsModeller no I'm just not into jets, I'm more ww2 piston planes. I marvel at the technology of modern aircraft but my thing is propellers 😆
Fabulous well done M. Looks like the Flight Director Archie was very keen indeed for you to do both kits swiftly following on together. Love the soft camouflage. So different than the hard line type for a change. Lets hope there are more of the big heavies being built at the aircraft factory very soon. Like the B24 B26 and of course the B17 E and G versions. The Lancaster always reminds me of my Grandad who flew in them during WW2 so I do have a close fondness for them. Besides the Wellington, Short Sterling, Hampden, and many others he flew in. Additionally, I really like that new airbrush you used. The paint went on the Lancaster like a dream that came true and those Life Colour paints really seem to work so well on application through that brush. The reason I say that is I used them on that Reggione Italian WW2 fighter by normal brush spots and the colours look really good. So now that I have moved Ill start on the models again. Its been a while. Let me know about the airbrush though. I could do with one like that in the near future. Thanks again to you and Archie for another wonderful video. Bye for now Dean.

The Airbrush I used and bought was the Fengda FE-186K which (now I look at the price) was £27.99 on Amazon. I literally took it out of the packed and airbrushed in this video; zero prep. I'm glad the Lancaster was enjoyable and met expectations for you - I really worried I'd messed this up! Archie appears to approve as I left this out and he saw it on my desk and didn't destroy it! Unlike literally every other model I've had! 💜😂💜
An Amazing Build, just need the same confidence to build my 1/32 B-17G

I mean if you were buying both it's good value, but if you're like @VFCproductions then you'll laugh at the disgusting F-35! I think the F-35 is kinda cute tbh 😂
its about time i got on with my Lancaster B.III though I've had the 1:180 HMS Victory sitting around for a year or two I don't know where to start I've just about finished my marine spitfire to get warmed up and I've got the Revell MK V which I think Ill start next before the Dambusters the ship can wait it looks well complicated! but now Ime inspired yours looked realy good in the end. if my attempt turns out half as good Ill be happy to try anything! & if you can do with those nails, so thanks💅

I think that you did on smashing job on this kit. I still can't believe that you built it in a weekend! It would take me like 3 weeks to do it at the rate that I plod along. Good choice on getting a new airbrush. It has made a huge difference in the finish you achieved.

I do the same! The missing window and hydraulic part are obscured from view! However, since being told bigger kits are more likely to have gaps I feel MUCH better about this! 😂💜

Well, I may or may not have already got one planned for you! Likely for Christmas but it's happening! 💜💜
Addendum: YES THE BLACK PAINT IS WRONG I'M SORRYYYYYYYYYYYY 🥲🥲🥲 Also yes, I did varnish - Velljo Satin Acrlyic varnish. I just forgot to mention it the whole video. The parts I lost that I mentioned were the hydraulic motor to start rotation on the bouncing bomb, one of the transparencies, and another part I lost to the carpet monster! I said "missions" rather than sorties as well. This kit is not my best; but I learnt a lot from it. It was a massive fear of mine doing a bigger kit - so I'm proud of myself just for doing it! It's a massive accomplishment for me and I'm super proud of it even though it doesn't look that good! I know I didn't film everything but I needed to just do some bits in a more comfy position than I can whilst filming so I hope y'all understand - I tried to do the important bits on camera 💜💜
Like the way you go about doing kits, just have a go do want feels right and enjoy it... so what if all the decals are not all on there and the colours are not exactly what they used on the Tuesday the 16 in 1940 when they painted it.. :-) :-) your first big model.. that's it now more 1/48 scale please..

Excellent video but if anyone from Airfix is watching this can i ask WHY are you still including these paints and small brushes with these starter sets...the paint is garbage (as far as my expiernce of them tells me) and other than painting small parts these brushes are ussless.
@MsModeller
Жыл бұрын
I can't comment as to why Airfix still offer them; I frankly bin them instantly. I understand for kids they may be great, but when I bought some for a an ex's nephew years ago I bought a kit without paint and bought some better paint instead; I'd rather pay £2-3 more for a kit for better paints. But only Hornby know what Hornby does. 😂💜
