Dalmatie - A large green skinned berry fig with superb flavor!
This variety doesn't get a lot of hype but its amazing to me that a fig this large can have such a good taste. I was surprised by the great flavor of Dalmatie this year, which is in its third growing season for me.

Dalmatie really takes off with age. 3 years is where it starts. You'll get much bigger fruits forward. Brebas are even bigger. One particular thing - it needs a lot of sun to ripen well.
As you've mentioned on your site, this fig for some strange reason doesn't get much attention...In US at least. But here (on the Balkans) it is one of the staple varieties. It is slow grower, but because of that is quite hardy fig. The taste, (and it is a huge size) is amazing. One caveat - it does need a lot of sun to become really good. 8 hours a days is the minimum. Brebas are huge (100 gr minimum up to 250gr). Again - this fig is known since ages, and for a reason!

Good I live from thailand
Have you grown out Leon's Montenegro? I've heard it's a possible synonym for Dalmatie/Stella.

I'm growing it now, but it hasn't fruited for me yet.
Pete, (ktrain on ourfigs) I have seen references to this one being the same or genetically close to Brunswick, is that your opinion? - I want to add it but I know Brunswick has a huge tendency to split easily. There are a few of us who follow you closely because you have a similar climate, I'm in North Ga. So your opinion is valued and appreciated.

No I don’t think so. There are a bunch of varieties that are similar to Dalmatie, including Stella, Leo Longhissimo, Leon’s Montenegro, and Qora Yasile. It’s possible that Brunswick is close on a family tree, but it is definitely seems different and has different characteristics. Dalmatie will stay green, it doesn’t darken. It also isn’t much of a splitter. Given its large size Dalmatie performs really well.
