There were so many imitators but Dallas was the best prime time soap opera ever. They had the best story lines and great actors.

I watched it up to the season when Bobby married April and she was kidnapped and killed on their honeymoon. I had already starting losing interest but once that happened I quit watching. It was the best night time soap ever. But others tried to copy it and not so successful .

They started adding new younger characters who really didn't enhance the show nor spark any real interest among the viewers. Including myself. Even the final show was quite distressing and just took away from the phenomenal writing and story lines of the first 9 seasons.

Dallas is undoubtedly the greatest TV drama of all time! Nothing even comes close!!

I love this show. Dallas was, is, and always will be the best show, ever.

Looks like this show will go down in history as a classic like" Casablanca".

They'll never be another JR ewing 1 in a million. Dallas was the best soap opera of all time. Not like the trash on tv now.

I prefer the original Dallas as opposed to the reboot. The reboot could have done without all the rough profanity. I know it was on cable, but I still think the profanity was a bit much.

Was absolutely obsessed with Dallas back in the day. BBC1 on a Wednesday night - no internet, social media in those days - we were just glued to it and couldn't wait until the next episode!

I remember watching that pilot episode thinking, "who in the WORLD drives a convertible with the top down on a Farm-to-Market road in brutally cold weather with the Texas wind in your face"!

As a 12 year old in 1985, I wasn't allowed watch Dallas, my mum thought it was not suitable for kids. I used to watch it, in my friend's house instead. It was on Friday nights in Ireland. 25th of August 2021.

Same thing with my parents. I was 9 years old in 1981 and My dad would say: “ I don’t want you watching this. It’s adult subject matter”. So when I became an adult I was all up on those reruns….😂😂😂

Born in 1976, my parents used to watch it, and now in my 40s, I'm gonna re watch the series :). Even my fashion sense and music is from the 60s and 70s. Times were good back then

In Romania it was on every Saturday evening. Everybody would give up whatever they had going on just to watch the show. Everybody was hooked! :D A rich guy in Romania even build a Southfork Ranch replica and invited the whole cast over for a party! Those were the good times!!!!!!!!

Dallas was my favorite show at that time. I watched if faithfully every Friday night. Pam and Patrick were both so beautiful and I loved their relationship. They don't make shows like Dallas anymore. Dallas was the first primetime soap opera and the best. This brought back a lot of great memories and I love how the cast members got along so well.

Beautiful tv-series. When Dallas begun i've 2 years old in 1978 and i have wonderful memories when i was a child. The 70 and 80 it was nice years whith Dallas and the actess is so beautiful: Victoria Principal, Charlene Tilton and Linda Gray...

So tragic about Patrick's parents no one must go through something as tragic as that

This is actually brilliant. It's great to see that they had so much fun, there was camaraderie between the cast members and people were genuine. You won't get that with modern hollywood.

I was one of the original season's addicts to DALLAS. I have the entire series on DVD. It's long been clearly evident DALLAS' unusual cast got along exceptionally well together. Great show! Thank you for doing this nice and light-hearted special on DALLAS!

Dallas, Dynasty, Falcon Crest, and Knots Landing were called Primetime soap operas in the U.S.A. Dallas was the originator and by far, the best nighttime '80s drama of that era.

I lived in Fort Worth at that time. Got to visit Southfork as they were filming!

Don't SKIP THIS VIDEO- If you area true Dallas fan like I was and still am...then you shall love this tribute video. I have loved it 1981(first run in Germany)...I love it now...and I will love it in the future...FOREVER💖💖💖 What a wonderful crew(family).

I'm binge watching the series now---- 40 years later! I was 8 years-old when the show began and I remember my mom watching the show every Friday night and I actually began watching the show with her --- Pam was my first crush! I find myself enjoying the show even more today with THOSE memories as a youth AND having years behind me for experience to appreciate the story. Thanks to all those who brought us a wonderfully entertaining show. AND I still consider myself to have a crush on Pam-- and my wife knows it!

I've been binge watching on Amazon Prime and I still love this show, dream sequence or not, Dallas was the best show ever.

Bobby and pam were my favorite couple on DALLAS

We'll never see the like of a series like this ever again on today's TV. Truly THE great show of the 80's! And you know it was unique, because the other networks rushed to put out their own knock-offs. Like "Falcon Crest" and "Dynasty". I guess imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. But none of these other imitations was as memorable as the original "Dallas".

