Daisy Ridley has always seemed like a decent, kind person during interviews--- much like in this clip. But I've no desire to see another Star Wars film after seeing Episode VIII. It is one of the worst films I've ever seen. You couldn't pay me to re-watch it. But my contempt for Episode VIII has nothing to do with Daisy Ridley. And I think a lot of people, regardless of how they feel about Disney and Lucasfilm, wish her well. They understand she is just an actress, doing a job. We're just sick of the corporation that ran it to the ground, and we see it for what it is now. Another dead franchise.

The sequel trilogy left a bad taste in the mouths of both general audiences and SW fans.. No offense to Daisy, but I think the best Disney can do now is just make another trilogy and move on as far as they can from the sequel trilogy, so we can forget what they did to the franchise.

But I have serious doubts about the director for the new Rey movie considering what she has said about Star Wars so far. And I really think she was just chosen because of some stupid political reasons instead of hiring the best possible person for the job of making a Star Wars movie.

A response to the comments: So if you don't believe that Disney can deliver anything good with Star Wars, what are you doing here? Are you going to spend the rest of your life repeating that and complaining? Move on. I want to keep believing and rooting for them; I've seen good things like Rogue One and Andor, as well as Star Wars Rebels. Being completely cynical is depressing.

Daisy was never the issue with Rey. She deserves a better script and I hope this will be it!

I never liked Rey’s character. The writing ruined it for me. I like daisy ridley a lot she’s a remarkable actress and I love all of her other projects I just think Rey wasn’t a good character. She did a good job at playing Rey I’ll give her that.

As much as the recent Star Wars movies suck, she is a very likeable actress. Dumb scripts and dumber directors are to blame. Wish her the best.

So hyped that she gets another shot. The last two she did she was great in but they felt sooo confused.

Force Awakens is such a fun movie with such great pace I just loved it straight from the off, could be my favourite, tied with Rogue One perhaps. The last jedi, first impressions of it were terrible, I was so bored I almost stopped watching after 90 mins, didn't feel like a star wars movie, but honestly seemed so much better when I watched it a 2nd time when I knew what to expect. I still know some guys that are pretty hardcore star wars fans that to this day, were that burned by the last jedi they haven't watched rise of skywalker. Crazy lol.

I really hope this next film succeeds. I'm gonna be so upset if Disney does Daisy dirty.

‘Disney Does Daisy Dirty’ is kind of great.

It seems to me the best thing they can do is use the world between worlds to change history at some point and reintroduce rey and Ben solo as members of Luke's new jedi order and the other new characters introduced in the sequels in new settings

I do love how everyone is making a huge deal about generic offhand comments made by her. She has not seen a script, the story is still in revision, and it could all still be dropped. But she makes generic excitement noises and everyone runs with it as if it means something...😂😂😂😂 Just watch her in this...she hems and haws and says nothing...kind of like a politician.

Star Wars in particular has a good history with documentarians entering narrative :)

The cast was never the problem. On the contrary, at the time these talented young artists and the technical teams gave themselves body and soul in respect to the saga of sagas and the work of George Lucas. It is the producers, writers and directors who are the only ones responsible for the messy failure of what has been called "the sequel trilogy". I hope they learned their lessons so as not to repeat the worst missteps in cinema history.

"Fun direction" is pretty ominous sounding from Disney, which created the worst Star Wars movies of all time. That was the first thought I had when I left the theater after watching The Last Jedi. I hope Rey returns and they take it in a fun direction.

I hope it’s a good script, but the person to direct this movie should’ve been Bryce Dallas Howard, who really understands Star Wars. Sharlene Obaid -Chinoy is busy gaslighting men, for some reason. If she fails then there is nowhere for the franchise to turn, so it’s important that Dave Filoni has a firm grip on the editing of the script, and maybe the movie as well. Daisy deserves to have a good path forward in the franchise, instead of the waffle they gave her in TLJ and TROS. She needs proper training, so time to hire the big guns and bring back Mace Windu.

She's a great actress I wish her character was given better.

Had to ask Mom and husband “hey how many more millions do I need?” Nice.

Let's hope they don't make all the men uncomfortable.

That is what I was thinking too. KK and Disney have ruined Star Wars. George Lucas buying it back for half price or less, is the only way Star Wars will be saved. Disney subscriber memberships are dropping like dead flies.

I hope Daisy realises that there is an absolutely huge part of the fanbase who adores the trilogy she was in. Its so easy to focus on criticism and hate but so many people have so much love for her trilogy

OMG....seriously Man ???? I consider myself a mid-base Star Wars fan, not a geek nor a stranger to it, but the majority for sure, and let me tell you that all the people I know, being moderate fans deeply hate the New trilogy. But hey, guess what, IT'S NOT DAISEY'S FAULT, she's an awseome bad ass actress. It's the direction, lead by Kath Kennedy woke agenda that swore to destroy Luke's character that have been the problem !!!

There's really not. I personally don't know a single person who has rewatched those movies. The Rey movie will preform worse than solo, count on it. Only reason 9 limped across billion mark was 2 extensions in theaters, so much fake marketing (script in hotel, storm Disney hq), and the hard-core fans that basically felt obligated to see how this crap wrapped up

I loved Rey and Finn and Po in TFA. I was disappointed with the sequels but the new characters were great. Can't please everyone I suppose. I love her smile 😁 She is like a cute Cheshire Cat. How could you not love Daisy? 🫠

So long as Kathleen Kennedy is involved, it's not going to be good Star Wars.

