I do think we focus more on not having dry, brittle, dehydrated hair - so we moisturize to the extreme. Thank you for telling and *showing* us the PROCESS of how to bring back the protein in that balance. Your hair looks healthy and happy 😁

You are 100% correct. Too much water will weight down our hair and leave us super limp. I make sure the products I make have a nice combination of protein rich oils. Love this video! Keep them coming!

I feel like people are afraid of protein so they don't bother using it, and then wonder why their hair isn't acting right and breaking off. I'm glad you shared your experience so others can be made aware that too much of a good thing can backfire real quick. I'm also glad you give solutions, some of KZreadrs disappear when they have a setback instead of using it to teach others.

Your wash n go is POPPING! I use the Aphogee very seldom (only when I’m going into a protective style for a few months). One of my favorite protein treatments is the ORS Hair Mayo ( I use one a month, or every other month) it’s not as strong as the Aphogee, but does the trick just right!

Omg! I'm now realizing the problem with my hair!! I'm definitely overloading my hair with moisture! Starting my journey back to bouncy curls, today! Moisture overload made me give up on my curly hair! I literally just decided that I would be a "straight natural" because I couldn't get my curls to act right. I kept trying moisturizing conditioners and it wasn't getting any better. Now I know why! Thanks sis! I'm motivated on getting my curls back in line now!

Asked my hairstylist about this and she gave a really good tip: It’s damage from the hair expanding and contracting too often while using improper products and styling methods. The hair has likely been too wet for too long and began to break down.

I've heard that you can't over moisturise type 4 hair as it is dry in nature and that what we call 'moisture overload' is actually just protein deficiency. Don't know if anyone else has heard this. I think it's good advice to alternate between moisturising and protein DCs. I have just started henna every 6 weeks as my strengthening solution but I have noticed that although I lose little hair in the shower after rinsing out my DC I shed more so that has led me to believe I'm either leaving it on for too long or I don't have enough protein in my hair to handle deep treatments.

thank you so much for sharing this. i am going through moisture overload right now, and this is the most clear advice i could find. i was wondering what shampoo you used and what your exact routine was. did you just shampoo, then go straight to the protein deep conditioner and that’s it? then a spray of leave in and gel? thanks in advance.

Your hair looks amazing! Did this happen on your no oil journey? I now prepoo with something that has coconut oil in it. Sitting under the dryer for 30 minutes for conditioning can be a lot though. I was told to stop period due to expanding of the cuticle. And that you should let the hair cool before wetting it again if doing that. 10-15 min max is what I have heard.

Love your video!! I have 2c hair and 3a in back of head and my hair gets moisture overload so easy!!! Its funny when I straightened my hair, my hair loved moisture but when I went natural, it goes flat so bad w too much moisture. I've been using aphogee curl cream and spray that is loaded w protein and Sally's also has this clear huge tub that is called protein gel for like 6 bucks. My hair loves these. The micelle was too moisturizing for me lol. I loved the devacurl deep sea but its discontinued. So is the wavy loo poo that was loaded w protein. I've yet to try the curl bond. My hair also loves moptop frizz gel and their curly custard but it's too expensive for every day lol. I'm also finding that texture ID from sallys has some products that are good. Their foam is awesome. I have their protein treatment pack but haven't used it yet. I want to try their wavy line. Its such a struggle when almost all curly products are heavily moisture based. I think us moisture sensitive curly girls are the exception lol

I use the shea moisture the one you just showed. Quick question is it good to use as just my deep conditioner/protein treatment or I should use a different deep conditioner after I wash out that protein or i can just use as both? Also is it good to use it one week amd just a different deep conditioner the next week.?

Do you think it was easier for you to have moisture overload because your low porosity? I know that means your cuticles are tightly packed so all that moisture is trapped in there and not able to get out.

I think I might have moisture overload but I’m not sure. How long did it take you to get over it, and do you think visiting a salon would help me identify moisture overload? I think I should go to the shop and maybe get a protein treatment. I just don’t want to end up at the salon, and then after end up with even more damaged hair.
