    all the containers that are trash are on the left side of the ship. the ones that were on the right side have already been removed. as for ballast, they use seawater as ballast and can move that to ballance the ship.

    Imagine having a bunch of those containers full of stuff you want to sell and being told you can't remove them and get them on another ship because they are "ballast"!

    They're talking about "ballast". What happens when all those containers are "delivered" somewhere. The trimming of the ship has to be recalculated eventually. I mean, the main idea here is to pickup and deliver all the goods in these boxes, isn't it?

    ...don't quite follow the reasoning..if containers were unloaded ship would be higher in the water..so what is the pproblem? can someone tell me? greetings from the south pacific ocean AotearoaNZ.

    If its to high out it can be top heavy , with all the containers on board easily affected by wind and waves.Ballast is for two functions..even keel and to prevent top heaviness

    @@garyallport18 yes i assumed that to be so...that containers would be unloaded and then reassigned to other ships for final end delivery...and then flooding compartments to make the ship seaworthy..at least to be able to get the ship to Virginia where i believe the bow is to be repaired..
