probably mild steel welded to cast iron, cast has shit tensile strength the mild steel was the only thing resisting the impact and was not enough for this giga chad impact. dana 60s aren't unbreakable. if you got the money fabricated housings made of chromoly are much better and lighter, and more than 12 inches of travel would help alot.
