DALLAS 2012 Season 2 Clip (The Death Of J.R. Ewing)
This clip is the final moments from the episode "The Furious & The Fast", the 7th episode of the second season of TNT's revival of the CBS 1978-91 drama "Dallas".
This episode is notable for two things: Ted Shackelford, who played black sheep brother Gary Ewing on the original series for a few episodes and continued the role on the popular 1979-93 CBS soap spin-off "Knots Landing", returns to the show in a guest appearance.
Second, and most sadly, it would be the final screen appearance of Larry Hagman as J.R. Ewing, as he died during production on November 23, 2012 from throat cancer. This episode aired on March 7, 2013.
After losing a race with Christopher (Jesse Metcalfe) that would force the Ewings to side with him, a defeated John Ross (Josh Henderson) calls his father to inform of the results. J.R. uncharacteristically apologizes for all the pain he has caused John Ross, and tells him that he loves him. He also informs him that he has a plan to make everything right because John Ross shouldn't have to pay for his sins. Fully reconciled with his son, J.R.'s facial expression turns to sadness as he hears footsteps come into his Mexican hotel room. Over the phone, John Ross hears two gunshots and a body slump. Horrified, John Ross yells for his father, but deep inside, he knows the truth: J.R. Ewing has been killed....for real this time.

JR Ewing, one of the meanest villains ever on television. RIP Larry Hagman. You are missed!
John Ross going from calling “JR” to “Dad” is heartbreaking.💔💔💔💔 Rest In Peace Larry Hagman.🙏❤️
This season and this episode is in loving memory of Larry Hagman! May he RIP!
I was bawling during this scene 😭
Mr Hagman's final moments as JR are haunting; the look in his eyes as the footsteps sound behind him - he knew that this really was the end; time was truly up...

The way John Ross calls out "Dad"...oh man!
After Mr. Hagman passed away and JR was out of the show, it really went downhill. It had such potential, but the new writers had no idea how to write Dallas.

It was ok to begin with, but the showrunner just simply didn´t understand what "Dallas" was really about. By season 3 she had turned it into a gangster saga with drug cartels etc.
God this is so.heartbreaking!😢😢😢😢💔💔💔💔💔 Rest well, Larry.

One of the saddest scenes in TV history, loved how John Ross went from saying J.R after hearing the shot, then yelling dad and then saying lower. I hate how the show ended, but I understand why it ended.
R.I.P. Larry Hagman you were great as J.R. Ewing in both TV shows of Dallas.
This was the saddest scene I’ve ever seen loved watching DALLAS R.I.P Larry Hagman

@@artscafe9371 So you are a total moron that was not a fan of Dallas.
This always makes me cry
Works better than Livia Soprano's last scene.
The story line should be had JR Ewing had leukemia for years and kept his disease a secret for several years and had been battling depression.

Bum (their informant). JR specifically requested it as a mercy-killing because he had terminal cancer. And they only went that route because it was the only footage they had available, and they had to jury-rig it to spin it into a workable scene. There were supposedly plans to keep J.R. on the show for many more years, but he would have been relegated to appearances sitting in the back of a limo talking with other characters as he went from meeting to meeting, but that obviously fell through with his death.