I’m honestly curious at how this movie is going to go. I liked The Rise of Skywalker, and the Star Wars shows that came after. So, I’m excited to see Daisy as Rey again. She’s one of my favorite characters in the sequel trilogy, Poe and Finn are two and three.

Lucasfilm don't do script. They only do lecturing.

It all comes down to the story and the writing. People are distrustful of another ‘Last Jedi’.

Daisy Ridley deserves to play a version of Rey that has a whole original story that is her own, and is NOT A REMAKE of the previous films. Hope the new film takes into account the constructive feedback and ignores the obviously clear trolls that are sexist, racist, or body shaming women.

Why have a rodecaster if you're not even going to turn it on? Weird to have like a 1K prop...

Daisy was great as Rey. Problem was always the Scripts and how confusing the movies became without a natural progression from the 1st to the 3rd. It was all over the place. Not to mention, how they treated Luke's character. Might as well not have him in the movies at all, if you're going to just trash him. That's just scratching the surface really, there were plenty of other characters that were shockingly inconsistent as well.

She's the only one excited about this trilogy. Because she will get a shitload of money no matter if the movies are hits or if they bomb. Spoiler alert: they will bomb.

as much as we want to blame the directors and executives... the actors read the script and sign on... they are equally culpable in why a film is bad. Everyone defending her like she isn't just chasing the pay cheque

Things have fallen so far the best you can hope for is a fun and light enjoyable 2 hour popcorn movie, if it at least does that it could do well with reasonable expectations. At worst it will be a debacle like Dial of Destiny and make less than Solo a Star Wars story.

She's basically getting what should have been Luke's story - rebuilding the Jedi Order. I don't blame her for the sequels, I largely blame Abrams and his lack of imagination but if I was her, I'd have turned down the offer to return. Not because she's bad or anything but because she represents a part of Star Wars that a lot of people want to move on from and forget even happened. I used to think Star Wars movies would always be sure-fire hits but I can see this movie bombing and not just because half of the audience hates the sequels. I think even a lot people who like the sequels want to move away from this time period and focus on something else, like KOTOR or even a jump into the distant future.

Exactly they swapped out Luke and gave her his story purpose which made long time fans upset. Its not the actress fault. As an actor you do what is expected of you and read the script as written. All they can do now is play the hand they have Luke is dead and Rey is the future of the Jedi, they can't remake the sequel trilogy. Rey is the capstone of Disney Star Wars, there is no getting around that. the park was about her, the sequel was about her. They aren't going to erase her.

I don't think the story or what the long time fans want factored too heavily into her deliberations. She doesn't seem to know or care very much about the bigger story, all she talked about was whether it was too soon and whether she was ready to commit to the shooting schedule again.

Honestly speaking I love Daisy and I love Rey but I don’t think she should’ve been the main character. It should’ve been Finn. A stormtrooper turned Jedi

Can't blame the cast or the crew or the craftspeople who did amazing work, even as those supposedly in charge of the narrative made a complete mess. I thought Rise was complete childish gibberish when I saw it in theater, but watch the making of on youtube (3hrs+) and you gotta hand it to all the behind the scenes people who did great work. Maybe don't set your release dates according to stock holder expectations, but whatever, f art, munny forever.

It was arrogant of Disney Lucasfilm to throw out George Lucas outline and say they could make the trilogy in half the time. Don't get me wrong i have problems with that treatment, Whills, Midichclorian, Darth Maul as the big bad. But some of the other ideas weren't all that out of line with the Expanded Universe.

the problem is Rey has been utterly ruined i dont see how they row back on that and undo the damage of the last trilogy , felt so bad for all the actors who bore the brunt of that backlash for what wasn't their fault so would be great to see her get a good film. but if KK is still at the helm doesn't look likely.

All of these great actors getting a chance to "fix" their characters in the Filonverse is awesome.

Like Daisey in other movies that have seen her in since Star Wars Sequel trilogy and she is a good actress. BUT her returning as a non-favourite again as Mary-Sue Rey Palpatine for Episode X will not fly or reach new audiences let alone old audiences to make it a smash hit! Killary Kennedy needs to be ousted from Lucasfilm as does Bob Iger from Disney. Start all over again from scratch which isnt likely.

I worshipped her in the first movie but yeah definitely the Rian Johnson one was just a mess and JJ just couldn’t correct it enough in the third movie. None of it was her fault.

Disney has lost so much goodwill from the fans as KK has manhandled the franchise that at this point I'd rather not have any more shitty SW Disney movies, which means no more SW movies.

Hopefully her character gets a proper arc and has some failures and struggles to over come. Perhaps she isn't a good master or teacher. I would like to see her try and set up a new Jedi academy to mess it up and end up full darkside.

If you're someone who doesn't like Rey and doesn't want the Rey film, then do us all a favour and stay well clear of it. People should be going into this film (or any film for that matter) with an open mind and no pre conceived notions, regardless of whether Disney deserve that of us or not. But we have an opportunity to see Rey appear in a well written film, where her character is fleshed out by danced and intelligent writing. Daisy is an incredible actress and it will be exciting to see her come back!

My script for Episode X fixes all the issues that fans have with the sequel trilogy.

I hope for her sake the movie is good, but good lord everything about this upcoming Rey film screams dumpster fire. Sequel trilogy sucked as well. It’s sad how Star Wars has been relegated to a streaming Tv franchise now.
