Thank you for showing that under the rebar reinforced foundation the puddle of concrete it is built over is not much more than a thin layer of soil prep.

Looking at the I’d guess about 2000 ton of concrete and maybe 100 ton steel. Didn’t look like they compacted the backfill they used to cover it but if they did there’d be possibly another couple of thousand ton dirt on top of the concrete

@@jimmytwostones It takes 8 tonnes of coal, with 4 tonnes of iron ore and 1 tonne of limestone to make just 1 tonne of steel. And the Greenies want to stop coal mining to eliminate greenhouse gas emissions. ????????? I think there is a whole heap of hypercriticism going on in government over the issues.

It all sounds ‘So-good’ to me -- much like any political ‘too_good_to _be_true’. Typical of political Hocus_Pocus to me!!! By the find out the truth most of us will be dead and gone. They’ll just change the whole situation and still nothing anybody can do.

A Friction foundation would probably use much less concrete and steel to achieve the required torque at maximum wind load plus headroom

that is correct. An amount of steel , concrete and everything moved, manufactured, and so on with diesel machines...all very renewable! . A windmill of 2MW is about 1600tm ( 1200 of concrete + 70 of steel for foundation + 350 the windmill)

Do you know many roads need to be constructed to enable the delivery & erection of just one wind turbine & what's the average life of a wind turbine & do they all get scrapped in an ecological way & are birds, humans & other creatures effected negatively by wind turbines?

It's a complicated calculation. Here's a comment I've made on other videos: I have not yet seen an honest assessment of how much fossil fuel is consumed manufacturing everything related to the foundation. Rebar and concrete require huge amounts of fossil fuel to mine the raw materials, condition/prep the raw materials, make iron then steel then rebar and concrete. Add the steel and copper and composites that make up the wind turbine itself. And finally the entire construction project from site prep to assembly to interconnection. I want to know when a wind turbine has produced enough electricity to offset the fossil fuel burned to produce it. I've seen claims that the answer is never.

@@thetasworld For one turbine, 300 cubic yards of cement for the foundation. That's over 2 million pounds each, 40 truckloads of cement! Can you smell carbon foot print ? And the toxicity of the production of the électronics? The mining of the various métals (some ordinary, some bizarre) for both those électronics and the foundation. The severly toxic chemical used in the Labs where components are produced. White coveralls, gloves and booties and respirators for those working on these machines. This is about big business, not about ecology. Then, decommisioning à unit after its 20 year peak of production, and another 10 years for good measure and réputation, and you have masses of nothing reusable. Tons of fiberglass which is pretty much the same as asbestos suitable for the landfills (back to the earth ?) Électronics which required spécial treatment, and oh yeah, à 69 foot block of cement that will never, ever be moved anywhere. LMAO. Do you see how naïve we can be when we rally behind big business that's waving an ECO flag ?