It was the best show, so intense to watch, loved all the actors.

I´m watching it again since may 9th....in an endless loop(but now only the original english version) I was 16 years old when it started here in Germany(1981 every tuesday 9:45 p.m) and I baby sitting my sisters kids. To brought them to bed in time so I can watch my beloved Dallas without interruption ;-) For me back in the 80`s it was a torture to wait a whole week for the next episode, and now I can watch an entire season in two days😁

Awe, grew up watching this with Mam until started watching it/Recordings. Got the DvD's (with a few good Commentaries), but RIP JR/Larry H, Barbara Bel Geddes, Jock/Jim Davis, Howard Keel + Leonard Katzman etc etc. Absolute Legends and this show was/is addictive. Top Doc'.👍

This was great seeing their togetherness offscreen. Makes me feel condolences for them and the cast (friends) they have lost.

They made a balls of the continuation,they should have been better prepared knowing J.R died and rather than the nonsense that followed it could’ve carrying on for one more season rather than the cliffhanger they left us with,at that,they got another season and should have known either way it wouldn’t be back after that extended run…

Thanks to some of you, for reminding me of Falcon Crest and Knotts Landing. I totally for about those 2 series. I forgot it was called Soap Operas too. Fond memories of those years. My grandma was from Malacca, Malaysia and did not have much schooling. My family all were educated in English medium schools. We all spoke English at home. Some how she pick it up. Oh, when it comes to Dallas, Dynasty, Falcon Crest, no one is allowed to choose other TV channels. Probably she was in her mid 50s and I was around 17 years old. What a memory for me.

I wish they would bring back the reruns of Dallas, falcon crest,and knotts landing they were great and I am sure a lot of people would love this to today's TV shows are boring writers today don't have it like the old timers

Glad they had fun. Wonderful cast. Thanks for entertaining us. (I also liked how they kept the same supporting cast for the run of the show.) Lucy...😂 turns off the radio. She was hilarious! (Didn't know Patrick did a record. It seemed he couldn't keep a straight face singing )

@@jurgenf5771 So eine tolle Serie wie Dallas wird es leider nicht mehr geben genau so tolle Schauspieler wie bei Dallas wird es auch nicht mehr geben. Barbara Bel Geddes ( Miss Ellie) war immer mein absoluter Favorit. J. R. konnte ich nie leiden aber Privat als Larry Hagman war er sympathisch.

I remember reading the book at about 11. My parents didnt know ofcourse as it was an adult book full of adult themes . It had bn given to my mum by american friends of ours they bein involved in the oil industry in aberdeen in the late 70s . I had gotten my hands on the book after watching it on tv . The book was an eye opener . To say the least . Ive still got it somewhere now im 52 and dallas was a long time ago . I miss those days of goin into the american foodstore in aberdeen wearing a peterbuilt truck baseball hat . When there were so many americans in aberdeenshire . Radars was an american theme bar in aberdeen itself no longer there but i loved my first taste of root beer and their burgers and ice cream sundaes all american fayre . Loved visiting that place . Wish it was still there . Loved the juke box lots of american country artists on it like merle haggerd etc etc and stuff like lynard skynard . Music i still love to this day . Miss mum and dad very much too .

Excellent documentary with solid interviews.

I Had to watch this due to my mam and sisters I have to say J.R was one funny guy, J.R's last film was in the Oliver Stone film "Nixon" and he plays an Oil baron ,there was many series on our video but got say I liked

before Patrick Duffy was in Dallas I used to watch him with Belinda J Montgomery in the TV series called The Man From Atlantis as he had webbed hands and feet as I am dedicating this TV series called The Man From Atlantis to my old school friends who are both sisters as I hope to see them again very soon to Chris and Hester from Billyxxxxx

This episode of After They Were Famous originally aired in 2002--yikes almost 20 yrs ago? btw I'm having fun watching Dallas all over again, almost done with Season 3. Loved it so much back in the day!

When I was in orphanage me and my house mother would watch Dallas every afternoon at 12h30 south african time

I watched it with my mom, too. It was the beautifully S time, in my childhood.
