Lol yeah the tobacco company owns a lot of the junk food companies. I wonder why??
What gives longevity in the blue zone is not food. It's that they live a simple life which is more stress free. Like the Hunzas, they work hard & never rush.

The Hunza eat largely plant based. 70% of their diet is complex carbohydrate.

It's true that's because he is a dead end vegan promoter. And all processed junk is made mainly from plant-based ingredients, including industrial seed oils.

YOu have to add US farm government policy to the list. This is what determines the crops farmer's grow. Of course farmers can grow whatever they want, but they are hooked on the gravy train - and still not doing well.

I was commuting 110 miles a day because I had NO MONEY! The homes and apartments away from job centers are CHEAPER. Now I'm retired and the home in the country is heaven on earth. All these podcasters, book authors and doctors are MULTI-MILLIONAIRES. They can buy all organic, buy $40 a pound wild caught salmon and all supplements they want. I have never had a blood test. They can get them monthly. Just remember some of the people listening are barely getting by. Try living in Southern California on a single $1,827 a month Social Security check.

Most of the people in the blue zones eat beans daily. Dan Buttner does. Beans cost $10 for a huge bag (at least 5 pounds) at Costco. Rice is cheap too. Eating these foods is far cheaper than eating processed junk food.

@@annemccarron2281 I don't eat rice (glucose spike). YES I do purchase large bags of dried beans and cook them in a pressure cooker. I live in Southern California where regular Unleaded gas costs $5.39 a gallon, car registration on a base model pickup truck is $295 a year and homeowners insurance on a tiny house is $2,750

@@annemccarron2281 P.S. - haven't eaten junk food in years. Never eat ultra processed food. Only eat out once every 6 weeks. Don't eat things in boxes or cans. Last time I was at a doctors office was in 1969. One $4 prescription in my adult life(antibiotic for root canal). Just don't have money.

You can't imagine how much junk food is in schools. Teachers and students eat horribly. Ice cream for meet your teacher time prior to school starting. Candy as prizes given by teachers. Garbage meals served in the cafeteria. Donuts constantly in the staff lounge. Pot lucks full of only God knows what. I'm so glad to be out of that environment.
I think we have to have a very strict diet and restricting all-suites sugar potatoes and bread myself. Of course I'd have to say that bread and potatoes and rice aren't as bad as Pepsi and Coca-Cola and all the same sodas sodas. We just trying to make friendly talk about the practical diet

After being a medical professional over half my life, I have worked with a lot of people over 90 up to 110. In my own personal life, I would rather live a more fun life with some indulgences and really enjoy life. I think it is more moderation, staying away from smoking, getting sleep, working hard, but not too hard. I think all food is good. I also believe in fasting and for me, eating one meal a day....anything I want to eat. I don't like vegetables or fruit whatsoever, except the vegetables on my burgers. Currently, I am 64, no medications, totally healthy and no problems. I may cut down on work eventually, but will never retire. I guess my point is, who the hell really knows?? You can follow anybody else's ideas, but what really is going to work is what is best for you. People give these programs WAY TOO MUCH attention. Just my opinion!

It's all based on valid data. No one is going to force you to eat healthy. It's your choice, however, I highly appreciate this information and I have incorporated it into my lifestyle. I feel fantastic!

Gather as much information about longevity and choose what you think best listening to your body's intuition.I reversed my heart problem discarding drugs now for 5 years no drugs only greens, avocado exercise,time restricted fasting,ginger.I am 63.

Oh no, he left out Hong Kong, they are right behind Monico for the longest living in 2020. They also had the highest consumption of meat. It seems like he's been selective in his choice of countries.

Exactly. They have better health measures over all as well. They eat lots of poultry and feemented foods. Years on end, longest longevity stats. Now. Not advocating eating meat. Its whole foods witb fermented foods and fewer processed foods. Processed food is the main problem and people seem to not want to point that out.

@@natalietannerblogger-theed9419 Many people are drawing the conclusion that countries with low meat consumption have high longevity. If we factor in Hong Kong's high meat consumption high longevity then we see it's not as simple as saying eat less meat, live longer.

@@annemccarron2281 To draw statically valid human conclusions, one needs to remove the possibility of inaccuracies of data input, remove randomize of occurrences. For age input, do we know what the recording of births was like 80, 90, 100 years ago in those countries.
I think when they say superfoods they know they're exaggerating the mean and the terms of superfoods like Superman. They're just trying to say that these foods are better than other foods. Like I don't think Coca-Cola and Pepsi whatever be considered a superfood. I think beat eggs fish could be considered a superfood but we never say they are superfoods.
on these podcast's where a plant based diet is recommended,why is it that the fact that our plants are laced with chemicals and garbage never mentioned?
How are we supposed to eat well when everything is garbage?

I ate vegetarian and felt horrible - I mean really, really bad! Then, I ate carnivore diet and felt like a completely new person. Now, I'm healthier than ever. If you want to live a long and healthy life EAT MEAT!!
Dan Buettner is just excellent. Still, two queries: In Okinawa a very high percentage of the male population, and a high persentage of the women were killed during the invasion in WWII, Did this have any effect in biasing the statistics for the survivors? The median rate of apostasy from Adventism is about six months: after six months a quarter of new Seventh Day Adventists will have relapsed to whatever they were before, while another quarter will have gone on to rather freakier versions of similar sets of beliefs. I wonder whether this high turnover is in part the result of the ongoing population making some subsets of new recruits feel uncomfortable? Do Adventists weed out the potential losers?

The supposed, Okinawan longevity diet is a complete fraud. It's based upon a 1949 US military survey, undertaken when Okinawa remained a wrecked & forgotten victim of WW2. From Adventist Health Study 2, the 8% vegan group consume a daily average of 3.1g protein from animal sources.. very vegan! PB propaganda is utter BS.🙄
Ridiculous, I am from Sardinia. I am leaving with this guys non belief in diet.
No question he is bias toward vegan diet. It is ok for some when they are young but over 60 it is a bad diet as the human body needs a lot more protein. And all vegetables will not suffice. All protein is not created equal.
Id like to apoligize for the 43 comments before this one. I will live to 105. how? I smoke meth all day, drink vodka by the quart, eat ice cream for dinner, stay seated 16 hrs a day, and in perfect health! Dont believe anything Dan says hes a multimillionare like every podcaster! really?
He "forgets" meat and cheese! People in Sardinia, Ikaria, Iceland, south Sweden eat meat and dairy every day. These plant based guys lie about the blue zones diets. And they forget about the long living populations in Iceland and south Sweden.
I dislike the fact that u talk about blue zones and you dont mention Africa. Most Americans do not have any idea how big the world is. Everything you are talking about So Called Blue Zones is Actually Africa. You all always ommit Africa and i think is deliberate. Africa is more of Blue Zone than Anywhere in the world. Your Research is very Good though
