My first time grooming this Maine Coon Mr. Dakota. He was pretty good but growled a lot. This was also my first time just trimming a cat. I hope you enjoy.

Maine Coon’s are the ‘dog’ of the cat world. They’re the best cats and are super friendly, my Maine Coon is 8 and still acts like a kitten.

I came from Mary Beth's channel. I love the vids your making!! If I tried anything like this with my cats they'd probably murder me in my sleep lol. I used to have the most beautiful Maine Coon boy. He was so big and fluffy, so spoiled. He was from a litter of my mom's Maine Coon and he was the momma cat's precious favorite (and mine lol.) She'd pull him up into her arm like she was holding a human baby; it was so freaking cute. 😍 But he snuck out of a hole he made in my basement a couple years ago and we never found him...I miss him so much. His name was Hister because he started hissing at us nearly the first day after he was born. Such a beautiful breed! P.S. Don't worry about people nagging you in the comments...you'll never be able to please everyone and, at this point, I'm of the opinion that people coming on YT to criticize are just kids, trolls, misguided social justice warriors, or just plain unable to see past any justification you'd give anyway. I appreciate variety, and showing people that there's all kinds of ways to ehh groom a cat, but don't ever let yourself feel too obligated to cater to people's delicate sensibilities or you'll be unhappy and they'll never learn some necessary harsh realities. Come at them like Mary Beth does: laugh at them 😉

Thank you guys. 🥰🥰🥰 I’m good with whatever they comment. Marybeth warned me ahead of time and I know you can’t please everyone and I have no desire to. I’ve made it this far in life being exactly who I am and I’m not about to change that for someone who probably just didn’t get enough hugs as a child. Lol We’re all different. We all have our own way of going through this thing called life and I don’t think there really ever will be a totally right or wrong answer on how you’re supposed to do it. Just do what makes you happy, keeps you growing, and stay humble. PS Maine Coons are the only cats I have groomed so far that don’t give my allergies a super fit and I think they are so beautiful so I might own one in my future.

Great job, Jessica! We know someone who has 3 Maine Coons and, apparently, they hunt in a pack. She has a picture of her 3 precious angels standing over the body of a full grown coyote they had brought down. The coyote decided the middle-sized one would be a tasty snack, and well... That didn't end well for the coyote. Conversely, the largest one is a very lean 25 pounds and just wants to be a lap cat when he's in the house. 👀

Some of these comments make me wonder what sheltered lives they all lead and why the world is becoming a “nanny state” as we call it in the U.K.!!! Omg…keep up the bloody good banter-I love it and we are the same in our family too-my sarcasm is sooo bad!!! My grooming clients love it (some I’m careful with and am all posh to them though lol!!). Your cat grooming is fab and I’m becoming known as the cocker spaniel groomer and cat groomer of the town. Some do travel miles to see me which is super sweet of them. I love grooming cats although most are not bathed in the U.K. we do dry cuts only which doesn’t give the greatest finish but I think lion clips etc are becoming more popular as the Maine Coon craze takes off over here. Sorry for the essay 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤣🤣😂😂 can’t wait for the next instalment!! Take care

My Maine Coons all took 3 years to learn to clean themselves to the point where they control their mats better. Even so, I bought a good trimmer to take care of the big ones. They really seem to appreciate it when the mats are gone. The matting can really pull on the skin or stay too humid and give a good rash.

I would shave his belly and sanitary given how they are horribly prone to matting in those areas. You won't see it with the amount of hair they have and he's most likely hissing because those Mats were hurting him. He was just fearful because his poor leg was shaking, but he did an awesome job. Your relationship with your kids reminds me of myself! Lol

The man’s cat had gorgeous fur! I noticed there were other people commenting about your language with your children. It’s fun to banter back and forth with your kids. I do that, too. However, it probably came off unnerving to some since one of your daughters has a leg injury and your younger daughter had a cast on her forearm in a previous video and then you told the injured daughter at the 27:00 mark you were going to punch her in her face. Eek 😬 👀👀

Lol I showed her face she wasn’t scared at all she was laughing and yes that’s our sense of humor. I was waiting for someone to comment on them both having injured limbs. We are a sports family and try to live our life to the fullest. Emma my oldest broke her ankle sliding into home plate. (Lots of witnesses at the school) Bug was riding Emma’s knee scooter and hit a bump flying off and hurting her wrist a few weeks later. Again lots of people around but I could see where people would take it wrong. I just have no desire to change who I am or how I have raised my 3 amazing kids because it doesn’t fit into some KZreadrs ideal view of the perfect parent.

As a Maine Coon owner here’s my advice for anyone who’s watching for what it’s worth: Brush the cat gently and SLOWLY so it feels like stroking and they actually enjoy it; if they hiss or meow it means it’s painful and you’re pulling at the fur; I use scissors to gently cut out the matt ensuring my fingers are between their skin and the fur I’m cutting so as to avoid cutting them; if they get really distressed STOP and go back to grooming another day, preferably when the cat is sleepy and relaxed; the environment needs to be calm and quiet too or else the cat will become immediately stressed and will hate being groomed the next time. Cats should not be groomed in the same manner as dogs 😊
