Dahlonega Mine Train front seat on-ride 5K POV @60fps Six Flags Over Georgia

This Arrow Dynamics mine train coaster opened in 1967 and was rebuilt and refurbished by the O. D. Hopkins Company in the mid-1990s. The refurbishment included a fully computerized control system and replacing the wooden supports with steel tubular rails, so now much of the wood is ornamental.
It also has an unusual name. Do you know where it comes from?
Six Flags Over Georgia is located near Atlanta in Austell, Georgia.

My friend and I did this back when we were in 9th grade and we went on a school trip to Six Flags over GA. I was a wimp (still am; I only really ride roller coasters at Disney World lol) and too afraid to ride the big coasters. I did try Georgia Cyclone (this was back before it was turned into "Twisted Cyclone" so it didn't go upside down or anything, but on the other hand, it was quite a rough ride then). I was super proud of myself for doing a "real" coaster, but I wasn't too wild about doing it again or trying any of the other big ones. So we pretty much spent the day riding Mine Train over and over again. 😂 I also remember riding one of those scrambler rides but it was indoors and they played rock n' roll music on it. That one was fun. But I don't think it exists anymore and I don't remember what the name of it was.

My first roller-coaster in 1980 when I was 10--I was too scared to go on the Revolution or Colossus that day, so it remained my first coaster until I was 11 and went on the Colossus. I was still too scared of Revolution because of the loop, lol. It intertwined with the Log-Jammer water ride. Gold Rush is still there, or at least was when I last went to MM right before New Year's Eve 2019, but the Log-Jammer had been long removed, I found out. Unplanned, Gold Rush became my 9 year old son's first roller-coaster that day, but since the line was so short for Revolution, his second roller-coaster ride became that one. He was far braver than me at his age, and just for good measure, wanted to go on the Revolution right after, so we did it again.

This ride is one of the most memorable coasters ive ever been on. Not because its the fastest, the most unique track layout or the smoothest ride ive been on (its definitely a little jerky lol), but i love this ride because of the memories i have with it. i grew up in georgia, still live here even to this day and when i was a kid i was absolutely terrified to ride rollercoasters. I used to get free tickets from the reading program my elementary school did, so we would get to go to the park every summer. My dad used to take me starting in 1st grade probably when i was around 7 years old and he suggested riding something new. I was always curious about rollercoasters i was just too scared to ride them especially with all the loops and stuff, so i asked him if there was anything smaller in the park that we could try out before riding bigger rollercoasters. He told me theres two rides we could try, wild e coyote cannon blaster which is the smallest and the Dahlonega mine train was a little bigger, but there wasnt any loops and still wasnt too tall. we road the wild e coyote cannon blaster coaster which is now renamed the joker funhouse coaster and i ended up loving it, we road it 2 more times immediately after and then i decided i wanted to try the other one he mentioned. we went to that section of the park and idk how it is today, but back then there was always a long wait for this one. we got on pretty quickly tho still despite that bc they were running pretty efficiently. i got on the ride and it was literally one of my best memories from this time in my life, we road this ride over and over all day. i didnt try any bigger coasters, not even mindbender because i didnt like the idea of going upside down back then, however riding the mine train is what got me into coasters initially and as i got older i finally tried a bigger ride called wild eagle at dollywood, after that i road everything else in dollywood, came home and went to six flags and road everything in the park except dare devil dive and the pendulum rides bc i honestly hate those. Even to this day however.. everytime i go to this park, even though i like the bigger rides there a little more, i still have to ride this one several times throughout the day because of how nostalgic it is to me. if you're a kid looking for a ride to help you branch out into other rollercoasters and six flags over georgia is your home park, than this is the ride for you :)

Riding this in the 70's and 80's was more fun because there were so many trees, bushes and vines. Every corner turn was blind and that gave it a feeling of faster speeds. They had major repairs and some track replacements done in the 90's and that's when they removed everything around the tracks.

You certainly has a steady cam there, as it is nowhere near that smooth! LOL Back in the day, during busy days, they would operate that ride with 4 trains. Of course then the only restraint was a T-bar and loading was incredibly fast. There was also a barn/tunnel you rolled through after the 2nd lift.

Slow and chill at the beginning but then at the end, pretty quick and ending with a bang. Pretty rough looking turns tho but typical Arrow thing 😅

Literally a classic, but we ride it almost every time we go. I'm kinda disappointed they removed some of the landscaping in the back section between the second and third lift hills: it added a fun visual element to that section. I think It's nice to have a ride that's a little more sedate to slot in between Goliath, Twisted Cyclone, and the others. I feel like I enjoy my visit more when I've ridden the Mine Train than when I skip it. I hope SFOG continues to keep this one around.

I get motion sick fairly easily, and heights are not my thing, so I love all these arrow mine trains, they are so dope.

This looks like a coaster design from the days when most were drawn on a napkin from a meeting of ARROW DESIGNERS and KINGS ISLAND EXECUTIVE AT THE LOCAL STRIP CLUB .

Rode this one with my family back in August 1993. My parents rode it, although my dad gets motion sick and height and speed don't agree with my mom. The last drop...I was sitting next to Mom and she was holding a cherry slushy. Some of it got on my shirt and her purse.

What a nice beginners coaster to get the elementary age children hooked on them. Those small lift hills has that RCT2 feeling.

That upper portion used to be a walk through the woods - it's so weird to see it almost devoid of trees.
