Damaged Wind Turbine - Controlled Demolition, Inc.
Ғылым және технология
In mid-October of 2022, a wind turbine located near Taft, Texas, experienced a thermal event in causing damage to its nacelle and blades. Given the hanging debris from the damaged wind turbine and the condition of the tower, the wind farm owner decided to keep all personnel and investigators away from the damaged unit until a decision was made on how to safely proceed with the damaged structure. Less than a week later, high winds caused the damaged nacelle and blades to fall to grade near the base of the unit, leaving only the 78-meter-tall tower standing. The wind farm owner subsequently determined that the damaged unit was not a candidate for crane dismantling for reasons of duration of exposure to worker safety and looked for an alternative means of bringing the tower down quickly to reduce exposure of the foundation to tower oscillation and for potential reuse of the foundation for a replacement wind turbine unit.
The manufacturer took the lead and contacted CDI directly regarding our ability to fell the 78-meter-tall tower within a 45-degree arc in a direction that would avoid below-grade collection lines and disruption of debris at grade that had not as yet been inspected by consulting engineers/insurers. The goal was to retain use of the existing foundation for rapid erection of a replacement unit. A main demolition contractor was selected to prepare the unit in accordance with CDI’s plan under the supervision of the CDI field representative. CDI felled the tower at 9:37 AM local time in that direction of fall which would not disrupt debris at grade or cause damage to the foundation.

Secret shaped-charge tech!
Why blurring the explosive area? trade secret?
Going down 💣 exactly as intended by The MASTERS in the Art of Demolition 😎 👍🏻
Awesome as ever, with terrific audio on this one! 1:44 The Sandhill Cranes seemed to enjoy it too! 😎✌🏼
Blurring was silly, not like we couldn’t see the exact location of the cuts as it fell 🤣🤣

I assume it was more placement of shaped charges - competitive reasons?

Can KZread get any dumber?
Why did you blur one part of the video just before the explosion ?

So you cant sell the same product.

I don't think it was blurred intentionally, I think it was just the placement of the watermark made it appear blurry.

Possibly in accordance to YT's absurd policies

I wondered this too since you can just zoom in at 1:01 and see it all fairly clearly

Probably aren't allowed to / supposed to show zoom shots of explosives on KZread
Another terrific job by the dynamic dynamiters of CDI
Videos on this channel never get old. Thank you for sharing.
I love watching your videos! You get the perfect camera angles every time!
0:16 3... 2... 1... Fire I'm The Hole! 0:24 TIIIIIIMMMBEEEEEEEEERRR!!!
Thank You CDI! Making the world a better place one charge at a time.
You can almost literally hear all the birds rejoicing when this hits the ground!
Great shot as always!!!
Excellent job as usual - nothing much a few well placed shaped charges can't handle! :)
Some of those wind turbines in the background look nervous...
I'm surprised the door on the bottom withstood the blast and stayed on it's hinges.
Who cut the scarf? Like tree felling, just that the release back cut was with explosives
Where are the blades
Well that explosion woke up all the birds.😂😅😂🤣😂🤣😂
The birds:WHAT THE HELL IS THAT
i heard those cranes that were there to help with the clean up. 1:40
Don't we all just love this "green" energy?????????
Ecologically very sound indeed.
Why is the explosion site at the time of the explosion blurred? New idiotic KZread rules?
That was such an odd sound that thing made as it fell, but it was extremely satisfying. I can see why you would want to keep the foundation intact, pouring a new foundation is hard, but removing an existing foundation would be much harder. You did a great job of this one and I'm sure the property owner is happy with the result.
hey guys, gemmygod here!
That was a sad thing to do that to the wind turbine but it was not in great shape another one is going up in the place of the One that got messed up
It's dead Jim....(from Star Trek)
Gotta love when these abominations go down.
Can you do the rest of them please while you are there. Useless blots on the horizon, total waste of money and land when whole life cycle evaluated.
If you’re ever needing a photographer to document projects I’m available for assignment.

It looks like this wind turbine caught fire burned up and the naccel fell off
Please, destroy more of those unsightly wind turbines.
Should happen to every single one of them rotary murder machines should be totally outlawed

Because the pollution from other energy plants never killed any living thing?

35,000 people die on the roads every year in the US, so we should outlaw roads too? 🙄 Coal plants release MORE radioactivity into the environment than nuclear plants do along with mercury and other persistent pollutants. So what's your point?

House cats kill way more birds than wind turbines. Cats don’t even provide clean energy. No bird can live in a world on fire anyway.
